Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If Preuss is so great how come he couldn't get a game with North all season? Looks a bit of a lumbering dinosaur to me

Goldstein was back to his best form, Majak was playing well, Brown and Waite and others held forward spots...

I am clutching at straws as I personally rate Tyson far more highly than Preuss...

I can’t believe people actually think Tyson is in our best 22. He is depth only with a full strength list. Straight swap is fine.

Ruckmen don’t grow on trees. Inside midfielders do at Melbourne however.

Preuss for Tyson isn't even speculative about who wins that. North get a 20 plus possession midfielder and we get a bloke who has barely played. You do the math.

If they want that deal to go ahead, shuffling of draft picks will need to come into it (or another club potentially). This isn't Essendon style over rating of our players but simply not wanting to get pantsed.

Anyone else concerned with our lack of depth after this trade period?

I would need to look at who we bring in after the trade period to judge. If we lose our depth players and can't bring players back the other way....potentially yes.

If Tyson is on $500k as suggested here then there's salary cap dump involved too which helps our cause.  I expect Preuss will come on less per year over 4 years.  That is a factor in evening out the trade value.

Straight swap for Preuss? Ew, guy can't get a game at Norf, Tyson is best 22 for us. Preuss will play VFL unless Max is injured.

Teams play maximum two rucks with most playing one. Teams play how many midfielders and even more so how many inside midfielders? If we lose one inside mid in 2019 how much will you panic? If Gawn went down next year how much will you panic?

Preuss is worth as much as Tyson. You could potentially argue more.

100% agree. There are plenty of one-paced mids out there. Perhaps we've already got something in the works and know Tyson will be surplus to needs.... Andy Brayshaw perhaps?? Speculation only.

Corey Maynard is a very average AFL footballer but I guess he would be considered our 'insurance' inside mid who we can bring in if a few of our star mids go down

Real pity Dom doesn’t accept GC offer as it would make it easier to do the May deal without the Hogan deal. We might be able to get a better pick than we have by bundling other deals like Kent and AVB proceeds to give to GC .

It would certainly take the pressure off the Hogan deal.

Straight swap of Tyson for Preuss.

Wtf.

We must need the backup ruck role desperately.

North should at least give us pick 57 or 67 as a side order to go with Preuss.  They are unlikely to use them anyway.

Think that was pretty obvious when we delisted Filipovic and King.

In 2019, we are going to have the best ruck in the league, and a more than capable back-up who will continue to get better.  A lot of sides would be in envy of our position here.

It seems a little odd that we made a prelim and are making quite a few list changes. I trust the club though to be making the correct ones.

Making the changes because we only made the Prelim.

Changes get us a flag ;)

Hardly any changes cut into best 25 (so far).  We can make these changes and get significantly better where we have gaps or nqr options.  Casey will be better for it!

Corrected back to Pittard

Surely Pittard, as it'll be a salary dump to help the deal across the line.

Pittard was a free agent last year but signed a sizeable 3 year extension before spending a lot of the year playing magoos.

North can only offer their pick 11 for Polec but by taking the last 2 years of Pittard's contact off Port (who are squeezed with some terrible contracts) then they can add some value to the trade .... but they can't be so far off that they need to take Hartlett's monster contact, surely.

I think it was just a case of Basil’s teleprompter.  Was changed back on the website pretty quick.  The dumping of salary cap sounds a valuable add on, but I wonder how the AFL see such things re trading fair value?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
