Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Changes vs Gold Coast

If Salem is fit he comes in, probably for ANB, who has had low disposals and high turnovers, despite his pressure acts.

I would rest Vince for a game and save him the travel as well, on the back of a 6 day turnaround and a heavy recent load.

That makes a spot for Viney if he is to come straight in.

Garlett is the interesting one, with poor recent form, but 5 match winning goals last time at the Gabba.

To be honest, I would save Viney the travel and play him the next week at the G against the Blues and just do the two changes above, Salem and Jeffy for ANB and Vince.

BTW any talk of dropping Spargo is mad, he is a revelation. Has not made a mistake. We need to get as many games into him, Bayley and Weid as possible.

PS. A big hello to the Oscar haters of last year, he has been nothing short of sensational and is becoming one of our most important players.

i reckon Bernie Vince almost played one of his best games last week for us, committed, disciplined, used it really well and was tough and steady. That's all he has to do.. i think he is having a pretty good year.

In saying that, 32 years old, will be his 4th game in 19 days.. it makes sense to rest him if he needs it.

IN: Viney

Salem

OUT: Vince

ANB

If Viney is fit to play football, then he is fit to play AFL.

He knows how to play football, he is not a fringe player.

We almost have a full healthy list, someone has to make way for the skipper.

I would bring him in this week, get an AFL game or 2  under his belt so he is cherry ripe for the Crows game.

We haven't beaten a  2017 top 8 side this year. Adelaide has got to be our first scalp.

Surprisingly we haven't lost to a 2017 bottom 8 side.

Now if Viney comes in who does he compete with.

FIIK?

Is this the same unit that bought him back too early last year and cooked him??

No not the same unit. I know Dr. David Bolzonello from Alphington sports medicine clinic joined the MFC this year.

The crew at Alphington have been working with elite athletes/olympians for the 25 years I have been going. He takes no [censored] and will not be forced into anything. IMHO he was the one that said Viney/Tmac would not play for 6-8 weeks!

I think both Viney and Salem come back in.  Who for will be tough.  I'd also like Garlett to come back in with our new structure up forward as he's able to provide more opportunities than Hannan IMO.

That’s a load of crap. Why bring in two underdone guys when you don’t know who to drop? And why should Hannan fall victim of 1 quiet game and you’re out?

Take it easy mate! They gotta come in at some point. I’m thinking ANB obviously out for Viney. If Salem is fit maybe Jayden could be out for another spell? Or possibly Bernie to be rested.

I’d love to see Jeff in but I’m not too keen on Hannan making way just at the moment.

2 underdone players? Viney yes but Salem's only been out for a week.

Why anyone would want Viney to play in the VFL has got me stuffed when we are playing a VFL standard team in the Suns. The best of both worlds for Viney.

I think Melbourne are just playing games. Guns like Viney just don't play VFL footy, a complete waste of talent if he plays in the VFL IMO.

I think there is good reason to run Viney on limited minutes at Casey to get some match fitness.

Unlike Tommy, he hasn't played a competitive game since last season & may open himself up to soft tissue injury for example.

It's probably more likely we run him in at AFL level but there are good reasons why we might not despite the views expressed above.

Initially I was in the camp to play Viney as soon as he could walk without assistance. However now given our next two matches I'm inclined to play him in the twos perhaps with limited game time as we don't need him to win these games per se.

Given the bull at a gate ideology of some of our FD ...whilst logic and tempered excitement should have him warming up at Casey... I'll bet London to a brick hell play the Suns.

They’ve been preparing Viney as well as McDonald for AFL, they’ve said it multiple times. Viney was running around weeks ago, would not be surprised to see him line v Gold Coast.

Preparing a midfielder for AFL is very different to preparing a key position player.

That’s not even taking into account the fact that Tom Mac had much more of a pre-season than Viney, played the AFL X game and one JLT game. Given the fact that he’s the best runner at the club, it’s easy to see why Tom could come back in and have some sort of an impact. In fact, there wouldn’t be many players in the AFL that could have had the same impact as he did in his comeback game against Essendon.

Viney is a midfielder, was off-legs for much of the pre-season and doesn’t have the natural tank that Tom has. His position is also so much more demanding at AFL level.

He might be training with the main group, but there’s no way I see him playing AFL this week against a Gold Coast side that’s not much chop. He needs to build minutes at the lower level.

We’ve learnt once about bringing him back too early. There’s no way we make that mistake again.

That clown would want to hope Viney doesnt't get up again.

I say keep him until the Carlton game. They will think they're a chance against us and seeing JV in and raring to go will give them second thoughts.

Just love the packaged intent that this could invoke - JV champing at the bit against Carlscum.

All good points and agree, we await. Wouldn't mind going to a Casey game to watch him actually

Love Hunt but he's not producing the run, carry and drive we need from him.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
