Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This all smacks of the Clayton Oliver non story, I spoke to Jack at Family Day, he was all cool

To give an example of Demonland sourcing,  I joked with Robbo about how his rig was admired on here, Mark Stevens was stood next to us, he said "yes I saw that", all the journos are regular readers of Demonland

No.  Just annoyance that a bloke who has had one good year in 8 gets ahead of himself.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was some substance to it - hearing his speech at the B&F last year my impression was that he seemed extremely self-satisfied, more-so than others who took the stage that night.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Of course they do and all the other footy forums too. It's called "research" these days

Dependent on the player, depends on the validity of claims by the media for most posters on here.

This preseason I have heard rumours or Angus Brayshaw being told to pull his head in for partying too hard, Michael hibberd coming back [censored] fit rather than fit fit now this Jack watts rumour. Would have loved Goodwin to have been asked about it, but he wasn't in the presser and to be fair it just seems like another Demonland rumour given air time

Could this be real? Yes, very much so.

Do I believe it? Not until Jack Watts is officially named by the club to miss Round 1.

Wouldn't be the first time a journalist has circled Demonland for the latest MFC news and rumours.

Hardly.  Some posters questioned the validity of the rumour, myself included.  He wasn't attacked, but in saying that, when you post a rumour that is not based on anything but hearsay you're likely to get backlash from some.

When is a rumour anything but...?

Classic Saty.

Though I don't necessarily disagree with the first bit.

When did he come back in poor condition?  October break, Christmas break..? Surely we wouldn't be punishing someone for their condition four months ago??

and i've heard nothing but praise of his training form and attitude from posters attending training

Of course it may be real, but I'm tempted to risk banning net week by starting a rumour about a high-profile player and seeing how long before SEN or some other slack journos fly with it.

BTW, for those who think his ommision in itself was suspicious, how about :  I was told by a source close to the club that Watts was in such good shape that there seemed little point in putting him in the team ahead of some of the marginal players who we wanted to have a good look at in a real game.  Seems a credible statement.

It'd need to be a team effort. One poster shares the rumour from one source, another backs them up after 'talking to someone who would know', then a couple of fake accounts on bigfooty.

It is almost unfair on the journo, you just know they'll bite.

Anyway, to me, the 'poor condition -> omission' things would seem more credible if it were a case of 'point source' rather than 'general'. Arriving hungover to a session during the Gold Coast trip, rather than being generally unfit.

Ooh, there we go, the rumour is getting some meat on it now.

He owes his himself, his club and his teammates far more than that.

An element of confirmation bias iperhaps pd, in so far as you are choosing to believe what are only rumours. But if they do prove to be true i would be equally annoyed. Given where we are at in our evolution and the fact he has a new coach anything less than 100% commitment is unforgiveable. It might be lucky for me we bet last seaon not this one

Unlike trade rumours these types that go to air by a sports show invariably have reasonable elements of truth to them.

But as I've previously stated, if posters don't want to believe their darling has come back from the preseason in anything less than A-one condition they can.

Having posted hear for 15 years it's fair to say I have a healthy disregard for the views of most.

The reverse is true also.  Others of us that have been posting here for 15 years are not surprised at all that you jumped on this rumour the minute it came to light.  We all have our biases, you're no different.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
