Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I was ok with that.

The candlelight vigil out the front had me shaking my head a bit though.

With the emergence of Wagner and bringing back H to the defensive group, what are peoples thoughts on moving Salem into the wing/ midfield. I think with natural progression he will end up there and having his ball use moving forwards and toughness around the ball would be a great inclusion. I think a role where Vince and Salem swap between midfield and half back roles would be great for Salem's development and also provide us with that flexibility.

The forward pressure that frost provides should not be underestimated. Alot of the time even if the opponent get rid of the ball he is able to take them to ground or otherwise disrupt the flow of play.

I like him at half back/kicking in, just needs to work out how to get a few more cheap possies and he'll be very dangerous.

Third year in a row we play the Tigers only once, Kinda hard to build a rivalry  .No idea why we dont play them twice a  season

My guess is Richmond complained to the AFL that playing Melbourne more than once would be unfair and that they should be given the double-ups against easier competition.

Having a near full list to chose from is enormously advantageous. Especially given the number of injuries and underdone players Richmond have.

I also believe our list is ahead of theirs in terms of talent now and really we should win comfortably as long as we bring the same intensity as we did last weekend.

I would love nothing more than for this game to be a statement game for our club.

I can't remember the last time we've beaten up on a big Melbourne based club at the G. We're pretty close to playing four quarters of hard-nosed and skilled football.

Always hard to feel confident with Melbourne, but at some point we'll see a switch flick with this group and we won't look back.

May this be the game.

can't see any reason why club would keep it a secret though

possible reasons include:

only 95% sure that surgery is the option

waiting on second opinion from another doc

waiting on a scan/test to 100% confirm surgery is the way to go

want to wait until 100% sure to tell the public

rumours and inside info can often be stuff that is 90% gonna happen

right.  i probably should have read the post properly

same thoery applies. are 95% sure the timeframe is so many weeks but want to wait til swelling goes down and it is 100% until people are informed.  we know how annoying it is to hear 4 weeks and then it turns into 8

was anyone at training this morning?  Was Vandenberg there?  If not (as per last week), I'd proffer that the surgery rumour has some basis in fact......if it was just a rolled ankle he'd be on the track....even if just walking / jogging laps.

My theory is that the club is trying out a new tactic in managing/dashing the hopes of Demonlanders on injuries as nobody here trusts any timeframes Misson has to offer. Let a waft of 8 weeks out there and then the old 426 doesn't sound so bad. Watch this space.

It must be really hard for opposition analysts now when looking at Melbourne. I mean if we're all struggling to identify the correct ins and outs with our new found depth, they'd be tearing their hair out.

The only constants so far in terms of danger signs from an opposition POV is trying to curb Gawn's and Viney's influence in the middle and limit the supply to Hogan/Watts.

I still think Maric is short of a gallop, and he has to be recalled due to Hampson. Deledio would still be a risk not being able to kick 100% last week, and would lack match fitness. But the Tigers have to roll the dice at 1 and 3 v the Dees.

I really hope we give 'em hell.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
