Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not sure if the voting criteria is still the same, but David Neitz only ever won one Bluey, so not sure how they'll view Hogan vote wise.

For mine its a 3 horse race between Tommy Mac, Dunn and Bernie.

With Jones and Cross not far behind.

Viney missed 6 games so will be hard for him to get up there as it rewards consistency.

After that its a crapshoot as nobody has really been consistent for long stretches.

True, but a bigger anomaly was Robbie Flower only ever winning one.

Not sure about anyone else, but I was reading the MFC website last night, and one of the rolling articles was promoting the B&F. It actually made me the most annoyed I've felt this year about my club. Here we are, just under a month away from the AFL finals, and we're frothing up over our B&F count.

And to make it worse, the count is booked in for Friday 11 September - week 1 of the finals. Now, I realise that you don't have to be Nostradamus to predict that the likelihood of us making finals this year wasn't great, but realistically, a lot of us around here were looking at the fixture after the Geelong win, believing we had a number of winnable games in the run home, and that we were a (mathematical) chance of a finals start. One would imagine that you would need to give Crown Palladium a bit of notice when booking an event on a Friday night...

I'd much prefer the club to send players to as many finals games as possible, soak in the crowd, the pressure of finals footy, and show them that this is where we want to be. Instead, we "celebrate" the end of our season with a big pi$$ up at Crown, on the same night that almost half the other clubs are preparing to play finals.

Apologies, I'm in a sh!t mood today, and it's much easier to vent my frustration on Demonland. As much as I love Jack Watts, I have banned myself from going on this his thread today due to the high risk of getting a lifetime ban!

FFS The Crown Paladium has them all reserved for the AFL clubs, you can move your dates dependent upon your season and they would start locking some teams in when it is clear they will not make finals

Lets try this

Lets raise the bar...

Some players have still had good seasons and deserve to be rewarded for it. Not having a B&F would be a great way to harm team morale.

You can raise the bar without being draconian about it.

Tom Mac will be lucky to finish top 5... hes been pretty poor since Queens Birthday. But I guess he will sneak in just as hes played a lot more games than others..

1. Bernie Vince

2 .Nathan Jones

3. Jesse Hogan

4. Jack Viney

5. Tom McDonald

If it's the same as it has been in the past, the format of the voting favours players who play all or most games. I reckon Viney has missed too many to be a serious candidate.

1. Vince (missed 1 game)

2. Hogan (missed 2 games)

3. Jones (played all games)

4. McDonald (played all games)

5. Cross (played all games) or Dunn (played all games)

I agree with this.

Viney would probably be top two if he didn't miss through injury.

I can't believe you're serious about this.

I'm bloody serious.

How much does this night cost?

What's to celebrate?

Quick let's organise another team bonding session at Sorrento.

What happened to the players taking owning ownership?

We are a mess.

  • 2 weeks later...

Season is officially done and dusted - what a rollercoaster it was!

For the first time since 2011, I don't think Nathan Jones will win the Bluey, in fact I think it's very open.

My top 5 prediction:

1. Vince (faded a bit after the Collingwood game but offensively and defensively did his job most weeks).

2. Hogan (ultra-consistent, a match winner at times too)

3. N. Jones (didn't have the greatest of years, but will still feature heavily)

4. T. McDonald (started brilliantly before falling away, but always kept at it)

5. Viney (probably our best player since the Bye, but missed a lot of games earlier in the year).

Jack Viney would have won if he didnt miss all those games, he has been amazing.

My top 5

Winner - Bernie Vince

2nd - Nathan Jones

3rd - Jack Viney

4th - Tom McDonald

5th - Jesse Hogan

1) Vince

2) McDonald

3) Jones

4) Viney

5) Hogan

A bit different from the days when Terlich and M. Jones were in the top five!

Here is Matt Burgans prediction, I cant remember how many games Jetta missed but 18th seems a bit low for him

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-09-09/vince-to-win-first-bf-for-melbourne

My guess would be pretty spot on with burgan's top 5.

From memory each player who plays is given a rating out of 10 by 3 coaches so the maximum you can get per round would be 30 whereas a sub would be expected to get atleast 3?

I think vince will take it out. tmac to poll exceptionally well for the first half, however; his chance to win depends on how highly the coaches rate his second half in terms of standing the opposition etc.

I think viney would have given it a real shake but missing ~6 games could mean it's too hard to catch up.

Is anyone else going?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
