Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Byrnes out, someone younger in please Roosy.

Am I the only one here that thinks the Jeremy Howe in the backline thing is not working. We need him to be the target for the half back flankers to be kicking out to the wing towards. If he's going to play back, take the effing mark FCS, sick of the two handed punch that goes straight down the throat of the waiting bulldog crumbers.

This hurts. We were the better team. Observations:

- umps were ok but Crameri's soft free kick hurt us

- stop Cooney ... he was the difference in last qtr

- Byrnes, Bail both must be dropped and Terlich. ins... Riley, Tapscott (sub), Blease

- Watts cannot break a tackle or even tackle himself

Lots to like, but lost it through a combination of lack of class around the stoppages and a few soft goals, especially Dunn vs Crameri. Would still rather Frawley down back, feel like we're losing more than we gain, though he was better up forward tonight.

Wouldn't mind seeing the stat on "fumbled handball receives". Viney is an absolute gem, but isn't quite at Sam Mitchell level with his quick disposals.

Ironically enough, for all the stick he gets here, felt we didn't look as good once Terlich went off. Sure, he fluffs a few, but we weren't quite getting the same drive off the back half once he was subbed.

Byrnes the new whipping boy it seems. Salem to play a full game and Blease in to cover - though McKenzie's the one who most deserves a call-up it seems.

Byrnes is in because he does the non negotiables. He affects contests better than others such as blessed Strauss toumpas at this stage. They need to be able to do the non negotiables better then will go past him.

Unfortunately Byrnes offensive game is limited these days at afl level.

Pretty sure that having an actual impact on the stat sheet is also a non negotiable.

He's 31, it's not like we are nurturing his talents for the future. He isn't contributing enough. Needs to go.

Reckon we were clearly better but somehow they scored easily. Missed grimes down back, was ok on Griffen but did nothing offensive. Agree we missed Terlich when he went off, he seems to take contested marks and rarely loses a tough one on one. Shattered, we were the better team bar libba, he is our Tyson.

Now that I have calmed down it was a lost opportunity but there are things to work with, we obviously can be attacking by foot off half back, we just can't make it count on the score board. We are battling on well with N Jones being tagged out but Vince and Tyson have stepped up. I like JKH and Salem so there is light at the end of the tunnel. Watts was better but gee he should be able to make a difference up forward when it counts toward the end of the game.

We need to be patient, after all its only been 7 years, these things take time.

Oh, and Roosy would you tell matt jones to practice his running shots on goal all week please. Shattered by his miss at the end there. Really like M. Jones's effort but what good is a line breaker that can't kick?

Throw Hogan back in this side and we have a seriously good young developing core, this side could play finals in 2 years imo

The what ifs and wondering how our season might look with Clark and Hogan in the fwd 50.... Ahhhhh.

Bail isn't going anywhere and Terlich only will if he's injured. Riley's been in good VFL form and Blease was good this week by the sounds of it, but the idea of bringing Tapscott in is laughable. These are changes for the sake of change for mine. Your team on paper looks worse than the one we fielded.

Byrnes is the only player in our team whose spot was doubtful in the leadup, and it's fair to say he didn't answer too many of the questions asked of him this week.

Shannon Byrnes has had three games on the trot in the ones and has floated between ordinary and completely hopeless. There are a few showing decent form at Casey so I will be stunned if he keeps his spot.

Umpires decision turned the game, and Matt Jones miss was the biggest anti climax of all time.

Yeah but he didn't have any big bodies to support him though. We have Dawes and Frawley to take the two best defenders now. I don't think Roos is playing him to his strengths. His one trick (i.e. the speccie) is too dangerous for the backline.

Agreed, he was totally unsighted tonight and when we needed senior players to stand up he was one that was missing. He would've been subbed if Terlich hadn't been knocked out.

We were on top for the first half and that was where we lost it, we didn't put it on the board when we had the play. In the last quarter we had plenty of chances to get ourselves in front but failed with good chances. Matt Jones at the end choked, plain and simple. If you are an AFL footballer you have to nail at least one of those.

I don't think there'll be wholesale changes, Byrnes and Terlich out, Riley and Georgio in.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
