Fitness looks good.

Fritsch forward finally.

Bring on the season.

Yep pretty good showing in the marsh cup looking forward to round 1!

3 from 3 (I refuse to count the Essendon game as we played next to no one in it, plus it doesn't suit my narrative...)

Pretty much no injuries (fingers crossed for AVB and Weid)

Some encouraging signs, especially with the defensive unit

Gawny made a successful comeback

Fritsch kicks 5, Milkshake 4

We'll roll the Eagles by 10 goals in Round 1.

Bring it on!

Fritsch to kick 70+

Melksham is a gun

May, Lever, Lockhart yes yes yes

Langdon and Tomlinson brilliant recruits

Bring on Round 1.. no excuses.

Always good to beat those ugly brown and golds, in anything.

Gawn and VDB taken off as a precautionary purposes.

Gawn just mentioned Vanders was injured

I’ll take credit for this stirring victory.

When I ran into the boys at the airport yesterday, my inspirational words to Jake Lever were obviously passed onto the rest of the group, lighting the fire in the belly on their quest for glory.

You’re welcome...

*mic drop

A good hitout. There is a lot of competition for spots on the flight west for R1.

How many possies did he get?

Match high 33 disposals. Fantastic all game.

Couldn't watch any of the game. A poster talked about how good defence looks.

What role did May have in this re organising etc. Same query for lever?

Thoughts?

BOG for me just ahead of Fritter. Lever really impressed and Lockhart is a beauty.

Bedford looked dangerous

Bedford looked impressive from limited minutes, will certainly give Pickett a run for his money for that small forward role if not rd 1 early into the season

Ball movement infinitely better with Langdon and Tomlinson running the wings

Wouldnt mind 10 of Bayley Fritsch

Was great seeing May looking happy out there and the back 6 settled

Lockhart massively impressive down back, great composure with ball in hand and should make his way into the rd 1 side

As hard as it is being optimistic about this club at times, this preseason has been exceptional and the boys have set themselves up well for a good crack at the season. Will have nowhere to hide and no one to blame if this all goes belly up.

Go Dees!

Defensive setups looked vastly superior to last season. Hawks might have got out the back once in the entire game. Lockhart looks at home down back and for me he is best 22.

Toby was good too

Ecellent call . Was disgraceful.

Not all perfect, but it didn't have to be, and we did something we haven't done in a long time, take control and run a game out! We actually look fit. So many positives. Fritter, Tomlinson, Trac, Langdon, Lockhart, Lever, Milkshake. Like what I see of Jackson and Bedford.

I think we'll beat the Eagles in R1. We're coming in with some form and by the looks of it self belief. Can't wait!

WOW! Tomlinson and Langdon it is amazing to have two very talented ready made players extra experience to boost our stocks.

That is what you call depth.

Jackson,  Lockhart and Bedford   future  looked good for us.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
