All the best to Ben and really do hope he's turned the corner. Drug addiction is a [censored] of a thing.9 points

If we play such a predictable forward entry game, bombing it to the left forward pocket boundary every time, then it suggests that JJ was playing to instructions, as if he wasn’t, he would have been dropped or changed the way he played. As Adonski just posted, he was 4th in the B&F at round 16. Obviously the Coaches thought he was playing well and to instructions. I posted on DL before JJ had played a senior game and when most on DL wanted him delisted, that he would be a senior player. Incidentally, were you one of the ones who wanted him delisted? I don’t blame JJ for his slowing the game down, I blame the Coaching.5 points

100% this. What is JJ or any of our mids meant to do when more often than not our forwards push so high up the ground. Would love to see 3 stay at home forwards, isolate Kossie, isolate Fritsch and heaven forbid that we actually played to Ben Browns strengths and kicked the ball to him one on one or in a lead to space situation. Our forward line set up and leading patterns are poor. I am hoping that Santa leaves a “specialist” forward line coach Under the MFC Christmas tree4 points

The Perth Demons story is very similar to the Melbourne Demons. A once powerful club, that completely lost its way and has continue to do so since the mid 70s. This is either going to go completely pear shaped or make the club half relevant again. The club has always found a way to lose its way. There board looks to be very strong now, a few ex players, would be worried about CEO though4 points

That’s pretty much it Rab. Police costs are the big problem - outside a ground these are met by the local constabulary but the home club pays for any policing inside the stadium as it’s on ‘private’ property. There’s a much lower police presence inside grounds now as clubs rely on cheaper minimum wage stewards backed by extensive cctv systems to act as a deterrent. This works ok at the top of the pyramid but grounds are less safe as you drop down the leagues. Outside is where most issues arise and police are on hand to deal with it. They still over-rely on cctv and handheld video recorders to gather evidence (rather than intervene!) for the subsequent 5am knock on the door but that’s another issue. We’ve got a new breed of hoolie blighting the game over here now - feral, wannabe kids in their knock-off Stone Island/CP Company clobber, most of them sniffed-up to the eyeballs. They part-model themselves on European ultras with fan-marches, pyro and self-promotion on social media but they still hang around after the game hoping to get a sly dig at an unsuspecting away fan. I really hope last week’s lunacy was a one-off and the APL and police come down hard on the perps. They need to get a grip before such behaviour becomes mainstream.4 points

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all on DL. We got more flags in 2022 which was awsome and well deserved for Daisy, Paxy, the women's team and the Casey guys. I'm still craving watching a senior one at the MCG with all the faithful.2 points

Jimmer Jordon was 4th in the b&f after round 16 Tough to believe he wasn't playing to instruction and/or had limited options to actually go fast to when accused of holding the ball up He is criminally underrated on here, while we have mids like Sparrow who provide half the output who get a pump up every time they take a p1$s2 points

Good luck to him in his rehabilitation but those Perth Demons are something else. Their colours are red and black, not red and blue.2 points

Yeah, it left me wondering who is responsible for paying for the policing and security at A League games and whether there is an agreement for only stewards and security to be present inside the ground. I think in the UK the police decide how many officers are required for an event before it can get the green light to go ahead and the home club pays for their time and resources.2 points

Membership holders still get to attend. Looks like they've been flogged with a wet lettuce leaf by the APL. Next three home games should be played behind closed doors with all travelling support banned at away games for the same duration. I'm an ex Victory member but this needs to be stamped out now for good. Unless they're intent on kicking more own goals they also need to ensure that no state league sides introduced to any second division when it's created has any ethnic affiliation or they'll be laying the groundwork for a repeat of what just happened.2 points

Fritta's job is to kick goals. He does it well to our advantage. He snaps goals that Kozzie would be proud of while leading, marking and finishing in a style that TMac or BBB would be proud of. No complaints with his performances.2 points

Yes Merry Christmas to everyone. Has been a tough year personally but having a football team to be proud of has certainly helped. Many thanks to@Demonland,@binmanand @george_on_the_outer for your contributions this year and delivering a great service.2 points

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. It is a tough Christmas for me because my 92 year old Mum died on Saturday 10th December from bladder cancer. We had a wonderful memorial service for Mum on Wednesday 21st December. Thank you to Andy and team for running a great website.2 points

Yes, compliments of the season to members of the Demonland family everywhere, and especially to Andy, and all those involved in keeping this wonderful ‘meeting place’ up and running for all Dees fans2 points

To drag this thread back to Clarry: it makes you marvel at the level that he was playing at in circumstances where he had difficulties with his handballing and dominant hand!2 points

Freo finishing last would be nice - of course we'd all love to see that But it won't be happening. I was terribly disappointed Jackson left. I have now come to terms with his leaving and feel we will actually be a better and more consistent team with Grundy as his replacement To me he is the biggest loser - he's walked away from a great team, a club with a huge amount of history and the opportunity to play alongside the best ruck and arguably the two best midfielders in the competition I still feel he will regret his decision in due course2 points

I'm convinced that speed is more a product of ball movement, not leg speed. Teams that have a higher handball:kick ratio will be slower because the ball moves more slowly up the ground.2 points
