Don't mind this. One of the fittest players going around in the competition and one thing he does bring is quick ball movement and speed. He's actually a bit like Ed Langdon in that he'll hit a target 30m up the field and then follow up again with a hand pass and reset again. He's contracted though, I hope Brisbane aren't similar to Dersken. I also like this because he's still only 21 so there's lot of growth and improvement left unlike the past recruits who've had of recent. Still plenty and growth and development left, and knows, could have a Toby Bedford breakout season hopefully.16 points

Matthew Lloyd saw him cleaning out his closet and he saw one of the babies and the baby looked at him.15 points

Ollie is coming along nicely. Spoke with him at the B&F. On Insta you can see a group photo with Kolt, Howes, Windsor, Woey & Brown, the young Brigade. He is as tall as Howes. He had a monster pre-season this year and shredded all the puppy fat. He is doing all the right things and, after a European holiday, will be back into it. He certainly has the passion and desire to make the grade. The team manager at Casey speaks highly of him and agrees that Ollie is a natural footballer who needs to improve his tank. He ran 4th in the Casey B&F and when in the midfield at Casey was great at clearances. He is one of WCW's favourite young players14 points

You don't sell a late model Ferrari for 5K on eBay. Even if it was in an accident and needs repairs. We need to be properly compensated. A future 1st (probably pick 14 to 18) is an insult. If he were a free agent this year we would most likely get pick 6 in compensation. That's a starting point. If Geelong want him they need to get busy. We shouldn't accept anything less than 2 early first rounders for arguably the greatest ever Demon. Let's hope Geelong don't ask for a roadworthy.14 points

He heads back home to Echuca every off season for a bit. I was lucky enough to have a quick kick with him as he was running laps around Vic Park (Echuca's home ground) last off season. Other than playing some junior footy in Mooroopna to get into the Bushrangers, I doubt he has many other reasons to be heading to Shepparton. I've had a bit to do with him and think he's a ripper of a lad. Sadly, he'll never have the polish of a Brayshaw, will to be individually the GOAT like Trac or grow a social media/business empire like Gawn. He's just a simple country lad from hard working parents with sadly (sorry Clayton), probably not a great deal going on in his scone. He desperately needs good role models around him to get the best out of him as without these I do worry about what will happen to him career wise.13 points

Yes we love ANB. Drafted with pick 40, turns into an ultimate professional footballer, works on his weaknesses, plays in a premiership, his mum sits in the cheer squad wearing a red wig, stays 10 years, his family comes to the last training session all in Demons gear, and we get pick 28 for him. Draft another please. I mean what did Bris get for Joe D - nothing;13 points

We at Demonland don't have a problem with discussion proceeding on this subject but have to remind posters once again that we have a code of conduct and personal abuse to other posters will not be tolerated. In that regard, any further instances of personal abuse of posters on this thread will result in a minimum of seven days suspension from the site. Thank you.13 points

I thought this too initially, but the more I think on it, the more I like it. Yes, it was a throw away line from Lloyd, but that's not really how it's being reported. And if it was figurative, I don't mind if it means they have to correct themselves and be more literal, which would then become 'No, he hasn't cleaned out his locker because he's leaving.' Great, so what proof do you have he is still trying to get out. And I think the answer is none, or at least nothing new. For the record, I'm not one of those who thinks this whole thing is a media beat up. But I do think the last couples days has been them trying to keep this alive. And if this shot from Green makes it harder, good on him12 points

If Clarrie goes this will all be on him We haven't mistreated him and we've been extremely patient And we've given the bloke any number of chances to mend his ways Sometimes people just go rogue and you have to part company It's really nothing personal unless you want to hang on to how great a player he has been. And that's hard to let go of I hope he stays and gets his best footy back but if not, I wish him well12 points

Had a read of the Brisbane Bigfooty forum and the overall vibe about Sharp was positive: Reasonably disappointed to see him go Excellent athletically Was said to be dominant in an early season VFL game over Casey which may have piqued our interest MCG will suit his playing style and Langdon could be a good mentor Disposal iffy (but who hasn't got iffy disposal at the MFC) And some here say comments: Apparently Fullarton and his Dad not are not overly excited about being at the MFC. A certain someone that is no longer on the list will be a positive for the MFC in terms of behavioural and cultural issues. The player was mentioned numerous times on their forum.11 points

On Insta, he's playing golf Echuca and training with Marty Hore in Gunbower. Hell of a commute to have cleaned out his locker!11 points

SEN just interviewed their footy manager Danny Daly. He confirmed that we've shown heavy interest in Sharp and gave the impression that they won't stand in his way unlike another club I can think of. Fair possibility he'll be with us next year.11 points

This to me is a smart potential trade. On the cusp of their best 22 but held out through their depth of midfield. Vic boy. Strong runner. Wont cost the earth and at 21 potential upside in development and potentially fills holes in list left by ANB and Hunter.11 points

Just saw Brad Greens tweet. What I took out of that tweet is how annoying it would be going from aami Park to casey10 points

Why? He's always been active on Twitter. Seems like as president you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. Roffey was criticised for being quiet, now Greey's being criticised for speaking out? They can't win either way, can they?10 points

I heard the story of a Melb CBD university clearing out an entire seven story building due to a 'gas leak' only for the fire brigade to discover it was a durian fruit left in a locker by an international student9 points

I can't remember which topic I posted this in, but I lodged an integrity complaint with the AFL about the condoning ie allowing Damian Barrett to undermine the club on their website, including calling Tim Lamb a liar. I got a reference number but as yet I have not received a reply, so I followed it up with an email to Andrew Dillon. Going to give him a couple of days before I follow up again. If anyone else feels strongly enough about the treatment the club is receiving on the website from so called journalists, his email is easy [email protected]9 points

I would personally clean out my locker at the end of the season, just to come back to a nice, clean one for the start of preseason Could this just be a simple misunderstanding? lol9 points

paul amy with a piece on ricky mentha... https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/draft/gippsland-powers-ricky-mentha-on-verge-of-realising-afl-dream-with-melbourne/news-story/5263544c5e169d41dbb28dd5ceba0743 Gippsland Power dasher Ricky Mentha took a shine to “Kozzy’’ Pickett when he trained with Melbourne briefly last year. Now the AFL draft aspirant is on the brink of being handed a chance to unite with Pickett and the Demons and live an AFL dream he formed in Alice Springs. In what would be a historic move for the Demons, they are considering taking their Next Generation Academy member as a Category B rookie after watching his progress with Gippsland Power in the Coates Talent League in the past two years. Mentha, 18, is from Alice Springs (part of Melbourne’s zone), where he represented the NT in under-age football and basketball. Melbourne recruiting boss Jason Taylor first saw Mentha playing barefoot in an eight-a-side football game on a ground the size of a soccer pitch.8 points

The way they tweeted it and it has since been re reported by other media outlets certainly doesn’t give that nuance, so it’s fair play. Most ppl will only read the click bate headline and look no further and assume more drama at dees. It’s gutter journalism and should be treated as such8 points

I quite like Brad Green's public 'Presidential Persona' - the center square line at the BnF and little jibes like this on social media. Bit of a refreshing change for an MFC President to play the media soundbite game.8 points

That's fair enough. But I actually really appreciate us having a go back for once. We've been under seige for more than a year and have just been copping it. I'm not against Goody and others' approach of being "a good Melbourne person" and being pragmatic and not dodoro when dealing with player movement... as I think these things are important to be successful ina sustainable way. But we are under seige and no one has flown the flag... Don't get me started on Maynard at Kings Birthday! So I actually appreciate Brad for pushing back - about time someone did!8 points

Anyone remember the good old days when the only media footy gossip we got over summer was the 5 minute long Bemm River Report every Sunday on World of Sport with Jack Dyer and Louie The Lip?8 points

I’m a big fan of the president BURNING Lloyd. Outstanding ridicule. more please!8 points

Barrett has been proven to be uninformed and a liar repeatedly over the years. Take anything he says with a grain of salt. He's a liar and a cancer on the industry and sport at large8 points

Oliver is under contract. You just don’t sign a contract and decide the fresh air & farm life is appealing. If there’s no great offer in a trade, then enforce the NOT TO BE TRADED message. The media loves the drama and hearsay.8 points

Pert will tell you what you want to believe and you'll take the bait like any other gullible fan does. He's not going to tell cheer squad member the true depths of what's happening behind the scenes.8 points

ANB played as an extra mid, massive tank just ran up and back all day. Sounds like this guy is the same. We should offer 28, 40, 49 to Brisbane for Sharp and pick 20.8 points

I feel like this myself to be honest - would seriously hurt the eyeballs. I'd rather keep him still and pay $200k to full time mentor. Try and get someone like a James McDonald around him to keep him on the straight and narrow. Yes, its an additional cost but I don't really care. Having him at his best is worth it IMO and I can't be bothered going through a rebuild. Should he need a mentor and more support, no, he shouldn't, he's an adult. But some people just need the additional support and sadly, there are always two sets of rules around 'culture' in sporting clubs. One set for the superstars and one set for the remaining players. I have no idea how many stuff ups Clayton has made and refuse to believe some of the [censored] in the media/social media. I find it amazing hearing all of these naughty things he is apparently doing with no footage of it - especially when he is clearly identifiable and the whole world now have access to filming content on there phones. I do know meeting him a couple times that he has a very alert, excited and energised look to him which I think would be misconstrued for him being up to no good. He has had the look to him since he was a child. Anyway, a few weeks ago I think reading here somewhere, he was super keen on a trip to the US or something to get super fit in readiness for the new season. Hopefully he can get through all of this noise and remain 100% committed to this and get back to his best in 2025. I still have faith he can get there.7 points

My view on the Oliver situation is that we, the MFC management, have decided to take off the mollycoddling gloves and call him out on the behaviors that continue and are problematic. That part of this process is to let him know if he doesn’t like it, he can look elsewhere and if he can get paid the same and the MFC are fairly compensated (picks) then we’d be open to parting. But not at our expense (I.e. we’re not paying his salary elsewhere nor accepting unders). The point being forcing Clarry to realise how good he has it at MFC and to light a fire under him to take more responsibility for his behaviour. Pert has the role of bad cop in this, others I’m sure are playing the good cop role. it’s an internal player behavior issue that has, unfortunately, spilled into the public space. Which may be a good thing if it gets Clarry back focused on footy, and more mature in his interactions with club and players… just speculation :)7 points

Sure we have Langdon and Windsor already but there's no guarantee they'll be fit for all 23 games. You need depth at every position. Many bemoaned the loss of Jordon and Harmes, it's about time we recovered some depth. He's still young but has 4 years in the system so physically he should be ready to play AFL footy, if not, at least he improves Casey. Victorian too so who knows if being back home might help.7 points
