Hang on, so everyone has spent the past 3 months frothing over Hawthorn and then win one final against an ordinary Bulldogs and get bounced out in a semi against Port Adelaide... Brilliant. Now we just need Geelong out next week and I'll be happy.11 points

Incumbent on pert and the board to kick up a stink here We play too nice it stinks10 points

Anyone who posts on Demonland that our flag didn’t count or that we only won it because of Covid needs to be banned. It is a disgraceful take from anyone who truly loves this club.10 points

Can’t recall seeing a negative comment about Hogan on here in a long time. I would think it’s quite unique that so many supporters from his ex team would have such a soft spot for him. I know I do.9 points

Agree entirely. I found it to be personally offensive that he discussed the situation that way. The days when people are identified by religion, race or nationality when they enter sporting arenas or anywhere else through different entrances or that those things should determine your viewpoint of a person’s performance should be a thing of a distant past and he should be ashamed of himself for the way in which he’s conducted himself on this issue. It’s not a reflection of my Jewish values.9 points

A conversation I had this week with a current connection of MFC. started with I can say anything sorry, elaborated to: - Trac wants two of Roffey, Pert, Richardson gone. - Senior players disappointed with how Trac let it play out, his parents heavily involved. - We are chasing one of WCE forwards pretty hard (didn’t say which one) Nothing to ground breaking really…7 points

Some ridiculous arguments on this thread. As if having term limits aren't a good thing, which we wouldn't have without Peter Lawrence. The board could have accepted a number of positions without dragging it through the courts, which they eventually accepted anyway. Posters saying they don't want to hear from other candidates and therefore want a closed shop are truly staggering. This current board puts their mates in positions prior to elections when board vacancies come about and then lobby for them through official channels come election time. They've done it repeatedly. It's electioneering and is not only not best practice, it's not done by any other club in the league.7 points

What was abnormal about that season was how much harder winning a flag was unless you were from WA. Every game was played, and played at full minutes, unlike in 2020, where the season was severely compromised. We then had to win not one, not two, but three finals away from the MCG. It was a far more difficult flag to win than just about any other. The Dogs had the same number of days in Perth to prepare. Also a reminder that it was their fault they had a more difficult schedule, having failed to qualify inside the top 4.7 points

or... what made their side so unique in 2024 will be irrevocably changed, teams have a summer to work out how to curb their ball movement, and they'll be in that clutch of teams batting for 5-13... ...so exactly where they were this year football is crazy even and the margins between positions are slim7 points

Not necessarily popular here, but... Brisbane, please, please, please, beat Geelong. Then, regardless of the Sydney/Port outcome, a non-Victorian GF. Beautifully unwatchable.6 points

I'm genuinely pleased that he's come through such a lot and is at this point. Always had it in him.6 points

Hogan's a mile ahead of anyone for contested marking craft. Taken the mantle over from Hawkins. Very good on the lead up timing as well.6 points

Basically, the only thing Trac has actually said throughout the whole affair is that pre-made packet spinach & ricotta ravioli from his good friends at Casa Della Pasta makes for a great post-workout meal, especially for elite athletes such as himself under pressure to perform while the light is still good. Is was then reported that his nonna thinks the MFC is obviously a very bad influence on her cherished angel and clearly hasn't done enough to protect his mental health. She's certain no one at Carlton would have let the situation get so out hand that Christian is now eating pasta barely fit for a dog.6 points

He had a really horrible run when he was with us. Losing his dad and getting cancer. Doesn’t get much worse for a 21 year old. Seeing him succeed now is really nice to see. Really can’t see how you’d begrudge him.5 points

I think Freo supporters will be crying more at Jesse's performance. They gave us pick 6 for Hogan and traded him for pick 54.5 points

Jesse always had the talent. I still maintain he wouldn’t have made it in Melbourne or Freo. Escaping the limelight and moving to Sydney has been a blessing for him.5 points

Brisbane are one of my top 17 most hated clubs😂 I do actually like watching GWS. They play good football and they only have one truly punchable head in Toby Green, but he’s also an insane player to watch so they’re ok by me5 points

...and don't our players know it. They have friends who they played with, who are now at other clubs, so they know exactly what others have and we don't. They will have seen for themselves with just a short trip across the road to Collngwood or to Tullarmarine, or to Whitten oval or to Carlton, or know what Hawthorn are building at Dingley.5 points

A reminder that last year Craig McRae leading into our final against them, told the media at the end of his press conference: “see you in two weeks”. Didn’t hear anyone get stuck into him.5 points

I'm usually one for getting nice new shiny toys, but after our trades over the past 3 years, I'd rather we went through the draft and got a batch of 5-6 kids in the door. I would be more than happy with another couple of kids of the calibre of Windsor and Tholstrup. Watching the Casey team this season being filled with failed recruits from other clubs, and very little junior talent, I have more confidence in Jason Taylor than Tim Lamb/Alan Richardson.5 points

I'm not sure why I'm bothering to respond, as your impartial rhetoric is tiresome and you're clearly once again being disingenuous here. Peter Lawrence desperately wishes to be on the MFC board, as evidenced by his nominating to be on the board and perusing costly avenues for both himself and the club to further that cause. They are some decent-sized chips. Please do not reply with some BS that all of us have chips in the game as members of the MFC, or make your case that those measures are for the betterment of the football club, or suggest that I should waste half my weekend reading a judge's report from an institution that I don't respect. All these responses would be beside the point. Nobody whatsoever believes that he is simply just some freedom-fighter championing the cause of democracy for the benefit of we the people. You would be better off dropping the nonsense and being transparent without all the character stuff about why you believe Peter would be a better administrator of the club than those presently performing the role. When posters sometime question whether you are Peter himself, it's not just some old 'Hi Peter' internet joke. I suspect many on here genuinely believe it to be a possibility, and I can understand how they might have that perception. I'm more confused by how you seem to be oblivious as to how they might have that perception. It's great that you have Peter's back - all the best to you and your mate. But I don't think you're doing any favours to his cause by coming on here and distorting events to suit your narrative, taking cheap shots, and using semantics to argue the same point over and over again like a politician. People don't like politicians.5 points

Also just one more time, but Collingwood or Carlton having a good draft hand does not mean that we are automatically going fo deal with them. I understand win-win negotiations as much as anyone but with 5 years left and the chaos this has caused I'm not super concerned with getting the perfect outcome for Trac. This is how it's coming across from a lot of people even if they don't mean it. The fact is that we are in control and if the narrative really is that the place is terrible and he wants to leave, then he can leave to where we say. Once again, if the problem is our club and the solution is to get out then unless those clubs have a war chest, your choices are Richmond, West Coast, Gold Coast, Tasmania pick your poison. If he doesn't like it at first, then his manager can do what he's paid for and talk him around to it. He's welcome to keep going for his 'perfect trade' at the new club and use them as a nest featherering station (like we could be for him next year) or he could just stay here. Wanting to leave and then pricing yourself out because you only were only prepared to go to 2 clubs would say more about him than us.5 points

Hinkley had a crack well before Sicily fired back. While he should've kept his emotions in check, so too should've Siss not gone on and on and on with it, even while he was chairing off his good mate. To my mind that's typical Hawthorn Regardless of their ages, if you give krap, you have to be prepared to take it. They are all adults. None of Hinkley, Sicily or Ginnavan covered themselves in glory this week But good on Hinkley for apologising in his presser. That should be the end of it. Watch the Hawks now blow it up in the aftermath of the loss5 points

AMW is quick, is clean, has above average kicking skills, showed plenty in all but one of his games for MFC. What's not to like? This year, out of all the listed players at Casey, he was the standout for mine. He will make it, and he will be in our round 1 side.5 points

Your information about the amount he owes is incorrect. Last reports were that the shortfall was around $300,000 but, as much as I would like to see him fork up the money, he technically owes nothing because of the bankruptcy in the intervening time period. Morally, I don't believe he should be using his former position as a club President and benefactor to utter a single word about the club to anyone including the media whilst that amount remains unpaid. He should STFU.5 points

as i believe it very much should be. Why would we want Whateley or any other media person publicly interviewing candidates for our club? Its none of their [censored] business.4 points

I have to assume this is a cynical take George as his turnovers got worse in the latter block of games He actually looked 'ok' in small patches during some games but his lack of.penetratiom and inability to kick goals is a major weakness. Also as a small HHF or winger covering for Windsor he doesn't bring much pressure when we don't have the ball. This last part killed us in general this season. We were a terrible pressure team for the most part, only making the AFL average of 180 on a few occasions. You look at GWS & Sydney's pressure levels in the last quarter of their final GWS off the charts at 227! Yet just pipped by Sydney if you can believe it at 232 We were a mile off these teams at their best this season in this regard. Billings and the likes of McAdam (when he played) great examples of who you don't want in your team going forward IF they can't find this aspect coming into 2025. Need to move them on and quickly if so and replace with better.4 points

I’ll field this one. As it’s quite straightforward. A poster pointed out there are several other posters on this forum who don’t contribute to any other topics other than this one, and only do so to bag the board and promote Peter Lawrence. You would be one of those posters the OP was referring to. You then thought a reversal of the statement would be a clever retort, but failed in your ‘flex’. That’s because there are simply no posters on this forum who just bag Peter Lawrence and promote the board without also contributing to other topics. It would be an easy statement to decipher for someone with a bit of self-awareness.4 points

Probably not the best public display by a coach in Ken Hinkley. He may get a fine. Having said that, Jack Ginnivan gave the ammunition with his social media post. That was foolish of him. What disappoints me more is that Simon Goodwin didn't at least attempt to use what happened to Angus Brayshaw by that vile thug Brayden Maynard when we next played Collingwood this year in the King's Birthday Game. We were as soft as butter and players were shaking Maynard's hand?! It was humiliating and will remain an embarrassment until vengeance is served back cold against Collingwood and Maynard. Angus Brayshaw will hopefully get justice one day whether it is on the field or in the court room we shall wait and see.4 points

Nope. I commend him for it. Ginnivan was completely out of line. Had it coming. Listening to Sam have a sook in the presser… Chris Scott gonna have some competition.4 points

Ok maybe I'm living in delusion, and I am on the other side of the world so perhaps not reading the temperature, but given the statement that came out last week with Trac reaffirming his commitment to Melbourne and the club reiterating that he's not going anywhere, doesn't anyone else feel that these stories continuing are actually the media just drumming up more fuel to put on the fire and keep the story going? I mean it's been widely stated that no club has the ability to not only trade for him and satisfy with contract requirements. Is this all just drip-fed info to keep the story rolling between each finals week? I dunno, maybe it's just me wearing my rose-tinted specs. Also the media can go suck a fat one on this, they have reported time and time again that the mental toll and trauma that Trac has experienced, at yet they are quite happy to keep drumming this up and keep it front page. Get stuffed.4 points
