Big shout out to Tommy Mac and also Kade Chandler for last night. A willingness to compete, work-rate, spread, chase, harass, energy. All non negotiables that I expect from my team. I don’t expect us to win every game but I do want to see effort. Cannot fault these two last night. Well done!!!19 points

Collingwood supporters melting down online because Kozzy only got 3 weeks and Moore will miss the rest of the season.10 points

You might not care but i do. We were playing the pies. And they pantsed us. Again.10 points

Well, so it ends. From the Oliver trade story 11 months ago, into Joel Smith, into copping a fixture that we now can see was as difficult as could be, into Gus, we had an off-season we all wanted to believe we'd put behind us, but which ultimately wrecked us before we even set foot onto the SCG for Opening Round. At the absolute least, the capitulation from 6-2 and 4th on the ladder after Round 8 to 11-12 and in the bottom 6 with a sub-100% percentage tells us that we do not have the right list, coaching staff and general approach to contend, so it forces us to change. We can't sit still, make list changes at the fringes, and go again. Already seen a stack of posters going on about getting a key forward. That's not the number one issue. The number one issue is, and has been all year, our midfield. Even assuming Trac and Clarry get back to their peak levels next year, we don't have enough depth or support through the middle, nor do we have anywhere near enough quality ball users. We need a complete re-think of how we approach the midfield in 2025. After the midfield, I don't want an A-grade forward as much as I want a cheap third tall who can ruck and therefore allow us to stop rucking JVR. It's wasting his development. I don't hate Petty as a forward as much as others (although I find it hard to run that argument when we gave him 20 games this year for 9 goals) but if the consequence of getting a proper second ruck is that we have to play Petty back, that's not exactly a bad thing. And the other thing I care about? Our fitness. We didn't have repeat soft tissue injuries but we also didn't look fit enough for most of the year. We won just 10 of our 23 fourth quarters, which is a shadow of the side we were in 2021-23. Whatever approach we took to fitness this year failed IMO. Let's celebrate the wins of the year (getting Windsor, Rivers in the middle, McVee again (but not as a mid), Gawn's hopeful 7th AA jacket) but acknowledge that on most measurements this was a failure.10 points

umps are directed not to give head high frees if a player drops the knee. why can't the same logic be applied here? Moore went to ground and Kossie didn't have time to react.9 points

Didn’t expect to win but a bit of effort would have been nice. There was a lot of unforced, just plain lazy turnovers9 points

The whole team needs to learn to tackle. We’ve been out tackled all year. Fritsch glides one arm across the front of opposition players and then barely chases. Sure he’s great out the back and maybe people are right by saying it’s our ball movement. However tackling and harassing is an all team non negotiable and he’s not delivering. That’s on the coaches now as it’s been that way for sometime. We also need to learn to break tackles, according to me it all comes down to the tackle.9 points

OMG. Playing in his first season, so only one preseason. Full of exuberance and energy, but has yet to adapt to the pace of AFL. Yet you call it a disaster. Strange interpretation of an interrupted debut season.9 points

Booing Maynard was cathartic. And it put him off his game. He is already a bog ordinary footballer, but boy did he stink it up tonight. I hope we boo him like that for the rest of his miserable garbage career. A gutless thug.9 points

I’m 100% convinced Moore did not suffer concussion. Collingwood are an unethical organisation, wouldn’t put it past them9 points

He'll miss 2025's Opening Round, Preliminary Round, Additional Round, and Extra Round, and will be available for Round One9 points

We currently hold pick 6 thanks to Gold Coast. Keep it dees and get a 12 year gun midfielder.8 points

We learned a lot of lessons last night, including: Tomlinson is done. Slower than slow. Hore is a VFL standard player. Too slow, poor kick and decision maker McVee is not a midfielder. He isn’t quick enough off the mark or strong enough. And he has an ordinary left foot. Laurie is a VFL standard player. Too slow. Too small. Woewodin is not up to it. Salem is not quick enough. (We already know this.) Fritsch is only a valuable player if played close to goal. For a skilful player, he is an ordinary kick inside 50.8 points

I thought we competed reasonably well given how out classed we were. Our skills are bottom 4. Out attempts to move the ball through the corridor were hapless at times. We can't execute simple handballs at pace. It's a big concern. On a positive, I really like what disco Turner has offered us this year. Showed well again last year, took some marks and kicked an excellent set shot in the 3rd. He has cemented his forward role for us.8 points

@Demon Dynasty @layzie Take care the both of you. Times are certainly tough and I deal with these issue on a day to day basis as part of my line of work. My DM is always open if in need of a chat.8 points

I'm being selective but I can remember in the 2018 EF against Geelong (a side that had bullied us for years) we were absolutely ruthless and it was obvious from the opening bounce that they were the ones who were spooked. It would be great if we could bring that sort of mongrel next time we play Collingwood.8 points

I really hope the young man is not reading this thread If you are - keep giving 100%. The same people wrote ANB and many others off at your age8 points

Tonight he had the third most clearances on the ground for either team despite only playing 26% game time.8 points

AFL loves to run the term “duty of care” and apply that players owe a duty of care, but have not accepted the other key element of negligence, which is a defence of ‘contributory negligence’. That is, that the injured party in some way contributed to their own injuries. The MRO is a corrupt kangaroo court, a joke of a judicial body.7 points

I hope the club goes hard on this. Kozzie could not have predicted Moore dropping to his knees in that split second… Just do it for us supporters MFC. Show us you have some cojones. Do not employ Anderson with this either. Enough is enough.7 points

I’d support any candidate who wants to build a wall around the MCG and keep Collingwood supporters out.7 points

Laurie had only 26% TOG and ended the night 7 disposals, 5 contested, 4 clearances, 3 tackles and going disposal efficiency of 71% in the pouring rain. He's not the problem most think he is, particularly as a depth player. He also scored top 5 for speed in attack showing he's got good repeat efforts. If he spent more than 5 minutes in the team I suspect his defensive running patterns and positioning would improve. I'll drop it for now as most don't want to hear it and seem to have made up their mind about him after last year. He's earned his spot on the list as a depth player.7 points

All those saying Moore caused it by sliding are right but it won't change the outcome. The AFL will say "if you elect to bump you wear the consequences". It's absolute garbage because if the roles were reversed you know what the result would be but because it is Melbourne and even more so because it is Pickett he will get weeks. The umpiring tonight was farcical, this would be the cherry on top. AFL are a corrupt organisation run and officiated by inbred maggots. Sick of the lot of them.7 points

Have you ever had to deal with anxiety or depression? If yes, you know that it can come and go when you least expect it. If not, I suggest not passing judgement.7 points

But it was a football act riiiigghttt, moore should apologise for making contact with kozzy's elbow. if the roles were reversed moore would receive a medal from the afl exec for hitting kozzy. Sick of the bias and flagrant misuse of power that always goes against us.6 points
-
I keep hearing the phrase he “elected to bump”. The ball was in dispute, so couldn’t square up to tackle, he had to make contact with the Moore to then get to the football. If Kossie instead dives in front of Moore to grab the ball he risks a dangerous below the knees act. Only legal action now it seems, is to slow down and let Moore grab the ball!6 points
-
He is one who absolutely needs to be hit between the eyes during his exit interview. So many clips of efforts which are substandard and very much part of getting hurt on rebounds6 points
-
Should get off, but won't. Sadly. Meanwhile Maynard who deliberately clobbered a player who will never play again as a result and had zero penalty, had the audacity to take issue with Kozzie. Makes me sick.6 points
-
I hope the club asks for the medical report from the Pies. Curious that Moore was ok to continue to play before mysteriously being subbed out when the game was basically all one way traffic. Sometimes stinks.6 points
-
Don’t think it’s fair to paint Kozzy with this brush this time around. Was doing what every player should be doing in those circumstances- engage your opponent, get them off balance and win the ball. Only difference here is that Moore disappears through the floor after Kozzy had moved to engage Moore. Once he’d committed to engaging Moore with his momentum, he can’t shift it.6 points
-
In the slow mo freeze frame before the hit Moore is standing up and any bump if there was one would be be to Moore’s waist. When Moore drops in the last second Kozzie’s feet are moved and he falls hitting Moore with his arm. Moore caused this but we know what will happen.6 points
-
Agree with that and the challenge for the FD is to get him to improve in the other areas. Trade him and you won’t get value and will lose goals. He needs to improve his defensive game, tackling, pressure and field disposal. That can be done. There is more to gain by improving his game, than trading him for under value. Last night like in some other games he turned it over nearly every possession and his pressure was actually non existent.6 points
-
Last night looked a bit like the Bulldogs game where we could've lost by a lot more if the opposition had finished better in front of goal. Our midfield was non-existent (somewhat understandably) and that's been the big issue for much of the year. With Brayshaw, Oliver, Petracca and Viney in the side the other coach ends up playing whack-a-mole but it's a different story with only Vines (being tagged?) in there. It wasn't just that though as Collingwood mostly owned us on the outside and in the air as well. It's difficult to gauge where we are as a side right now with key players missing and Windsor and McVee aside, not really knowing how much upside the rest of the young group has yet. Looking back it seems like we spent the whole season trying to play Harry Petty into form in the senior team for a measly 9 goal return.6 points
-
Get off the coach's back. Look at what he had to use on the field tonight then you may understand why we lost.6 points

Sad way to end a terrible year. I was really hoping to finish on the up with a win over the Pies (especially after we looked good last week) but not to be. It's unbearable losing to them, especially in such pathetic fashion.6 points

I hope this kid isn't the new whipping boy. He wasn't as awful as everyone seems to think. He hardly played and has a crack. He didn't set the world in fire but not many of our players did. I'm not giving up hope, let's get around the kid and see what he can do next season.6 points

I thought the same. Nibbler was in and out of the side until we were able to find the right role for him and it clicked. Same with Nev Jetta. Let's hope for a similar outcome here.6 points

3 votes N Daicos was clearly clearly best on ground runs runs runs uses the footy to perfection 80% disposal efficiency 40 possessions one grab player no fumbles does not slip over uses footy to advantage of next player … not to their feet … not behind them DOESNT EVEN TRY TO KICK WITH HIS OPPOSITE FOOT EVER massive score involvement massive metres gained accelerate into space zero defensive game but who cares !!!! I hate the pies I hate the pies but Nick Daicos plays the game with such composure and smarts. our mids could learn 10 things from this kid6 points

Delusional take. We played them on Kings Birthday with a third if their team out and they still killed us. It's about mindset, they have the right attitude we fall to water when it counts. Yeah we can beat up on a soulless Suns team but can we apply the same pressure/aggression against a Pies team with their rabid supporters screaming from the stands? Some of the efforts to ight were deplorable, many of them when the game was still alive early. They were not the only culprits but Bowey and Fritsch were two notable ones who just [censored] themselves at the thought of contact. It's actually embarassing the way we continue to have our pants pulled down by this mob. We've beaten them twice since 2017 and one of those games was at the Gabba. What does it take for us to say "no more" we will not let this mob roll over us anymore!? It has nothing to do with gameplan, footskills, turnovers etc and has everything to do with mindset and aggression at the opposition and the contest.5 points
