  1. While we're on politics. No, I will take that back...no point in engaging on politics here.

  2. The standards have been appalling since we lost Ben Gibson. The current crop running the show never inspired me from the start when they turned up to pre-season training with a camera, but spent the whole session on their social media on their phones instead of watching what was going on in front of them. It never got better than that, as all we got for the whole season was happy snaps with no commentary, observations or interesting snippets ( you come to Demonland to find out how that is done). The interviews have been similar. Cringeworthy questioning, or just plain boring..."tell us what it is like to be drafted?...." A month after James Harmes, Jordan and Grundy were traded, they still feature on our home page. Next years fixture....not there yet....it's is just sloppy laziness. Bring back Ben, his talents are wasted at Essendon.

  3. Fair point. There's a little bit of all of us in Werribee.

  4. He may have been wrong, but MFC Boards before and after him, got plenty wrong and I was on one of them, which against my vote and argument, sold our admin building in Jolimont Terrace, which today would be worth many millions of dollars. Ross Mitchell, a Real Estate agent and brother of 3AW Neil Mitchell and I were totally opposed to the sale, but were outvoted. A shocking mistake imo.

  5. McQualter recruited as an experienced assistant coach known for a dynamic, unpredictable attacking set up which makes the most of medium-sized players. McAdam, Billings, Windsor and Tholstrup added to the list. The 'less talk, show me the change' part of me is pleased.

  6. Looking forward to seeing if Jefferson has managed to put on a few kegs in the off season. I was looking for some YouTube footage of our new recruits when I stumbled across the 2022 game of Vic Metro vs WA when he kicked 7!! Don’t think anybody managed to kick a bag that big in this years champs. I remember an interview he gave this year where he mentioned he’s already put on 6/7kg. If he managed to put on the same again he will be an interesting watch this preseason.

  7. I’ve been really disappointed with our club’s media program for a long time now - I don’t know if it’s under resourced or we just don’t have the right people in our media team, but our content really lags behind some of the other clubs and is frankly pretty boring at times GWS is currently setting the standard for what clubs socials can look like - they have in-depth coverage of their draft night, heaps of interaction with their players and content that’s entertaining and with the times I reckon we could learn a lot from them

  8. Can't believe the negative nonsense written about Marty Hore by posters. He is a very handy signing. He has good skills & can fill in wing, or in defence & only injury prevented him becoming a permanent player last time round. He'll also be an ideal player at Casey.

  10. The press swooped in like a vulture With questions about club culture But we only had ourselves to blame For not achieving premiership fame A simple trick would have altered the team's fate 'Tis not a secret - just kick straight

  11. With $27m in the bank, from the sale of assets he pushed his Board to acquire and after stopping a merger and tipping in $2.7m of his own, the biggest single donation to the club ever. Show a bit of gratitude.

  15. Thanks for your support of Benny Gibson we have gone backwards since Benny left, he even spiced up the Gus & Gawny podcast each week. Maybe we should start a - Bring back Benny Gibson Thread and get Kate Roffe involved, we are missing out on a lot of content and once missed it is gone forever. I also loved those segments behind the scenes on draft night, etc thanks Demoncat and George_on_the_outer.

  16. One of the hardest things to do for many people is to apologise. We all know people who are never wrong and will never admit to it, no matter what the proof. There are people who just can’t get the word “sorry” to come out of their mouth. It’s funny really, as I scream out “sorry” every time I come home, to cover me for whatever comes next.

  17. Wayne - if you could refrain from interrupting my tantrum, that would be appreciated. Any entry onto Gosch's cannot be considered anything other than an official turf war, however brief. We are, after all, talking about the Filth. Thank you, I rest my case

  19. Had a beer last night at Bad Shepherd with the same fella. We chatted the draft amongst other things and I asked him if he was surprised that we got Brown via the Rookie Draft. He reckons Brown dropped later in the year due to some disposal issues and limited scope for improvement. Under pressure missed some targets by foot and his contested work is scrappy, not clean and momentum building. Also wondered about his ability to get bigger. In saying that, he did say his club didn’t put a lot of effort into Brown as they try to avoid non WA players at the later stages of the draft. On a positive note, he also said if Goody told Brown to run through a brick wall he would and is very coachable. He thought we had a pretty good draft as Windsor and Tholstrup are good enough to play round 1 next year.

  21. Seems like a pretty successful draft week for MFC. KB could do with a visit to the barber but so could a few others. Pity Mitch Brown retired we could of had 3 Browns up forward. BT would dead set have refused to commentate our games.

  22. thanks for confirmation / rebuttal not really - the filth has nearly as many aligned members in the mcc as mfc these days (well, at least according to a journo whose industry knowledge i trust)

  23. That's a fair reading of it. It has been unclear to me how much would be put into this Future Fund. As you know, money is fungible. Seems the final decision is not to top up the Future Fund (bentleigh Club proceeds) with surplus cash, but to "allocate" $7.7 million to the new Home Base. So $23.7 million it is for the FF.

  24. From reading the fin reports of previous years the proceeds of the sale of leighoak went to cover an immediate cash deficit, to reduce existing debt, and with the remainder going into an Clubs Investment Fund. This investment fund had to be liquidated to get us through Covid.

  27. The AFL will want him to serve the 3 months rather than 1, plus a club games ban, to avoid the confusion around WADA v AFL issued suspensions for the likes of Elijah Hollands. As always managing the optics will take priority over getting a fair result for the individual. And of course the AFLPA will keep their heads in the sand as per usual. I hope Joel can be back at the club as soon as possible but I’m also fine with him getting a good club imposed ban when the time for it comes.

  28. You be loving it if you were Gold Coast, trade out all your early picks and still get 3 first round picks. I'd be abusing it as much as I could as long as it lasts

  30. He is no wingman and would be behind Ed and Hunter, Woey, Howes, Billings, Chandler, Spargo, Gus, Bowey, Rivers, Laurie, McVee and possibly even Windsor at least, to be tried there. He certainly could play anywhere in the back half though, if needed.

  33. I agree, don't understand why people think he should be the last choice if his form warrants it he should play in the seniors but it will be hard for him because teams usually promote youngsters ahead of older players.

  35. Nope, Toorak and Malvern are the federal seat of Higgins and for the first time in its history the seat went to Labour in the 2022 election. There's been a growing push against the Liberals for the past 6 or so years in Higgins which came to fruition. The electorates next door, like Kooyong, voted Teal. Macnamara (which covers Caulfield) is also a Labour seat.

  37. I expect -and hope - it will be Goodwin's. He is the senior coach. I expect him to listen to advice but then make the decisions. If it were any other way, the tail would be wagging the dog.

  38. I cant believe that people have the F%^ing gall to pot Gutnick. He saved us and then instead of any show of being gratefull we had to endure people screaming that he owed $300k and begging us to vote for Gabriel Szondy. Printing out proxys and waving them at the Camberwell city centre meeting. Then to top that off, same loudmouths biching about how Zsondy just phoned it in as president. Can you tell it still gets my goat? I wonder if any of them are around ATM to say Mea Culpa.

  42. At 181cm he is a genuine Collingwood 6’fter, more a Langdon / Hunter size just needs some extra Kg’s on that slight frame of his. He has a ton of courage and good pace so should fit in well at the Dee’s.!!

  44. I'm pretty sure @old55 was attempting to apply some levity to the situation. Some gallows humour so to speak (apt given we're chokers now). Nothing wrong with that. I'd have a stab at a second verse myself only I'm not a creative type.

  45. It might be good news but Goodwin has to listen to what they say. It was reported here that Yze was heard at a function saying he wanted to attack through the corridor more and was held back by Goodwin.
