My grandmother passed away this morning so I’ll be a wreck win or lose tonight. Her favorite player was Kozzie Pickett, or as she called him ‘Aaron Davey’. Hoping he kicks a bag tonight for her!37 points

This one means more. The old enemy, an arch nemesis. A rivalry so historical that Ken Mitchell wrote a book about it here. We must win tonight, the chips have been moved fairly and squarely to the middle of the table and we are all in. There are a range of least favourite teams here on Demonland but for as long as I can remember there is something that has set this mob apart from the rest and by the length of the Hume Highway. My father is a Collingwood fan. I bucked this trend simply because my best friend at Kindergarten was a Melbourne fan so that sealed my fate. The first time he took me to a Melb v Collingwood game I learned very quickly what this experience was going to be for the rest of my footy going life, walking up Clarendon St seeing 5 Collingwood fans to every 2 Melbourne fans was a clear message that you were in the minority and that you would need to be very strong taking this life path (mentally and physically). The pulse never gets racing for me in any game quite like this one. I’ve seen it all, scuffles between fans, filthy and vile language in the outer etc. One year for QB when they were smashing us and some Melb fans were leaving I saw a Pies fan say to one of them “Off you go Melbourne” and hock a big loogie onto his pants. Make no mistake I’ve never seen quite as much gutter behaviour from opposition fans as much as them and that includes Richmond and there’s no other game where I feel I have to have my wits about myself around their fans. There were great times too. Farmer’s Cloud 9 day, Wattsy’s winner, doing the double on them in Roosey’s last season. The lows are low but the highs are as sweet as it gets. From about Round 20 it looked like this would be the game and even from then I felt there would be no game that would shape the finals series like this one. Still waiting for the citation from Joey Montagna on that one 😝 but it doesn’t take a genius to know that these are two of the best teams and would make a great Grand Final. If the finals are a chess game then the winner of tonight takes the queen. Of course no-one has a devine right to win anything and from the other side of the fence the Pies want to avenge that 1 point loss in Sydney last year. We need to want it more and that’s what I want to see tonight. We get bogged down in tactics but tactics can sometimes go out the window in finals. Allan Jeans said that as far as strategy and tactics go in finals in always comes down to winning the footy, executing correctly under pressure and when you haven’t got the ball, working extra hard to put that pressure on. Lastly to add to all that, we must have the desire. As I said before these Pies players will want it bad after last year, we need to match or beat their desire. What will it mean to win and give ourselves the best chance this year? What would a potential grand final on the G mean and most importantly, what would it mean for these guys’ legacy? You’re in rare territory of having the chance to repeat a major achievement, most people never get the chance for 1. At this point I don’t really care what side has been selected, as long as every one of these 22 +1 players gives 110%. Let’s revise the book on this rivalry and pump it up with some air again. Let’s also remind everyone that we are the ones that beat them when it counts. It’s in our blood. Come on Dees, go out there and give em hell!18 points

Give me a f..kin spell you Goodwin haters. They lost it with to many missed opportunities. The coach can’t kick it for them FFS17 points

Two things: - We went with the 2 tall backline which hasn't worked this year. - We went with the stagnant, crowded forward line with long balls which hasn't worked this year. We reverted to these two things at the worst possible time.17 points

Dees by 18. It'll be a grind throughout the game. Don't be surprised if it's a low scoring affair right up until 3 quarter time, pretty much level pegging, for us to then pull away with our running power and superior fitness levels. Win this, and a grand final birth awaits us. Jack Viney BOG for me. The stage is built for him.17 points

Bad kicking is bad football. For all the hoohaa about Chocco teaching us to kick, we've just coughed up a massive chance to host a Prelim.16 points

Maynard took out an unprotected player with malice. A smothering act involves the hands and arms attacking the actual football. To do that to a player kicking the footy takes high risk courage and that's why we rarely see it happen All we saw was Maynard doing everything but use his hands and arms to smother the football. You can't just charge into a player like that as it's unduly rough play He should get at least 4 or 5 weeks but knowing the MRO, he might even get off What he did can't be justified as he didn't go low to smother ... in fact, what he did was go high (nowhere near the footy) and therefore cleaned up Brayshaw at head height11 points

If you look at the rules, he has to go. High impact and careless, and he left the ground to make contact. Players have a duty of care. He has to go. On top of this, Gus' father in law took his own life with CTE (from acquired brain injury in sport), Gus may never player again and the AFL is currently engaged in a law suit with a group of ex players who have suffered similar repeated concussions. We've just had another player retire as a result of this in McCartin. Having said all this, the AFL couldn't give a stuff about anything but revenue. Maynard will get off when he absolutely shouldn't.10 points

The love for Maynard on this site make me puke. He jumped off the ground. Brayshaw had no serious forward momentum and was wide open. Maynard could easily have used his hands to block but turned his shoulder and smashed him in the head. It was at worst intentional at best careless. He then get a chance to plead his case. In the meantime we lose a key player possibly costing us the game. Spare me the bs it a footy incident.10 points

Fourth rate forward line. Salem is very soft. Max, Trac and Bowza were good. Jordon should have been the sub. I despise that septic tank Cox.10 points

I felt sick after Gus went down, incredibly tough for the players to come back from that. Could be career ending. 5 mins longer and we likely win that. Incredibly frustrating game and there’s some hard questions to be asked of a number of players. Also, Cox is the biggest piece of [censored] going round, the dive into Trac’s legs and then holding it while he twists is so incredibly dangerous10 points

Without a doubt. The next biggest for me was the last round in 87 at Whitten Oval. [censored] that was a big day.10 points

Here in Somalia it’s midnight, game starts bang smack in the middle of the day, presenting a conundrum as have been trying to lead by example here, and the boss getting on the beers at lunch is not a good look. Fortunately DSTV (ZA cable channel) is showing the game live so I might have a stomach ailment and move to the guest house for a conference call.10 points

Effectively killed our season in that first quarter. We knew that’s what they’d bring, more than anything else about the game. Match them, and it was ours to lose. Let them get a more than 3 goal jump, and it would be too much. That we failed to stop them is enormously disappointing and frustrating. But we just weren’t up to it. Hope it’s not a wasted chance at a flag, but it’s sure looking that way. And to any of you saying Collingwood don’t deserve to be where they are now, wake up! It’s a four quarter game.9 points
