  1. The targeting of Max Gawn's back/head is never going to stop until the club goes to the AFL with video evidence and demands a response from the league and the umpires. When Gawn starts getting soft frees every time someone touches him, then clubs will stop targeting him illegally. But while they can get away with it, they'll keep doing it because he is such a brilliant and important player.

  2. Not a lot so far; probably because the game isn't until Monday. From Various fan websites: Druggos showing how to beat Melbourne is to tag Oliver…Nothing surer than Oliver running around by himself collecting 40 next week Just what we need, an angry, fired up Melbourne on the rebound... I'd like to think that we will also be angry and fired up after last night's insipid effort. We will tag ben Brown and he'll kick 7 Don't worry Dees supporters. We'll play you into form next round. Oliver had 41 lol… Hahaha I saw that, couldn’t believe it. Must’ve been 41 of the most useless posies eve All rubbish. Threw it about 5 times too not called Got to realize we are in a sneaky rebuild mode whilst bluffing our way to this year's Finals... See which side Max is going and tell Miller to b-line it to the other side, no way Max keeps up with Miller. Can't let him sit behind play, have to play him smart or physical. I don't wanna see at half time they're 40 points up and Prestia, Hopper and Taranto have been smashed in clearances, whilst Oliver and Petracca have already racked up 25 possies and 5 clearances each. Put some body work on them and make them bloody earn their kicks. Our backline is miles away from our best lineup but realistically their fwd's are pus. Young/ Van Rooyen is a good matchup. Grimes/ Fritch should work. I’d take a Ben Brown right now as much as I hate saying that whatever Dimma comes up with will need to be a master stroke. We’ve never matched up well on the cheese platters in recent times. In: Effort Out: Turnovers Our biggest issue is if Fists of Fury Lever plays. With no Lynch and our bombs inside 50, Lever will think he is at a Las Vegas buffet racking up intercept marks. I will refrain on commenting on Richmond’s odds of winning this game until the umpires are named Demons supporters don’t go to any games do they? The corrupt AFL are yet to relocate the MCG, slab by slab, to Mt Buller. So no. Honestly don’t understand why more Melbourne fans don’t follow suit of Max Gawn their captain and be Richmond supporters Dees to play a bunch of players out of position. For instance Jake Melksham on the field. Haha yeah I was happy with it. He'll prob have 5 touches and kick 3 goals now. We were rubbish even before nankervis, lynch, Broad and Graham got injured. Not Favourite This made me laugh for its ignorance of Dimmer being a thug: No probs with playing on the edge but Dimma never condoned poor discipline This made me angry: tell Miller to sit in behind Max all game and jump into his back as often as he can.

  4. Welp. I’m about to dive headlong into the fray. A door and a flight of stairs is all that separates me from the arch nemesis aka the Richmond cheer squad. Wish me luck fellow Demonlanders. On a wing and a prayer! Cut to me in half an hour laughing and chatting and FB friending these people. JK. I never said that.

  5. I've been big on this for a while AJ. Seen so many talented bush league footballers running around who have either slipped through the under 18's system and been lost to the wilderness or clubs are more reluctant to give basketball athletes who have played 5 minutes of footy in their life more opportunities and better pathways. This is why I have a incredibly soft spot for someone like Ollie Seston. Plays GV football and a few school games after being cut from the elite junior pathway and it takes someone like Jason Taylor to give him a crack knowing that he may have been too good to pass up had he slipped through. Has now started his career off well at VFL and so far looks a talent and just an all round natural footballer. A lot of water to go under the bridge still but has the tricks that to potentially play AFL if not later this year but next.

  7. "Oliver threw it 5 times not called" Even if he does get a few flicks each game it's negated by the 5 holds on him that don't get called.

  8. You know it’s a long break between matches when the pre-game thread drops off the front page of DL. Everyone gets stir-crazy and threads about Goody cuddling and smiling pop up. 😁 And it’s the No T$ thread’s time to shine. I don’t have to wait until Monday to see Fritsch playing. I’ll be watching Fritsch play this Saturday. DARCY Fritsch, that is. I’ll be barracking for Coldstream (of course) and because Coldstream’s colours are navy and white I just need to fossick through my wardrobe to find some mothballed relics from my days of masquerading as a Blues supporter and I’ll fit right in. Big bro Bayles will also be there but I’m guessing he won’t be nearly as loud as me. I’m also guessing he’ll pretend he doesn’t know me, and who could blame him, right? I’d pretend I don’t know me, too. 😁

  9. Fair to say coming into this season it was expected the Taps Bros to share the load... Grundy resting fwd... Max...well.. Max just cruising everywhere picking off grabs when not rucking. It wasn't expected for Grundy to carry the load nor that extra sweeper in defence to not be there. And thats where we are . Our PLAN B got dusted off far earlier than ever possibly anticipated. Remove Lever and thats a serious hole in the wall. May's not superhuman. He can get flustered on days he has to try reinventing his back half forces only to realise its really just him ( if support staff are underachieving or similarly overwhelmed) I really liked Tomlinson before his injury. Never quite seemed as good since. Needs to back himself more....in same way Lever does. Hes playing a more reactionary game atm.... no flair...little anticipation....to me. We quite a clever outfit when humming... but if a few threads come unstuck.....so do we....majorly.

  10. OOC in 2024 and apparently a few clubs interested in him. I hope we are one of them - really agile, great leap, excellent set of hands and a decent kick. Every game I've seen him play been impressed by what he brings.

  12. I know, Luci. I was just making a point. Once again, thanks for trawling through the muck to bring us this. 💕 I’ll be fraternising with about 20 Toiges tonight. Because it’s a shared banner, they’re coming to ours to join in the making of it. I’m wondering if any of them made any of the comments you’ve listed. Maybe I’ll climb to the top of the giant ladder and yell out, “I sure hope FISTS OF FURY LEVER is playing this Monday!” Then I’ll look for someone flinching. 😄

  13. Was in attendance with my kids. The players were so patient as they walked the boundary signing jumpers, footballs, mini figures, body parts (few heads and hands signed) and posing for photographs. A special mention to Fritsch who was second last to leave the field (about 20 minutes after all other players) and big Max who was out for about a further 30 minutes after Fritsch was done. He did it all with such enthusiasm and greeted every kid in a genuine way. He is a special guy and I can see why he is loved by so many. An excellent event to keep the next generation of members enthused and hopefully committed!

  15. For what it is worth. A youngster at training yesterday asked Richo in front of 200 fans and over the P.A about Kozzie and where would he play. Richo paused and as luck would have it the question coincided with Kozzie entering the ground and he clearly heard the question. He gave Richo and the kid a thumbs up which Richo acknowledged. Theatre or a portent of what he has decided, I don't know but Richo was quick to point out that Kozzie had acknowledged. Richo replied that Kozzie is a much loved player loved by one and all at the club and that Kozzie loves the club.

  16. For any Dlanders who haven't gotten to this game before....to quote Molly, do yourself a favour and get there. It's a great atmosphere and hopefully the team also redeems itself. Will make an effort next year.

  17. We’re all a bit nervous about Gawn playing. We watched him die and go to heaven against Brisbane and now he’s threatening to play again! It’s simply too much for us

  21. I still think May was injured through the whole game last week. He looked stiff and proppy. And played that way too. He looked to me like he had a crook back, and if so we can only hope that it was a minor strain and not something serious. But more generally, I think Goodwin was right in saying that it just wasn’t us playing last week. I have no doubt we will be much much much better this week, and hopefully for the rest of the season.

  22. Rest easy DD. It is just about done. They’re just sorting a couple of points with the Dees. There is no other Club as a spoiler, just working through some small operational t’s & c’s with the Club.

  23. Melbourne want to keep him and would sign him up tomorrow if they could but JJ (understandably) is holding off talks while his position in the team is still not certain. He doesn’t want to keep playing at Casey or as the sun and knows if he went elsewhere he’d get games week in week out. He has plenty of interest. He doesn’t want to leave, but he wants to play footy. Kade Chandler is in the same position. Plenty of interest, and just holding off to know his place in the team won’t get knocked off once all our big names return. The club want them both to stay. But they also wanted Bedford to stay last year by offering him a 3 year contract. Interesting position to be in.

  25. Breaking news! More vision of 'Fists of Fury' Lever has just been released. Watch out Tiger forwards!

  26. I missed the good old Tigers supporters. You know, the ones who use to drag themselves out of the gutter on Swan st, brushing the needles out of their arms and shuffling off to the G on a Saturday arvo.

  27. Well I'm not entirely sure about our forwards being "pus". I mean, we are the highest scoring side in the league...

  30. Back in the day...... when dogs would target your team mate you simply waited for the next opportunity to run through the maggot ( oppo player and not the white varietal lol ). As you lent down to offer him assistance up... you'd whisper sweetly for his edification ;) .. " next time you're not getting up " Sort of miss those days... Umpiring is useless. They must see it...do nothing. And then wonder about the lack of respect given. I don't. 2 way street... Earn the respect of the players... not demand it... that's the weak way. This day and age.. it does need to be brought to the attention of those that oversee. The Club has a duty of care... Also...just needs to get angrier towards the inept custodianship of the game. Time to remind the league ....it's OUR game you're messing with. Don't trash it.

  31. My father was a glazier and as a young kid I suggested going around smashing shop windows and leaving his business card. Dad said that it might not be a very good idea. My first idea at promoting business.

  32. I spoke to Jake Lever today at the kid's clinic. He was 100% adamant that he was playing Monday night. In his words, "I'm definitely playing Monday night. Unless I hurt myself at training between now and then". I also had a chat to big Maxy Gawn. He said that he was playing too. That was if they picked him, of course.

  38. I’d like us to better manage the squad when it comes to games with short turn arounds but I think it’s fair to play Gawn in the game he’s first available for even if he’s in doubt for the second. If he’s healthy they can potentially manage his loads through the matches too with Grundy doing a larger share of ruck work.

  40. Still have PTSD when he gave Petty a bath last year and kicked 4. Everytime I have watched him play he seems to play well. He did come dead last in their time trial over thr off season but his talent and scope for improvement is high. I'm a fan.

  41. Great question. If he is a surfer, he will be keen to talk about surfing. Which might help him relax if he is nervous (which is likley given his age) Another q might be who is the best surfer at the club

  43. I travelled out to Casey Fields today with my daughter and two grand kids for the MFC kids Clinic. My first trip out there 1.5 hrs each way But very impressed with the facilities the organisation of the clinic, player and staff involvement and the large number of kids and parents in attendance. The kids got to mix with the players and have a lot of fun with like minded kids of their own age as children were split up into similar age groups. When the clinic concluded we were lined up along the fence line with the kids and all players involved came along from both ends and signed their autographs and posed for photos, etc, which took a long time. clinic started at two and it finished at 4:30, I felt very proud of our player group for giving up so much time for their fans. The sun shone for us and my two left feeling very happy with themselves. My only complaint was that there were no famous bacon and egg rolls, so had a hot dog and coffee instead. Well done MFC.!!!!

  44. Hopefully we at least get Lever back this week. I've been thinking about the loss and about how poor we were, by our standards, behind the ball. Our intercept game was off and Essendon scored far too easily going inside their forward 50. I started wondering: when was the last time we played a game without both Gawn and Lever? The answer? Round 16, 2019. 3.5 years since we've played a game without at least one of our two elite intercept marks in the side. I doubt it's a coincidence that we looked so poor defensively as a result.
