  1. MFC have ruled out trading Weideman. Another rubbish story made by Tradio Radio! They should stop throwing names around without any back up. It is getting more and more embarrassing for them.

  2. I personally believe that in some way, shape or form the dogs first will be going back to Freo with Lobb landing there and the final deal will be something like Pick 8 and 11 for Luke Jackson

  3. I have heard Essendon have some interest in Tommlinson, and with that in mind i'd be having a look at Aaron Francis. we rated him highly in his draft year. I think the reason i'd go for this is we'd clear Tommo's cap space which is significant, sign Francis for a much much smaller deal, and retain the key back depth while also getting a player who has talent, upside and may well benefit from a change of scenery.

  4. Can we PLEASE stop comparing De Goey to May? FFS having a drunken fight with a teammate is on a completely different level to SEXUAL ASSAULT. How anyone can put our AA defender in the same 'bad boy/ cultural cancer' bucket as a guy who has displayed actual criminal behaviour is beyond me and is frankly disrespectful to May. And to those suggesting we chase him, what for? He doesn't fill any gaps we have, and would eat up significant money and resources. No thanks.

  5. What i've heard about the way we intent to implement Gawn/Grundy makes the prospect mouth watering, it's no surprise at all to me we're as keen as we are. it's got the potential to give us a significant advantage and prolong Gawns career in terms of the trade, i reckon pick 32, and a swap of our future second for their future third as an upgrade is fair and gets the job done. you can't be giving up a first rounder for a guy they're paying 1.5 million at least to get out the door, it's a cap dump.

  8. You don’t know that we didn’t try. He said he only wanted to go to Brisbane, or stay at Hawthorn. Not much we can do about that. Just because we missed out on one player also doesn’t mean we are putting all our eggs in one basket. Quit throwing the toys out of the cot. Long way to go - in fact trade week hasn’t even started yet.

  10. Here's the thing Prodee. We aint in a court of law. We're posting on a footy forum. The weight of evidence required to convict someone in court vs inform a personal opinion are very different things, surely you realise that. The reaction from Demonland has pretty much universally been along the lines of: "Jeez they are some very serious allegations coming from a growing number of sources that would be oddly specific to make up. On the balance of probability these accusations likely carry weight. If this is shown to be the case, there will be very serious consequences for the perpetrators." A neighbour of mine was arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife. There was a bucket load of circumstantial evidence that he was guilty, but ultimately not enough proof to secure a conviction. Would I have found him guilty if I was on the jury? No. Am I glad the justice system places the burden of proof on the accuser rather than the accused? Yes. Do I personally consider it far more likely than not that he is guilty? Also yes.

  11. Exactly right. The HFC initiated this investigation. The players did not seek this out, the HFC contacted them to ask them for their statements. What incentive do they have to fabricate this story? And not just one past player but at least 3 and their partners, and if it is to be believed at least one former assistant and a player manager who can corroborate at least part of their stories? They did not seek the HFC or media out, the HFC asked them for their accounts of their time at the HFC. They have provided statements which should be enough for the AFL's investigation to work off. The investigators may go back to them to clarify points but I can't see why they would be required to begin the process anew. I'm not labelling Clarkson, Fagan, Burt or HFC guilty at this stage but I am extremely interested in the pending investigation because as things stand it does not look good for the accused. The allegations are quite specific, the multiple accounts appear to corroborate each other and there appears to be a former assistant and former players manager who will at least partly corroborate the allegations Based on what has transpired already I would be stunned if the accused outright denied the allegations, rather I expect they have a different perspective if events which will be interesting in itself.

  12. Layzie going on past scenarios I would be gobsmacked if we haven’t already reviewed his medical status prior to meeting with him, particularly if we are in serious discussions with Pies which would appear to be the case. As the old saying goes we aren’t going to spend $3.5m over 5 years on a “pig in a poke”. So to speak.

  13. I watched West Coast play this season. I don't need him to name and shame. My eyes very clearly showed me a bunch of overweight and unfit players. Nic Nat top of that list.

  14. I know you never want to argue with someone on the merits of what they are saying and prefer to build a easily defeated straw man so I don’t expect anything better than the above… But just for the record, I don’t assume guilt and those accused will get their right to ‘natural justice’ but I am past the point of where society has been where we attack the marginalised that have been brave enough to report the assault on THEIR justice. But it’s great to see you back from BigFooty, there’s only so much enjoyment you can get from agreeing with 14 year old Tigers supporters hey?

  15. Jackson worth higher then Naughton? Sheesh.. I would say Naughton is every bit worth more then Jackson who realistically hasn't achieved the same on field output what Naughton has. Naughton Kicked 47.40 as a 21 year old playing as their main full forward in a grand final year. This year alone as a 22 year old Naughton kicked 51 goals whereas Jackson was poor. His natural trajectory as a key forward is certainly sky rocketing towards being a 60-70 goal a year over the next few years. That alone is worth more then Jackson The big talented key forwards is what teams will pay more their worth over a ruckman. Guys like Naughton, Ben King, Max King and Harry McKay are gold nuggets that teams would happily cough up for a couple of first rounders as a starting point.

  18. I'm not sure where the list management is going if they trade Weid. I've never been a fan of him, but he definitely showed enough improvement as a ruckman at Casey to be required as ruck depth. Without Jackson and Weid, we'd need to bring in 3 ruckmen onto our list. Grundy is obviously one, plus a mature ager at Casey, and the other a rookie. I perish the thought that we'd use JVR as a 2nd ruck should Max or Grundy get injured. T Mac and BBB are physically unable to play the 2nd ruck role.

  20. Late to the party but isn’t Gunston a very similar player to Fritsch? He’s a very good player but I wouldn’t think a Gunston type is at the top of our needs list.

  21. I really hope the Collingwood supporters look at this as letting go of Grundy for De Goey. Then Brodie can become a multiple premiership player at Melbourne, and Jordy will do something dumb in February and waste their cash.

  22. Weideman had a good game in the 2018 finals BBB kicked 3 in last year's final so he's got about another 4 years to equal the time they have given Weideman to repeat the dose

  23. Not necessarily. A ruthless approach to list management would be to trade out a couple from our starting 22. Don't blame them if there is little chance of getting into the starting 22. If they can get more chances and better deals elsewhere good on them.

  24. Brenton Sanderson seems a loose canon. His latest conjuring trick: "... believes a player like Cam Rayner, the 2017 number one draft pick, could get caught up in all the trade chaos – given Brisbane need draft points to match a potential rival bid for Ashcroft". I didn't hear the trade radio session but going on the media report, he had no basis whatsoever, not even an 'I've heard ..." or "hypothetically' but throws a kids name out there. I get the need for click bait and something to talk about this week but imv it is unfair on the player and family to indulge in such fabrications.

  25. I'm more than happy for two first rounders with one being a future first. What I'm not going to be ok with is if we just hand over one of those first rounders for Grundy just like that.

  27. This game would usually be a cracker as Fremantle have been a top side for so many years but this year has been different. Fremantle have only won 1 game and a draw. Melbourne on the other hand have won 4 games. With Harris dominating the forward line and Hanks, Purcell and West dominating the midfield I'm expecting the Dees to dominate and win by 20 points. I think there will be no changes after that dominant display at Ikon Park. Possible team B: Birch, Gillard HB: Goldrick, Lampard, Gay C: Mithen, Purcell, Paxman HF: Hore, Zanker, Bannan F: D.Pearce, Harris FOLL: L.Pearce, West, Hanks IC: Duffy, Sherriff, Mackin, Heath, Fitzsimon

  28. I’m hoping it’s something like: - Freo: 13 & one of North’s very early 2nds they get from the Logue trade for: - Port’s pick 8 then Freo add their future 1st, and that’s the deal. For LJ, we get 8, and a future 1st, in a good draft

  29. It really comes down to an issue of control/power. What do I see as the best course for player x that will see the best outcome for the Club and I (the person in control/power)? Then dress that behavior up as "this will be great/good for player x and then talk in we language. "We had the best intentions to help player x achieve success". You don't need to go very far to see similar behaviors in the likes of the Military, Police and other organizations. They will try and spin this but this is master vs slave stuff. Although this is now historical and perhaps the perpetrators have changed their ways. This still needs to be called out and reparations need to be made. Regardless of who is held responsible, from what I've read it's clear harm has been done. The first defence is deny, deny, deny. That will only make things worse. At the very least, an acknowledgement of the harm done should be made, even without an admission of guilt. Those being accused at the moment are more interested in trying to make themselves look like victims and that's not going to fly.

  31. Casey’s Premiership Cup… After the siren the MC announced Casey’s Premiership win “… after waiting 23 years” since the last one. I was taking the son of a DA OG onto the field for kick-to-kick. I heard him say (under his breath) “pfft, 23 years? That’s nothing! Try 57!” The kid’s NINE YEARS OLD!!!! 🤣

  33. Weideman should persist and do a pre-season in a ruck role, and if he gets his chance next year rotate with Gawn as ruck-forward. If the tactics or methods next year improves with not bombing it in into 50 and lower their eyes more often and actually hit up leads he could be more than handy. He's a pretty acurate set-shot, more reliable than Gawn anyway 😁

  34. Trump must have been thinking about Trade Radio when he coined the phrase "Fake news" Bulldog's statement is they have no interest in Tomlinson. MFC has stated they expect Bedford to sign on, and that Weid will stay at the club for the last year of his contract. Port say they are not and have never shown interest in Kozzie and expect him to be a Melbourne player for a long time. So-called expert commentators should preface their statements that it is an opinion piece and. not based on any information or evidence.

  36. Hutchison might be unpalatable, but he’s made a mint trading on ex afl players getting paid a livable wage to talk trash. it’s genius and I’m sad I didn’t think of it. Some are on contract and some are being paid to be in there. If you’ve got someone on contract and there is no football to cover, why not make them do work rather than sit around. and we all buy into it because fox footy runs headlines on it, so does the sun and then afl.com.au. It’s a brilliant scam.

  39. A Hawthorn player’s partner claimed that he had been pressured to leave the home they shared, in a desperate email to then-President Andrew Newbold, but her pleas for help were dismissed, according to the club’s explosive racism Review. But Newbold – now an AFL commissioner – says he never saw the emails and definitely had not responded to them, though could not rule out someone else in the club having done so on his behalf. Asked on Tuesday night by the Herald Sun about the alleged exchange, Newbold said: “I did not author that email. “I want to refute that absolutely. It’s not my language I would use.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The player’s partner went on to tell the then-club president in another email that she was experiencing “severe anxiety attacks”, “vomiting blood” and “can’t see the light anymore”, amid her stress over the situation. An email identified in the report as being from Newbold responded that it was “not appropriate” that he become involved. “I have spoken to Jason who is familiar with the facts as I am not,” the report detailed Newbold as writing on Monday, March 25, 2013. “Your issues are really beyond my scope of expertise and influence. I’m sorry but it is not really appropriate that I become involved.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------- In additional comments made to the Herald Sun on Tuesday night, Newbold said: “Those emails as I understand it went to my hawthornfc address, which I had no access to. “I haven’t seen them, I don’t know who they are from. I haven’t seen the report, which is appropriate. “I’m told there is an email around 23 May, I have checked personal email box and I have no emails form any complaints on 23 May 2013.’’ Told it was in March, he said: “Whatever, I’ve checked. I did not write that email.

  46. And are we to infer the testimony of the players and their families are not sufficient evidence? Whose testimony will be sufficient? Or do these alleged heinous acts need to be recorded, or written down? There will be two versions of the “truth” that will never get near each other…and god I hope we can get near a clear awareness of what happened but I just don’t see how it could… Absolute mess. And whatever you think about these allegations, for that club to let this get this far with so many former players is a [censored] indictment on that club and those involved - even if the specific heinous acts can be explained away.
