The boy's are training now (captain's run), Trac moving freely and looking good I've been told.25 points

I was at the Captain's Run this morning. Not only did Trac train, he looked completely unimpeded, ran at full pace and looked sharp. He did every drill and there was no sign of any limp. From what I saw in the first 30 minutes there is no way in the world he is not playing.21 points

Another win today in round 5 sees Moe undefeated and atop the league ladder with over 200% points Dec killed it again today, was named 3rd best on but won the Cam Bars favourite player and a slab (he doesn’t drink so I’m sure the old man will be happy)13 points

Listening to the game with no vision reminded me of my childhood listening to Demon games on the radio back in the 70's when i was a kid. I know people still listen to games on the radio but it'd been a while for me. I enjoyed it. Meanwhile, we seem to have a few players who are able to fit straight in should injuries/form demand it. I'm thinking Mitch Brown, Jetta, Daw, Sparrow and more. It's shaping up as a great year ladies and gentlemen!10 points

Nothing to fear from Carlton's changes: Out: Jack Newnes, Michael Gibbons, Jack Silvagni In: Marc Murphy, Will Setterfield, Nic Newman. Cripps will probably put in a blinder as he did a few weeks back when the media put the blowtorch on him. Harmes to take care of him. May will take care of McKay, if the ball even gets down there. A dark horse is their ruckman, Pittonet. Last year he really lifted and was the reason they got back into the game and nearly won. Max needs to be on the ball and dominate. Hibberd to keep Eddie quiet. There will be a day when we lose but I don't think it will be tomorrow.7 points

I like it a lot. Chandler gets his chance as a small pressure forward. Needed IMO with the inclusion of Weid in our forward half.7 points
-
I like it. Added some speed and tackling pressure to balance out the additional tall. Melks can't really have any complaints. He's been serviceable but nothing more.7 points

Wow, Melky out, playing a role but not quite enough impact, though I thought he was improving over the weeks. Could be the med sub. Great for Chandler to get a chance, would like to see him hit the scoreboard early and get the confidence going. Jackson out will cause a disruption, hope we can adjust. I assume Gawn will take the majority of the game on the ball. C'mon Dees get the clearances, hold our marks, have crumbers and kick goals with greater accuracy. Go Dees!6 points

Very frustrating that there isn’t a live stream provided. We all saw in the Richmond vs Casey game how effective one camera following the play with no commentary can be, and it surely isn’t that difficult to set up and execute it. The firsts aren’t playing today so, all the focus easily should be on Casey (besides teams being announced for tomorrow). Sometimes I feel Ben Gibson and the melb media team are truly clueless as to what the supporters really want from them. So much vested interested in watching Casey play, that should be a priority whenever possible at home games.6 points

One of my huge bugbears in umpiring is when a player who has the ball gets incorrectly tackled or buried under a pile gets pinged for holding the ball. IMO the prime umping duty of care should be to encourage the player to get the ball, and protect him, and ONLY if correctly tackled AND doesn't correctly dispose should he be penalised. All too often we see one ridden into the ground under 3 or 4 players and unable to get rid of it - HTB!!! Even though he has been the subject of "in the back" and often "high tackle / around the neck"! This only encourages the vultures of the game, and discourages the brave ball getter.5 points

Have you & Dr D been smoking crack together? Rosman has been solid at Casey & done a couple of brilliant things but is a mile from a senior call up.5 points

I don't know him personally, but a shout out to Channel 7's Chief Football Reporter, Mark Stevens, who has just had surgery for bowel cancer. https://www.epworth.org.au/newsroom/tv-journalist-undergoes-cancer-surgery And just a reminder for everyone else, particularly those over 50, to get checked regularly.5 points

Not for me unfortunately. What I'm seeing on the field is pleasing and different to many of the false dawns I've witnessed in the past. However my MFCSS is so ingrained that I keep expecting the wheels to fall off at every turn. Only a premiership will alleviate the negativity that I have in my head and my heart and even then it will only be a band aid until the next season. Perhaps a three-peat will help ...5 points

I heard that interview and it was a disgrace. This man is (was) the director of umpiring and his complacency towards the rules he is supposed to be enforcing is shameful. The inmates are running the asylum. So two or three highly paid lawyers are allowed to hijack the future of the game because it would somehow be disastrous if they gave up their part time umpiring gig. They would be "lost to the game". Well how about this? Maybe with professional umpires, more would aspire to it, and the game might "find" some decent umpires who were motivated by it being their breadwinning vocation. And juniors might stick with it, suspecting they might get "job security", "tenure", "support from city hall" and a few other quaint concepts that haven't occurred to the literal amateurs currently running the show. With the state of umpiring as it is, would the loss of these so-called "top" umpires be any real loss? Some "bad" free kicks might be paid? Would anyone even notice? Kennedy was asked about that very strange decision where a guy had a kick at goal, it went off the side of his boot, and he was pinged for deliberate. Is there any better indication that the umpires have lost their way and have no confidence in what they are doing? A situation that can be sheeted home directly to ... the director of umpiring. Kennedy said yes, that one actually was wrong, and it was a "communication issue" between the three umpires, which they worked on in training this week. Maybe, just maybe, professional umpires would have the time & the means & the will to work on potential "communication issues" BEFORE they emerge in a match? It's an old cliche in footy that the umpires are blind. In the case of Hayden Kennedy, it might actually be true.4 points

What a pleasant surprise it was to rock up to the ground and flash my membership card and walk in for nothing. None of that tickitek nonsense. Onto the game, it was very messy football. Tackling was good on both sides . Of the demon players I thaught Sparrow and Brown were the best, Daw took some incredible marks in the forward line and it was a more intelligent game by him that I have seen in a while. Jetta did a lot of good things with the ball although he did not get a lot of it. Lockhart was okay as was rosman. In the end it was Brown that carried us over the line but that was only in the second half. Like the senior side they seem to have a knowledge of how to win.4 points

Kennett will probably whinge that they shouldn't play another Tasmanian affiliated team in Tasmania as it takes away their advantage.4 points

Dwayne Russell on SEN yesterday had a long interview with Hayden Kennedy, outgoing umpiring director. It had me climbing the walls with frustration and disgust. The complacency of this guy towards the game he is supposed to be a custodian of really should have him run out of town. If he wasn't already retiring, he should do so now out of shame. I won't bore you with the detail but his attitude towards policing throwing would make you gag. God forbid that one legal handball might be penalised! Oh no, let's let 100 throws go through, instead. Apparently it's better that way. And he had the sheer effrontery to say that enforcement of holding the ball is going well, and also he thinks the fans have a good understanding of what constitutes prior. God help us all. With friends like Kennedy, the AFL competition does not need enemies. But, bottom line, the AFL management do not give a [censored] about any of this.4 points

Trac was on the Gary and Tim show earlier in the week for a 10 min segment. The corky was never mentioned. After the segment finished a few texts alerted Gary to the corky (he hadn't known). Said he asked Trac off air if it was an issue and apparently Trac said it wasn't even worth mentioning. Not an issue at all. Unless there's been a deterioration during the week i can't see why he wouldn't play. Would @Yokozuna have any intel?4 points

Good to see Ratten call out the lack of frees for the dropping and throwing the ball by Geelong. It used to be mainly the Bulldogs but now more teams are taking advantage of the lax enforcement of the rules. Not enforcing the rules may speed up the game which is what the AFL wants but if all clubs start dropping and throwing the ball and go unpenalised then it will be a free for all.4 points

I was just laughing and my partner asked what was so funny. I then described… ’A bunch of people who support the same team are arguing about singing a song associated with another team, in a completely different sport, which then lead to a heated discussion about singing the national anthem, followed by a debate on the etiquette of making public personal messages’. Demonland ? Never a dull moment.4 points
