  1. In unrelated good news changes I've made on the backend of Demonland are holding up postgame.

  2. Very harsh on Lockhart. He was actually pretty good tonight. Secured his spot for next week.

  3. We lost that. We were on top for longer than they would and we should have won by 2-3 goals. Take your pick of which of our awful mistakes lost it for us: Weideman's missed shots, Bennell's miss, Pickett's miss, or the Hannan-Fritsch disaster late. The umpiring didn't help, nor did the crowd: that was an away game for us. The late "dangerous tackle" call on Pickett was an absolute disgrace. The score review on Lever was unfair too. The second quarter was poor but in the other three quarters were were good enough to win. It was those three quarters where we lost it.

  4. I'm shattered. I'm worn out too, but shattered more than anything. I felt like we deserved to win that game. Apart from the second term where Brisbane played some scintillating footy, I thought we were the better side for most of the night. I thought after half time our midfielders lifted superbly and our back line was absolutely fantastic. They kept us in the game when we really needed it. Viney was immense. His ability to get out of traffic but weaving and fending off tacklers is sensational. Oliver had another ripper game while Trac was fantastic yet again. They are making a real difference for us. Again, our back line was excellent. They are setting up really well down there. Cameron kicked a couple but outside of that he barely got a sniff, while Hipwood and McStay had little influence on the game. Want to give a shout out to two players: Melksham first. Kicked three and is showing why we have persevered with him up to this point. In these conditions he can be a classy player and it showed. The second is for Jackson. Tom Mac is going to find it hard to get back into the side with the kid playing the way he is. Love his athleticism and you can see his confidence lifting. And the umps can suck a big, fat one. They sucked all night. Onwards and upwards. Go Dees.

  5. Haha fair call mate! To be honest I’m just lucky I’m able to go to the game live as well as the QLD games upcoming. We will barrack hard for you guys! Current weather update. Touch wood, hope it stays this way.

  6. Well, folks, the big rain band has just cleared away from us here at Mudgeeraba. So, I was able to venture outside and measure the rainfall. Between 7am yesterday and 10 am today, we have had fully 170 mm of rain! (And, that's near the top of my gauge, so who knows how much splattered out the top! Got a gully behind my house, and it is fairly raging through there! Good news is that it is supposed to clear up later in the day. Right now I can even see some blue sky!

  7. The goal umpire called it a mark. We were 100 metres away with the ball and players running. The field umpire ran in and forced the review. Disgusting game by the umpires.

  8. Rubbish. Was part of a defence that kept us in the game for large parts of the night. Hipwood and McStay had no influence on the game and he spent time on both. Pathetic post.

  9. 2 things cost us this game Goalkicking/polish some of the worst/most bias umpiring i've ever seen.
    11 points
  10. Calm down Dazzle, Weid 3 misses, Bennell 2 misses, one 10 metres out, Kozzie, Harmes and Landon all straight in front. Kick one of them and we win.

  11. Here's a question. Why does the Lever score review need to stop play? Why can't the ARC review it behind the scenes and if it turns out it was a behind, then bring it back. The goal umpire should have called it a mark from the start. The score review system is making goal umpires second guess themselves.

  12. 28 touches, 10 tackles, 15 contested possies and 5 clearances. Might have missed a target or two in the conditions, but he worked his backside off for us all night.

  13. And that score review was a disgrace and could well have cost us the game. That is not what score reviews are supposed to be used for. The umpire was well positioned and had to make the call. Never mind that it wasn’t even close to being fully over. We were extremely unlucky

  14. Surprised no one has brought up the Kozzy ‘dangerous tackle’ decision. Absolute garbage. Viney has been tackled tht way all night. Pathetic. the Hannan kick, regardless of the stupidity of Fritsch that followed, was shocking too. Deep to a pocket. Even if Fritsch marks, what Is the chance he kicks it? A long central kick would have been better. There are those that will say, but at least it would have been a throw in..so what..the game was there to be won, you need to ask questions of the opposition in those final minutes if you wanna win games.

  15. If Harmes isn't holding on to a jumpers and giving away a free, he's then trying to break tackles and gets pinged for it. Dead set so predictable.

  16. You’re kidding aren’t you? That review call didn’t need to happen it was never going to impact the result. A [censored] disgrace

  17. Lots of mistakes, but Hannan's decision to kick to the pocket in that last play was beyond stupid.

  18. I’ve watched footy consistently for 36 years (I’m 42) and I don’t understand holding the ball anymore. It feels like if the ball bobbles out your ok, and otherwise take a guess. Has nothing to do with skill either way.

  19. No way is Tmac more mobile. You must be watching the wrong person. Tmac has a worse turning circle of Chris Dawes. Jackson is far more mobile and agile around the ground.

  20. Still bucketing down here on the GC. Think there's a chance the worst of the rain will be gone by later today. Once it eases off, the surface at Carrara will dry out very quickly, so still hope conditions won't be too bad this evening

  21. Brisbane gave us a lesson In stoppage work.

  22. We’ve lost to Weet Coast, Richmond, Geelong and Brisbane. And we find ourselves having to beat top of the table Port to keep our season alive. Tough comp, but we have to start winning some of these games.

  23. And Pickett missed a sitter after burning a teammate in the goal square. Langdon also missed a sitter after chopping off a ball meant for Melksham not to mention Harmes and Weid missing sitters They missed a few as well but Jesus those misses absolutely killed us

  24. That score review totally killed our momentum and the 50 was completely stupid on the part of that biased, corrupt individual. It wasn’t two isolated incidents either, it was a shocking effort all night by the umpires for both teams. It’s getting to a point where there is too much interpretation and stuff changing week to week. notice as well how every Brisbane player looks for a free kick at every stoppage, literally they turn to the umpires to ask the question every time. Tonight cut really deep.

  25. Ironic that a few minutes early Zac Bailey went about 7 moments too long in giving the ball back and it wasn't called.

  26. Brisbane went to school on our kickouts (not hard, we do the same predictable thing nearly every time)

  27. Viney was brilliant tonight. Not far off it, but had the forwards done their jobs and kicked straight, the points would’ve been ours.

  28. If Brisbane are one of the yardsticks then we are right up there, must find a way to win next week.

  29. We'd expect Kossie and Harley to nail the open play goals and Wied to sink the set shots Do that and we win well It's the basics that get us

  30. When Fagan left, many thought that the moderating influence on Clarko was also walking out the door. Easy to be calm cool and collected when things are going your way. Let's see how solo Clarko responds to the ultimate failure in football = LOSING

  32. Just home from the game. - Brisbane’s pressure around the ball was very very good and it was bloody tough to get a clean clearance - The above made Viney’s performance even more impressive, he was great in traffic all night - Oliver also very good after a couple of shaky kicks early, and Petracca also solid - Lever and May looked good down back, and Lockhart had a lot of small involvements that might not show up on a stat sheet - OMac struggled when the pressure was on, and Jetta really struggled, but had obviously copped a couple of knocks - Pickett was in the play a lot early, applying lots of pressure, but faded - Weid and Jackson did a solid job, but Weid’s misses were obviously costly - Brayshaw was no good, barely noticed him and when I did, it wasn’t overly positive - Almost forgot Langdon, he was always an option, was good defensively and his disposal seemed tidy, even going back towards the corridor

  33. Their tackling was top notch. Every time we moved the ball in a chain of handpasses, they had 2-3 players on the receiver so many times, particularly in the first half. Their coach knows how to defend.....wonder where he got that from? They missed a heap of shots at goal too. I love how we fought our way back into the game, Viney just willed us forward with 7 possessions in the first 7 minutes of the last quarter.

  34. Goal Review System - Cost us dearly. Yeah, we made a lot of mistakes and so did they but we were out and away when Lever took that mark. Surely that review takes place while the game goes on and if it's not a mark then they bring it back...

  35. Watch Hannah's last kick to Fritter in the pocket. THREE Brisbane players easily within 5m of Hannan. Why no 50m for that????

  36. Viney was immense. We should have won, but for the missed set shots and Harley’s. We are a whole lot better than we looked after round 4, which is a reason to be cheerful

  37. See ya Jetta. Its time you retire gracefully. So many missed opportunities. Harley, Pickett, Harmes, Weideman. The umpiring was dead set the worse ive seen it this year, and its been an absolute debacle.

  38. Definitely a game we lost rather than they won. Missed chances by Weid, Harmes & Bennell crucial. As for the yellow maggots... ?

  42. Just arrived back at The Manor and read Ethan's preview to bring me up to date. Had a terrible week really. Purchased what I thought were very sexy and moderately priced undies for the maid and it turns out they were face masks. Next, when I started talking up a Demons win the maid fled. Anyway I've been driving around all arvo searching for her. Didn't find her sadly but I lifted the spirits of the local serfs by letting them see me and giving them a wave. Now i'm cracking a reasonably priced shiraz quaffer and putting an obscenely fat steak on the barbie ( barbie as in cooking appliance that is). I'm super confident again. We showed some very convincing signs last week ( albeit against a [censored] Hawthorn) and reckon we'll only get better this week. Kozzie to kick a couple. Jones to surprise. Viney to cause serious injury. Dees by 27 !!!

  43. Until getting trapped in Oz I've spent most of my adult life living in time-zones west of Australia. I thought getting up at 5am in Europe to watch the football was a drag. But having to wait until after 5pm is much worse.

  44. Yeah mate I’m absolutely stoked to be able to go to some games live. Tonight and then Thursday night, plus Collingwood then hopefully North too. Sucks for you guys doing it tough down there. Living in Queensland not sure I’ll ever get the chance to see this many Dees games live in such a short space of time again, so going to make the most of it.

  45. You're really overrating Tmac here. He is quite slow and terrible when it comes agility and speed. Yes he has big insurance, cool. But when it comes to mobility and speed, Jackson has him covered easily. This is a big reason why the club think he can potentially become a midfielder because of how agile he is for a big bloke, and the way he moves around the ground and getting to contest like an extra midfielder. He was averaging 25 plus disposals as a ruckman in the 2nd half of his colts year last year. That to me shows he is more then capable of having a huge impact around the ground. Tmac has been hopeless this year. Jackson had more of an impact last week then Tmac has all year. In fact if anything he needs to lose a bit of weight as he is far too top heavy and this has slowed him down significantly this year.

  47. The wheels are continuing to fall off the arrogance train known as Hawthorn and it remains glorious to watch. Clarko’s clip of Tom Papley today “He milks frees as good as anyone” is cringeworthy imo. For a senior coach to have a sook like that naming another player is deadset embarrassing. Imagine the players groups mindset hearing this from your coach. Our first pick in 2020 draft continues to improve with the Hawks continuing to falter. I thought the Frost trade for a future second rounder would have netted us around 28-30 but it’s now looking like it could be around the 20 mark. Glorious

  48. Loving the Lockhart commentary in this thread everyone. Very enlightening. His development isn't that dissimilar from Nev's. Started up forward, but then moved back. Didn't get a heap of it, but was solid. Thought he struggled with the tempo against Richmond (or was it Geelong?), but since then he hasn't seemed to have coughed the ball up. Seems like a good coaching move to me.
