  2. Instead of banging on here all the time about how bad the club is, toodle off to the meeting and ask a few questions.

  3. I reckon Todd Viney is a legend, and I absolutely appreciate his involvement with, and effectively his life-long commitment, to this club. We need more of his type, not less. Strong clubs love these types. In this context, I can’t believe some of the comments and criticisms of him here - they’re genuinely pathetic. I hope Todd gets to enjoy a beer on the farm each weekend next year watching this club return to finals action, purely as a supporter without the pressures of his (now) former role.

  6. All we need is one more Eagles player to be found to have done similar and the whole team gets banned. Isn't that how the WADA rules go? Then another 15 clubs to have done similar and the 2019 Granny is Melb vs GCS The pieces are falling into place... Bwahahahahaaaa!!!!!!

  7. You've taken that way out of context. Firstly, the quote about being unprepared was in reference to the pre-season. Anyone who watched our first five rounds of the H&A season could see a team that was not fit enough and found it difficult to spread away from the contest. I would've thought it was as clear as day that we came into the season underdone given the number of absentees during the majority of our pre-season. Secondly, this was not the only reason he gave for the poor season. This was just what started it off. He also acknowledged during the interview: 1) That the pressure of expectation (being a success-starved club coming off a preliminary final) affected everyone, players and coaches included. 2) He needs to get better at detaching himself from his football life to his private life and not let the stress/pressures of footy affect his private life. 3) He noted we need to develop a game style that can be more identifiable so that supporters know what they are going to get. That's three points alone where he has acknowledged improvement required in coaching. So yeah, your assertion that he is blaming everyone else but himself is way off the mark.

  8. Look who liked the Goodwin Interview on the Dees Instagram. Now it's not unusual for people associated with other teams to like something from an opposition club on social media and he has a history with the club. I can't recall seeing him liking anything from the club but having said that I was never looking. I'll be positive for once in my Demons supporting career and I'm going to take this as a sign.

  11. He would only go if he didn't have the confidence in the list and his coaching team to make finals next year. The heat will be on in 2020. However, I just can't imagine Goodwin leaving the Dees. He is a proud man and believes in himself. He will want to finish what he started. And imv he is the best person available to do it.

  13. The way Melbourne are going at the moment we will probably give Goodwin another two years on top of his existing three years, just to fend off any suggestions about Adelaide.

  14. 100% Agree Ron. Todd bled red and blue for the MFC and has always come across as having a great team first attitude in the way he wend about his business both on and off the field, as does his son Jack. If the timing was right for both Todd and the MFC to part ways to start the next chapters, then well and good, but any true Demons supporter should be celebrating and expressing gratitude for his contributions. Any MFC people here expressing criticism at this time should be made to stand in the path of a charging Todd Viney hip and shoulder.

  15. Would pretty much make the off season. We need goal scoring power. We need quality smalls. We need marking options. He’s all of the above. We should be loading up ok free agents, as they cost us nothing in terms of draft picks and we’ve traded away all our first rounders for years on end now. To add Elliott and Tomlinson without giving up any picks would be huge for the club. Add in Langdon for a second round pick and that’s a very successful off season to balance out list and add mature talent.

  16. We tend to sign injury prone players on long term deals so why stop now.

  18. Classic stuff here. Firstly, no one is after May as he just came to the club and signed a long term deal. Secondly, Tomlinson can't be overpriced as we can get the bloke for free on a decent contract. Thirdly, what are the other instances of poor list management? I know we had a shocker of a season, but list management hasn't been the cause of that. We haven't lost anyone of significance and we've added some very handy players over the last 3-4 years, while signing up many of the kids that are crucial to our long term goals.

  19. I filled in an online petition some started with a submission to re-sign Frosty. It is run by change.org I think it would be a grave error in judgement to not offer Sam an new contract, but then the FD have made a few blunders in recent times. I cannot divulge more without giving away my identity

  20. The word i have heard is that Goodwin doesn't rate Frost as highly as some on here, and feels his trade value will never by higher. Same source called the Watts and Hogan trades mid season. Doesn't mean he will be traded, but if the deal is right they won't hesitate on moving him on.

  21. Dees should be hell bent in keeping Frosty... He gives 100% week in week out. Might make some mistakes. But which defender doesn’t? He does a hell of a lot right! I was rapt when we got him and would be rapt to keep him...

  23. The Members forum is a failed Collingwood idea, where Eddie would try to calm the masses. It's not a Melbourne thing. We are a bespoke club that should be centred around our history, our legacy and being small, efficient and smart. Quality over quantity. Peter Jackson seemed to understand that, he linked the club in to the city and focused on the heartland. Pert's desire for 70k members and silly things like a members forum won't get us anywhere. 2018 is done. Finished. Mistakes have been made, they are being rectified. If the administration wants to rebuild trust with the fan base then get the players back in to training in November and preach community interaction at open training sessions. Shake some hands, talk to the people who turn up. Anyone else is just hot air.

  26. I have absolutely no doubt that Goodwin is safe and will be coach for the whole of next season, another poor season then who knows. However, if Ross were to come to Melbourne I would spew, literally spew, track him down and spew on him.

  27. The AGM is really the time to get stuck into Barlett and Pert, if that's what you want to do. This forum is about the football, and given the year we've had is a brave and brilliant thing the club is doing.

  28. I’m becoming increasingly frustrated with watching interviews with Simon Goodwin, and coming away with absolutely zero insight. He seems to think the Melbourne supporters are sated by cliché and hollow corporate-speak.

  29. It couldn't possibly be that after nine years Todd has had enough in the job and football, and wants a complete tree change. No, we have to conflate it with Rawlings leaving at the same time, up the ante on the conspiracy theories, speculate about rifts in the management and coaching panel, and even blame Todd for the state of the club. Typical Demons supporters. It's not even a veil of negativity now, it's a full-on burkha.

  31. I find it extremely difficult to believe that Viney and Rawlings leaving on their 'own terms' is just coincidence given the season we've had.

  32. I don't understand your post. For every positive piece of play you name, I could name a negative one. I hold an indifferent view when it comes to Frost. I mean, if we got a second round pick for the former rookie we'd be laughing but if we didn't I'd rather persist. The point is that there seems to be an imbalance in the views of supporters on here in regards to what Frost offers. Why name all of those positive plays without acknowledging the goals he gifts opposition sides, free kicks he gives away or turnovers he makes? It doesn't make sense.

  34. It wasn't THE problem, it was a contributing factor to how things turned out. Why do people seem to find it so difficult to consider a multitude of factors impacting our performance this season? It was a perfect storm of everything that could go wrong going wrong. It was a bad season but it won't define this playing or coaching group.

  35. There's some amazing nonsense on this thread. Let's assume bringing him in doesn't kill our salary cap space (which, given he's almost a direct swap for Lewis and Garlett, it couldn't possibly). Is he better than any of ANB, either of the Wagners, JKH, Lockhart, Dunkley or some of the other fringe players regularly getting games with us? Of course he is. It's an utter no-brainer. If he's a walk up start at GWS, he sure as he is a walk up start for us.

  36. Jesus H Christ, he has bought a farm and has decided to change his career path. All of you negative nellies suggesting there is some plot to rid people in roles at club, get a grip. Christ, if the club came out and said they had found a cure for cancer there would be some of you putting a negative spin on that!

  37. I can see Clarko turning Frosty into an absolute beast running off Half Back, if he was traded. Frosty is big and athletic with the right attitude. The rest can be taught and Clarkson knows it. Goodwin, it’s time we got a Skills Coach into the the Club rather than under valuing what we already have. Frost is a keeper....

  38. Makes no sense to trade Frost given his improvement and given the dodgy bodies of Lever, May and Jetta. His physical attributes have been mentioned by others but it is the probable loss of other key backs during the season that worries me most. And despite his brain fades, he brings genuine excitement that few of our players bring to a game Many of our players have as little spark as a flat battery. Would be really disappointed to see him go.

  39. Proof will be in the pudding. It was a tough year for everyone involved, and I have no doubt Goody is working his backside off to help us get better over the off season. But we also know that it means nothing unless it happens. The only thing that interests me right now are our fitness levels - if we have a healthy list that gets things underway positively when November rolls around, then we are already making inroads into improving across the board in 2020.

  40. He has been with us for the best and not so best times of the last decade and by all accounts has been successful in the various roles he has had at the club. Roos sang his praises on OTC the other night. He said Todd is an excellent operator and gave him great support while our coach. Given that Roos is a relatively independent voice I put great store in his comments on Todd. So his replacement will have big shoes to fill.

  42. The years spent in investing and seeing Frosty develop why would you let him go to another club, if it is money remember Carlton came up short on Betts , Adelaide's gain. They say the Dees lack leg sped on the wings well why don't they let frost have a go there let other clubs try matching up with some like Sam who is quick, good overhead and can kick a long distance no wonder the Hawks and Roos are licking their lips. What a ready made footballer they would get.. A long time supporter please keep Sam Frost reminds me of a young Gary Hardiman. Stick with the Dees Sam. David long time suffering supporter

  43. How could he rate Frost as highly as some on here? He'd have to be a mix of Scarlett and Fletcher with a touch of Silvagni thrown in.

  44. Spud was so humble that when asked to carry the Commonwealth Games torch in his leg he sought out children with disabilities to carry it with him. Our daughter was one of the lucky kids chosen- this act proved to me what a lovely guy he was. Such a tragedy - my prayers go out to his family and loved ones at this time.
