  1. Jesus there have been some rippers on Nathan Jones lately, just a few point out a couple: - Shouldn't be on a family holidays, instead at home curled up watching every minute of every finals. - Deserves to take a pay cut because he is selfish - Needs to be delisted - Needs to retire - Shouldn't be captain of the club because he doesn't even care.. Only at Melbourne do we absolutely tear strips of a club champion and heart and soul player ?‍♂️

  2. I'm very clear on this If we are going to get him i think he is a great pick up. If we aren't i think he is total dud and i was never vaguely interested in getting him. Same applies to Amon and Langdon.

  4. Like the level of your comprehension skills. That quote is no different to some stuff thrown up here. Not only are they not convinced going by that quote, but there is no substance or evidence behind it. These last few weeks have shown us that you're nothing more than a fair weather supporter. You find any way you can to attack the club and go missing when we are up and about. You're revelling in these rumours and innuendo and doing all you canto stir up trouble. I think it's time to put you on ignore, something I should have done a while ago. I encourage everyone else to do the same so we can all enjoy our time here without reading your drivel. Cheers.

  5. Bumping this one for a Pedo update. Heard from the brother-in-law that Cam took out the League B&F with 38 votes (inc 10 BOG's). Looks like thethe Dogs have been through the season without a loss too...one draw.

  6. I think we all agree that NJ has been a warrior for the MFC especially during some dark times over many years, however, the thought of giving him another year or two just because 'we owe him' is just rediculous. To me anyway it shows a clear indication that the clubs culture is not about to change dramatically in the very short term. That's a real concern..... Its only me but when I think of captains & good respected leaders, I think of Selwood, Hodge, Hurn, Cotchin, Pendlebury, Davis & Fyfe. If you think Jones is in this category, then that's fine, but maybe I know nothing about footy. Also the selection of the captaincy is & always has been finalised at the conclusion of preseason & I don't see any changes to that process, however, in saying that, like many I see Max as the obvious sole captain. We have far greater issues to address than who is going to be the 'face of the club over summer' & it wont make any difference to the players during that training block & I would imagine that the majority of the players regard Max as a leader anyway. Time to get real.

  8. Agree on all points It's funny that one of the rumours on here about his supposed discontentment was that he he was being asked to rein in his nstural attacking flair. Who knows if that is true (being asked to curb his flair, not the rumour of discontentment) but personally I think they should encourage him to he more selfish and go for more goals.

  9. The unit and charlemagne will have to go on with it after lunch. We should be looking to score 400 plus. Great batting surface. I just love watching the unit bat.

  10. Please do not compare Nathan Jones with that 'Tex' Walker dufus. Announcing the Captain/s will come in due time. The dust hasn't settled on this year yet.

  11. Big spread in the hun re players on the move ‘whispers’. Zero mention of Dees players. You would think if they wanted out, or were on the way out, there would at least be a ‘whisper’...

  12. That's funny. Because I believe if we pick up any of those players they are clearly unwanted duds and will only clog our list. Watch them become superstars if they go to any other club though.

  15. I could pick out many things I dislike about the article but the general the gist of it and the overall content - I just think it’s fair to say that the timing is very poor. The club is leading Brayshaw up the garden path with feedback like that. The season was a big [censored]-sandwich. Sprinkling hundreds and thousands on it with content like this only makes it worse in my view.

  16. Not like he hacked Jones' phone to get it.

  17. Lol, you're not the messenger, mate. You read it on the BigFooty board and have interpreted a single post as 'they are dead-set convinced' Petracca is gone.

  18. The ultra edge technology helps discerning between the sounds of the bat, pads and clothing during play. The technology uses the stump microphones to differentiate clearly between the sounds created by the different sources. It is an improved version of Snicko.

  19. Gunston or Breust + 11 for Trac maybe. Actually no, I still think Petracca has too much potential. I want to see how he goes next season before contemplating a trade.

  23. Jeebus, it’s not a race. And I suggest if we’re looking for role-models for how to run a club, Adelaide should be close to last on that list.

  24. The first impression, and that is all the the vast majority will ever get, is that they are pretty satisfied with what was an awful season. If that is actually the case then we are genuinely doomed to eternally accepting mediocrity. I hope there is some underlying subtext that I have missed though.

  25. WYL doesn't think rationally. He'll want him lighting candles every night and praying to the ghost of Norm Smith to lift the curse for us because curses exist and they matter to current players just like they matter to old blokes who can't let go.

  26. Is it a bad thing that I have absolutely zero interest in the finals, and therefore will probably not watch a minute of it with the exception of the Grand Final?

  27. When the siren sounded Lewis seemed to make a beeline to him, I seen it on my Tv, seemed to be questioning why he made the Hail Mary inboard kick to a badly out numbered player instead of following team rules, kicking down the line to where the on ballers had gathered to kill the ball, and kill the game, Tatts just shrugged his shoulders and walked away, I imagined that would be the last time those two players would ever speak, that’s the club at the moment, it is what it is.

  28. What percentage of players drafted between 10 - 20 since 2000 have played over 200 games? I wouldn’t mind betting it’s less than 33%. So some people on this thread are happy to take a less than 1 in 3 chance on a kid and trade Petracca who will play over 200 games, just crazy! Petracca is one of the few players who improved this year, in a team that was terrible. Would be a shocking a trade for pick 10-20, or 8-18! The most successful teams in last 15 years include Hawks, Swans, Geelong, and WC have the opposite strategy!

  32. Yeah nah. Brayshaw's year was the single biggest reason we went from where we were last year to where we are now. He's that important to us, and to have a 3rd in the brownlow player dish up some of those performances this year no wonder we stank so bad.

  33. Hilarious. ..the epitome of the Melbourne stereotype.. Rather be at the snow...and in September. ...says it all. Footy aint for everyone. ... Especially those in Red and Blue Keep on shredding... eh

  35. I'll leave this thread up so the coterie of clowns can have their laugh and be laughed out. On a related note enough with the trade everyone threads. If a genuine whisper is out there in the media we'll allow discussion.

  39. The difference is every Australian cricketer idolised Waugh and Ponting. They all grew up barracking for Australia and wanting to play for Australia. The reality is most of our current playing list don’t hold Neitz, Green and Wiz in the same esteem as we do on demoland.

  42. Yes. I know. It’s like all the trades for Brayshaw, Petracca, Viney. Ridiculous isn’t it. Yet we have pages of pages. I think Gawn and Oliver might be the only safe ones if you read demonland. Crazy times and crazy posts ahead.

  43. Tom Cutler from Brissy is a better option IMO and would come cheaper after having an injury interrupted year. He's back playing now but Brissy have no injuries so is unlikely to get a look in for finals, and could struggle behind Robertson and McLuggage next year anyway. Same age as Amon, a little taller and has similar speed.

  44. If Jones gets a game next year it should only be to cover serious injuries and we have gone backwards. Loyalty means sheeit when you finish 17th IMV.

  47. At the risk of flogging a dead horse our shocking preseason prevented drilling in things over and over gain. Introducing new systems require all team availability for a high proportion of training sessions. Goodwin acknowledged that perhaps he overreached in terms of trying to implement new systems. That same disrupted preseason is the reason why we were not fit enough (and Lewis has said pointedly that some, presumably young players didn't come back fit enough, which if true would not have helped). On new game style we absolutely tried to implement a more chip and hold system. This was particularly evident after the bye. it perplexes me that so many DL posters don't seem to have noticed this. Of course all game styles require two way running but this approach requires multiple players offering multiple leads and options when their team has the ball. And when they don't multiple players running to cover outlet kicks. Together that demands huge aerobic fitness - and i said we newer got fit enough. It is for this reason that we got smashed in last quarters so regularly. We ran out of gas and couldn't stop the switch and run it out of defence style teams like WC are so good at. The interesting thing about this game style is i reckon it is one that is built for the home and away season. Contested ball is still super important but the keeping of style means there are less collisions (and much to the chagrin of the AFL less scoring opportunities - hard to score when you kick 4 or 5 times across you half back flank and then chip it slowly down the ground) and therefore hopefully less contact injuries and not as hard for players to get up and recover week after week. Very taxing aerobically but less physical toll. More than ever we have two different seasons. Home and Away and Finals. I suspect that this finals we will see much less chip and hold, quicker ball movement, an emphasis on getting it forward, high presssure around the ball, more big contests and the sort of game the dees played last year because in most games there is no tomorrow. This suits teams like the Tigers, Giants and bullies i reckon.
