  1. I posted this else where but thought it deserved it’s own topic Well boys, we knew this day was coming a long time ago and we've come to terms with it. Truth is Dec was a bit over football anyway, to be putting in all that blood, sweat and tears to not be playing regular senior footy isn't easy. That being said, the family and I will be forever grateful to the Melbourne Football Club for giving Dec the chance to live out his life long dream, and he got that chance on a sunny afternoon at the MCG. Not only that, but they won a close game, and himself having an impact on that result (his centre clearance for those who remember) He and us will never forget it. To everyone at Demonland, since I first started posting here 5 years ago when Dec started playing some decent footy at Casey, thank you for all your kind words. I have had a great time being able to share this experience with super passionate supporters which are sometimes hard to find. I have sincerely enjoyed the conversations and experiences I've had over the years and I'll be sure to pop back in ever now and again as I now and will always bleed Red and Blue. Dec's career wasn't the most glamorous by any stretch but only a very small percentage of people who ever play our beloved game get to say they played in the AFL. Cheers everyone, and have a drink on me!

  4. Bloke gave us some exciting times as a Dee. Will miss him at his best. Best wishes to Dec as well, seemed like a hard worker. Garlett and Keilty depart

  6. Thanks @Drunkn167 - you’ve been a great poster, mostly positive and a great supporter of Declan who I, and a few others, thought should have been given one final opportunity late in the season when so many of our talls were out injured. You’re right about the fact that he did get to play at the highest level which is more that can be said of most of us mere mortals who can only dream about such an achievement. Not only that, but it’s not necessarily over and I hope that there’s another club out there willing to take a punt on him as a delisted free agent and if not that, then there’s plenty of good football competitions around where he can find his niche and enjoy the game that he’s been very good at playing. Cheers ?

  7. Cheers Jeffy! Quite the series of highlights to be found from his time as a Demon!

  8. Here is a thought.. why don't they get their priority pick ahead of the 8 clubs that made finals, so not to impact those trying to move up the biased ladder... I don't know just a bit of logic!

  9. Demonland proves some guarantees. One of them is that the same posters who are currently complaining about us making decisions before this “review” is complete, would be complaining if we had not made those decisions and waited instead (“Nero fiddled while Rome burns” would surely have got a run).

  10. Had a disappointing last couple of seasons but Garlett added some excitement to the side over the years. At his best, he was a seriously dangerous small forward. Came basically for free too, with the added bonus of enabling us to laugh at Carlton. All the best Jeff. Thanks to Keilty for the services as well.

  11. Gillon McLachlan really is a blight on the game. He moves the goal posts to suit his agenda, talks about wanting players to stay at certain teams (Coniglio) and comes up with rules on the fly. I don't care if it is pick 2 or 3, as the end result is these players will eventually leave the GC and come back to Melbourne. The only way the AFL will be able to keep players up there is if they give the Suns double the salary cap of the other clubs. It's just so frustrating that this is another example in a long line of AFL bias and a completely inept administration.

  12. No mucking around by Ed if the article is accurate, skipped mad Monday to ramp up talks. Good on him for eagerly wanting to be a Demon. Just get a deal done now.

  13. Pity it's not Viney on the table instead Angus will become a very very good player, I don't want to see that in an opposition jumper.

  14. I live in WA mate, they are fickle lot over here and turn very quickly on players who decide they are moving. Eagles supporters turned very quickly on Judd, when he said he was going home. They fail to acknowledge he looked after them when he could have walked through the PSD, which Carlton wanted him to do I agree with you about not paying overs, pick 21 is about right

  17. Loved Jeffy! Felt like he was unfairly maligned last year and should have been playing up forward instead of Spargo. Jeffy was your typical Paul Roos pick and unfortunately we haven't had once since. He brought excitement and at his best back in 2017 was unlucky not to be named in the 40 All Australian squad. All the best to Declan Keilty as well and thanks heaps to @Drunkn167 for all the updates and input. VFL for next year for Dec?

  20. Who cares if we end up with Pick 2 or 3? At the start of the year, we would have all been expecting a pick in the range of 16-18. Instead, the club got ahead of itself, players turn up unfit and well, the rest is history. Anybody who thinks we have been screwed by the AFL because GC get pick 2 need to take a good hard look at themselves imo, If this club actually stood for something, we wouldn't even be discussing the possibility of getting an early 1st round pick!

  21. Ash - Strong half back/ midfielder who's biggest strength is his high speed and power to break the lines. Started the season and under 18 championships as a running half back flanker whos intercept marking is also highlight. After the championships ended, there were question on whether Ash could push up into the midfield. Proved that theory correct by averaging around the 24 disposal mark since playing as an on baller. Ripper bloke who is co-captain of the bushiesand a really driven individual. 187cm 84kg. Young - Half back player who like Ash was questioned whether he could make the transition from back to the midfield and again proving that he's adding more strings to the bow by pushing up to a wing and winning big numbers around the midfield. Shows absolute class and silk with his dead eye right foot kick. His ability to kick low flat 50m kicks to a target is seriously a sight to behold. 188cm tall who is also a strong intercept mark and someone who would make an immediate impact for an AFL club next year as a half back flanker/wingman. Lachie Whitfield type for me.

  22. We’re entitled to pick 2 because we finished second last. Would I prefer we actually did what most of us here expected to do and back up last year with finals? Of course. But the team that finishes second last gets pick 2. Gold Coast getting another top 2 pick isn’t surprising but it’s not going to solve the issue. They should’ve instead been given multiple additional picks lower down (say top 20-30) that they’d have to trade and go after senior players that can help build something there. They are a rudderless ship and to send another top two draft prospect there not going to fix their larger issues.

  23. I work with and have quite a few mates who go for Freo, all of whom rate Langdon quite highly. I haven’t spoken to one who has said they can’t wait to get rid of him. Odd.

  24. Ah @Drunkn167 I was going to see how you were going when I saw Dec had been delisted. Thank you for all of the great insights and feedback from you and how Dec is going. It was brilliant to see the build up to Dec getting his big day on the G! What an experience he and you and the family are so lucky to have been a part of it. Kudos to Dec for all of his efforts to get to the big stage and I hope he (and you guys) feels a part of the Dees forever moving forward.

  25. Coniglio has just re-signed on massive $. GWS have to be stretched to the limit of their salary cap now. Whitfield is a restricted free agent end of next year. They wont get anywhere near pick 2/3 as compensation if he left. We will never be in a better position to have a real go at the exact requirement of our team. We have to explore this possibility to the hilt.

  26. I think it would be a massive mistake to trade Brayshaw. I can understand why he is expendable when he plays both an outside and inside role. Why do they need 2 top 10 picks? We have pick 2 or 3 and a Brayshaw is a top 10 pick himself. They would want to be landing a big fish rather than just getting in kids.

  31. Stick him on one wing and Langdon on the other, put Young on a HBF and our run and kicking have all improved.

  32. I know the family so I keep an eye on Karl. I dont think he is worth more than a late 2nd rounder. He is 24 now and plays well when the team is going strong. he is fast though and his last couple of weeks have been good, one fantastic goal.

  33. Two things. One, Steven May proved when he was fit that he'll be a massive asset in our backline. True, he could have been more professional in his approach to pre-season training which then hampered his year, but I've seen enough to be convinced that getting him is the right move. Two, it's not as if Hogan set the world alight at Freo. His foot looks to be a long term injury concern for him so it's not as if he went and kicked 60 goals for the season. And Dean Kent did what we all knew he would - play decent footy and then get a long term injury. Regular as clockwork.

  35. Thanks. You made the statement that "Richardson has been brought in as a consequence of Goodwin “not connecting” for whatever reason". When queried, you say you haven't got an answer to my question. So you just made the Goodwin "not connecting" bit up. Too many people here make stuff up, or repeat rumours from totally unreliable sources, or engage in unjustified supposition about the internal workings of the club when they haven't got a clue.

  37. What's with the poor me victim. Mentality on here. The GCS need all the help hey can get and picks 1 & 2 will give them some real currency to trade in some senior leadership which they desperately need. I think the AFLmis doing the right thing by providing GCS picks 1 and 2 and if the difference between pick 2 and 3 is going to hurt us then our problems are much bigger than many think they are.

  38. I have kept a close eye on him the past few weeks and he has surprisingly been playing very well. Neat left foot who wpuld add speed and outside run. Absolutely would be happy with this. The type that would thrive on an open space on the G

  40. Let’s face facts, if we lose pick 2 (and Anderson) then it may as well be to a basket case like the Gold Coast. They can’t retain players therefore they are zero threat going forward and a player like Anderson will likely end up back in Victoria within 3 years. Our main aim is to cut the [censored], grow and become a club that players (like Anderson) want to come to for future success.

  41. They need incentives to keep the players they already have, they don’t need more 18 year olds who don’t want to be there.

  42. This notion of trading Brayshaw is ridiculous. I’d want a A Grader in return and Langdon ain’t that. Not even close. It’s a [censored] draft and therefore the 2nd rounder is useless. I hate the offseason
