  1. Yep, Saty, I get your loyalty to the club but your lack of balance in this matter undermines your stance. Last year the camp coverage was first class, this year it is an afterthought. No updates since Saturday? really?. It has been substandard compared to what we have become used to. That is a fact.

  2. The day I start judging players on Brownlow votes I'll give the game away. Jetta has none from 141 games. Kreuzer has often been cruelled by injury during his career, which hasn't helped him, however, I prefer to judge players using the good old-fashioned eye test. Kreuzer is a heart and soul type player, who at his best made the AA squad of 40 and earnt the respect of his teammates, while Watts is a pea-heart who jumps for a mark in a pack (only when he couldn't avoid it) with his eyes closed and one arm in the air hoping body contact wouldn't be too severe. In Kreuzer's best year he averaged 105 AFL ranking points. Watts never hit 80 in his best year. For a laugh have a look at his 2018 year. He came 20th in the B&F having played 19 games. In 4 of 5 games, where 20 or 21 out of 22 players received votes, he missed out. More amusing he just pipped Hamish Hartlett, who finished 21st, by 4 votes. Hartlett played the grand total of 5 games. ? The bloke is a total ar$e-clown and you do Kreuzer a disservice to even compare him to a Jack "I get over losing pretty quickly" Watts.

  3. I'm not at all sure why people didn't like Burgo. he was great! he was the first person to give decent pre-season diaries and the first person to interview our recruiting manager every year which was great because he is one of the most important people at our club. He interviewed the coaches and players before and after the game which wasn't done before (we had to wait for official afl releases). And he also was the first person to interview misson about our rehab group each year which I hadn't seen before. I always really appreciated the work he did.

  4. I know we have a 24 hour news cycle and way too many wannabe journalists trying to eke out a living, but this obsession that society has with being offended by every little thing that is said and done by consenting adults in private simply astounds me. Jack is a silly boy for letting himself be filmed but beyond that, who cares? He is enjoying himself, in the off season, out of the country and no laws have been broken. Port are entitled to be disgruntled about the impact on their image, but Koch is the last person who can complain about having private acts splashed across the media - he has made a career out of doing it to others. Yes, Jack is a supremely talented footballer who may look back on his career as a waste, but that is his cross to bear. He has been paid extremely well to do something he enjoys for over a decade, has lived a life that most of us can only dream of, and has plenty of options post-football. Good luck to him.

  5. I still chuckle at the meltdown from 70% of posters when we traded this guy away. I was always hoping Roos would trade him out after his first season in charge.

  6. Whatever your value judgement on the incident, the majority of people including AFL footballers would not behave this way. Watts can now say it "looks bad". Yes it does, but he did it. Whatever the substance, Jack looks the worse for wear. Was the waitress consenting ? She was not objecting, but do you think she was getting a lot of fun out of it? I suspect not, but a bunch of Aussie lads on holiday (as if that makes any difference) wanted to have a bit of fun at the expense of the waitress. Its demeaning and sexist. The majority of men including AFL players would not have behaved this way. Its not Jack Trengove, a team mate and friend of Watts. Watts is clearly a party boy who likes the social limelight but lacks the commitment and discipline to be a top footballer. But we are not talking about football, but an attitude and action that is inappropriate and ill disciplined whoever the person be and another case of men behaving badly towards women. The fact that Watts says it looks bad, simply means "he looks bad." It's all about him. What about the young woman? Any reference or apology . No of course not. I forgot, she was obviously having fun.

  7. GOT Pick 6 and Pick 23 — GAVE AWAY Jesse Hogan and Pick 65 GOT Steven May and Kade Kolodjashnij — GAVE AWAY Pick 6 27. Melbourne - Thomas Sparrow, midfielder (South Adelaide) which was pick 23 before a downgrade. Therefore May, KK and Sparrow for Jesse and 65. All 3 could be in our best 22 some time this year.

  9. Kenty did the right thing by his family, no need to berate the man. He saw the writing on the wall after this past season. 3 years on better coin with a guaranteed spot, compared to a gig at casey, you would have to have rocks in your head not to take it.

  10. How much media tripe do people want from the club or from the footy media? We live in a world saturated with information much of it of little value. Sure I want to hear important news but much of the stuff people seem to want to hear or read is not important. The season is still weeks away. Do you want to read stuff all the time? The more media stuff is demanded and supplied, the more trivial and unimportant it becomes. The amount of stories and news is directly proportional to its quality or standard. One of the problems today is that sport has become stale, it has lost its freshness. Matches of one sort or another are being played all year and there is the never ending media commentary. Cricket, Tennis, Footy etc. The administrators, advertisers, media outlets etc want saturation of their sport or product. As a result, the anticipation and excitement of waiting for the the season to begin has been mitigated by the constant exposure of the sport. Sure I want to hear important news but why do we demand to hear stuff all the time. New information, insightful reports are good, but most of what we hear or read is of little value. Nothing changes. So the troopers who sent training reports....fantastic. I much prefer reading independent reports from our loyal posters than hearing some media spin from our footy club.

  11. That is the greatest load of bollocks I have ever seen on Demonland. Yes, it could work.

  12. Agree, the team & admin are ticking along nicely & that's of primary importance. It's just that the online fan engagement isn't, it's an area where we are sadly lacking. Without Demonland & posters like yourself we would have very little information about training & the players.

  14. A NOMINATED player will have the power to kick a 20-point supergoal and potentially win his side the game in the dying stages of a match in this year's AFLX tournament. The 'Gatorade game changer' will have his score worth double during the last five minutes of a match, with each team having the opportunity to select a particular player in that role. A behind will be worth two points, a six-point major recorded as 12 points and a 10-point supergoal will become 20 points from the game changer in the competition to be played at Marvel Stadium on February 22. A 10-point supergoal can be scored in two ways: either when a player from the attacking team kicks the ball from anywhere within or behind the launch zone (pictured in graphic below) OR when the ball is kicked within or behind the launch zone and is marked inside the 15-metre forward zone by a teammate who then scores a goal. After teams nominate their game changers with five minutes to play, the match will stop for 30 seconds for game changers to get in position, with the team in possession to retain the ball after the break. If the ball is in dispute, the umpire will throw it up where the game was stopped. Another rule adaptation for AFLX will see players have just 10 seconds to take their set-shot kicks for six-point or 10-point goals when the mark is taken outside the 40m arc, in a bid to speed up the game. None of the AFLX sides – Team Deadly, Team Rampage, Team Flyers and Team Bolts – will have coaches but there will be high performance staff from AFL clubs to help manage player loads, initiate rotations and lead warm-ups, among other duties. Other rule changes and adaptations include: Each team will have 14 players: eight on the field, six on the interchange bench (no interchange limit), up from the 10 players per side in 2018. The field umpire will throw the ball up to begin play at the start of each half and after a supergoal is scored. A player has the opportunity to play on from out of bounds after the 'last touch' rule. Players can run 20m without taking a bounce or touching the ball on the ground.

  16. I agree Chazz, this year has been a disappointment for me. Greatful for the guys on here getting to training, but to not have a training report or interview from Saturday on the MFC website is really [censored] poor. Not just Maroochydore, but pre season in general. Going to really feel like many will start to appreciate the work Matt Burgan did around the joint. Always loved Burgos work.

  17. I don't care whether people think it's right, wrong, or are indifferent, but what I do know is that Watts is just another a-clown cruising through an AFL career. Goodwin has shipped off Hogan, Watts, and Bugg, for a reason. He's a very smart man our Goody and his decisions remind me of the excellent image Gonzo shared a while back written by the great Ronald Dale Barassi.

  18. I was happy that the article went with 'Port Adelaide player' and not ex-Melbourne... For me, playing with consenting breasts is one of life's great joys, for everyone one involved, and has very little to do with his ability as a footballer. And as has been said by others, obviously taking the urine. I sometimes feel we are headed for a world of sad, wannabe puritans who can't discern between consent, fun, and actually offensive behaviour, it is Oktoberfest, not a bloody kindergarten. By the way it isn't mutually exclusive to enjoy drinking champagne off a consenting nipple (for instance) and being an ardent feminist. Blowing off steam and getting drunk are risky behaviours (as are other drugs), things do go wrong, and the worst possible result is death, but the likelihood of that is still low enough (as proved by all os us on here surviving our teenage years) to be acceptable and tremendously sad for those that don't. But living in a world where all risk is redacted and sanitized, no thanks, we will just be killing ourselves more slowly as a spinless species of semi bright apes.

  23. Go for your life, but it doesn't address the issue at hand and I don't see where I've bemoaned Burgo's being gone either. The spin is you are picking and choosing bits & pieces of posters and making up the mythical poster. A lot on here would like to see a bit more from the club. Is there really anything wrong with that?

  24. If we could go back and add 4 or 5 top players to those Northey & Daniher teams we almost certainly would have won a flag or 2. And top management goes with all that. And a good culture. And you win flags then everything is viewed differently. We've never had the talent levels in my opinion. Hopefully that changes. And just on being a top player ... as a forward the front position is a prerequisite and so is the ability to take a contested mark. Basic skills 101. Without those basics a tall forward can never be a top player.

  27. When I used to live in Queensland, the only way I would get any information about the Demons is either this website, or the club website. Burgs did a tremendous job at putting enough content up for me to get my weekly fix. Demonland is/was a great way to communicate with fellow Demons. Burgs was clearly passionate about the Demons - you could sense his excitement after a win, and his disappointment when we lost. You could tell he was, in some ways, living his dream of being involved in the Melbourne Football Club from an employment perspective. Even though I now live back in Victoria, I still don't have the luxury of attending training sessions, etc during the week, so I'm again relying on the Club website and Demonland. What I can say though is that my 4yo son, who is starting to become obsessed with all things Melbourne, especially one M Gawn, I love showing him footage and/or photos on the MFC app/website of the players. I much prefer him, at that age, to get his own little Gawny fix from the Club website than an internet chat room. Personally, I think the preseason communications from the club has deteriorated. I'm not going to slit my wrists over it, and the Club isn't going to lose my young bloke as a member, but it is definitely an area that I would love to see improved, as I enjoy the bit of quality time I get to spend with my son when we are watching videos or looking at photos of the players.

  28. i understand the focus of pumping resources into the the football department as a priority. Which was PJ's approach. But really now that we have more resources they need to invest in growing our membership. The way to grow our membership is to get kids and young people supporting our club. In this day and age the way to connect and engage with kids and young people is through quality online content and social media. Neither of my kids watch any free to air TV. At all. It is all youtube and Instagram and in my son's case also NBA.com. The only time my son mentions anything about the dees is when something pops up in his Instagram feed. Burgs was fine but he wasn't the issue. The turn of the century approach to media and content is the issue. Get with the program dees. Invest. Develop some quality content t (like down the ground video, analysis etc) and not just 90 seconds rubbish clips, longer content (eg 15 mins). Fans will consume it and cast to their TVs or watch on their devices. I would. Sort out the social media aspect. Sort out a proper Youtube presence (the Dees MFC site is embarrassing). Simple really. But requires an investment

  30. I'm sorry but if she is consenting she is consenting. if you question whether she was having fun, then you must question whether he was too. Otherwise, it a massive double standards. I agree he was silly to get filmed but he was in fricking Germany where no-one knows him. he is having fun with a legal substance and there was no nudity whatsoever.

  33. I agree the coverage of The Camp in 2019 especially Saturdays wonderful open Day has been somewhat underwhelming. What has happened to Burgo? No longer with us ? Did I mess an email? A fantastic turnout of Dees Qld fans and really those who went would not be disappointed. Players were great and couldn't do enough to sign be photographed and talk to all ages and embrace this opportunity to meet new fans no doubt to this opportunity. Just a few photos and some summary would be great to let our fans elsewhere in Aust and beyond to show how hard they are training to get 2019 to a new level and be the team we believe and want to be the best they can be. Otherwise all going well and rehab group will feature in the JLT. Trust our medicos and decision makers. We have learnt the hard way with Vines in 2017!! My summary of Sat Open day in Maroochydore is somehow in the section headed "How our recruits are shaping up" No doubt due to my lack of technology expertise. Go Dees !!

  38. Matthew Kreuzer sits comfortably with Watts on level of output achieved in careers thus far (and that's sfa). Kreuzer has an excuse though, he's been injured for a majority of them, but he is not a great warhorse, more like a broken down horse (if he is a great warhorse, then that makes me Phar Lap). But to say that Watt's is so far behind the likes of Kreuzer, Swallow, Patton and even Boyd (he played his best footy on the biggest stage, but he did sfa before or since) is a little far-fetched. And let's not forget Paddy McCartin, who has probably done less at the same stage of his career, nor has Weitering been any decent yet either. Malcolm is just continuing to be Malcolm.............clueless. p.s. i have never been a huge Watts' fan and think Goody was right in trading him out, but the cr@p that Blight has dribbled represents the knowledge of an imbecile

  40. Maybe its just me but I feel people have short memories on the quality of prior efforts by Burgs. Most of the diaries were filled with garbage over the music on the bus and who chose it and who cooked the best steak the night before for their room mates. There was little of any substance. Aside from no update from Saturday I think our social media and web updates have been much improved this off season in consistency, immediacy and quality. Curious to see how they are during the actual season.

  42. I wonder what the AFL has to say about this? It does have a Respect and Responsibility Policy in place and whilst the emphasis is on physical violence and mental abuse of women, it also sanctions activity that degrades women and this is a prime example of exactly that. Forget the woman in the video who willingly took part in Watts’ little escapade. Think of women in general; think of the image Watts is representing and think of the example this sets for young kids who look upon AFL players as heroes. As far as Port Adelaide is concerned, they are heading for a fall - neither they nor their player appear to be particularly remorseful. That’s a sure sign that there are cultural problems at that club.

  43. Agreed. I can only assume the new MFC's media bloke was/is sick in his hotel room throughout the entire camp. They've had a whopping one player interview (Jetta) and that was back on day 1. Burgan was a good contributor to the MFC website and probably did his best work during the camps. He certainly kept the fans well truly updated with what was happening up on the Sunshine Coast.
