  1. Spoke to Clayton for 5 minutes at the Casey match on Saturday and was telling him my lad and I were driving back to Adelaide after the match after making the trip for both finals so far. Clayton "So are you coming to Perth?" Me "Probably not, I'm going to save my coin for the week after" <cheekily> Clayton "Great idea! Don't stress - We got this! See you in a couple of weeks" <with some serious confidence> I don't like Clarry..... I LOVE HIM!

  2. I would cry like a baby. 2015 my First son Jack was a still born, heading to the footy and watching the boys was my escape. Watching the boys improve year on year since 2016 has been amazing to watch and to see Co Captain Jack come back from injury and dominate brings a tear to my eyes.

  3. Sorry to hear Philthy. I think I’ll be a bit in between of beyond happiness joy and tears. The old man was a mad Dees man, our last game together was the 2000 grand final before cancer got him in Jan 01. He’s been top of my thoughts the last 4 weeks in particular.

  8. Hey guys i know everyones after a barcode for the gf, i didnt get the grand final guarantee instead bought my daughter a membership too. But i can live with that, that was my choice, i'm hoping that i can get my dad there, he had been a member for decades, priority 1, and only missed the 2000 finals series with his first bout of cancer (I know timing). He got struck down again last year for a third time and it didnt look good, they even gave him a month time line, but the tough son of [censored] is still here, numerous times i invited him to some games this year but he always had an excuse, or said it was to bigger day, it wasn't until our first final that the proud sod told me he couldn't afford his membership this year and after burying mum he just gave up a bit i think. Fellow demonlanders @ding got him there vs the cats which was just amazing and @faultydet also lent me his and our whole family got to go and enjoy it with him. Thankyou guys so much, thats a memory that will stick with us forever. He wouldn't accept a ticket last week because we all couldn't go, but a grand finals a bit different I would love to go with him, but from where I'm sitting i just need to get him there. If i knew he didn't have the money or wasn't buying his membership i would have pulled money together and bought it for him. We didnt even know he was struggling financially, he only expected to last a couple if months and set up his funeral costs and paid off what he could on his property which he wanted kept until the grand kids were 25 to give them something to build from. If anyone has one I'm more then happy to pay the grand final guarantee amount, hell even if you want me to pay a bit extra its worth it. it would feel like i could make up for not picking up what was actually happening and sorting it out at the start of the year. Thanks for taking the time, I'm not usually one for airing personal things on the internet so thankyou to the two posters i mentioned and if anyone isn't using one please keep me in mind. Ill be doing everything i can to get him there.

  9. Hi All, I'm a one eyed docker who will be going to the game on Saturday with my filthy eagles mates. We need to add some more red and blue to the stadium so I'm on the lookout for a Melbourne guernsey I can borrow for the day, will pick it up and drop it off to you in the perth metro area. I'm a mens size L let's raise hell!

  13. I was talking to a mate about the Demons at tennis the other night when one of the opponents butted in and said 'I thought you'd be up at the snow'. When he said he was a Collingwood supporter I asked him if Barwon Prison had let him out on day release to play tennis. He wasn't happy, but I made my point.

  15. I live in Perth and the demon army helped me out with tickets which is great as it is extremely hard to get a ticket here. I can't wait to support the boys this Saturday with my 4 year old son!! GO THE DEMONS!!

  16. The maggots don't need to say anything - just blow the whistle and pay the free. The players (should) know the rules. Just like when there is a ruck contest the maggots prattle on "no holding, no holding" as if the ruck men don't know the rule. Just pay the bloody free! Whilst I am on the subject, they also need to pay some frees (and if it is for us or against us doesn't really matter as long as it evens up eventually) with all this punching, grabbing around the neck, and elbowing even before the game starts .... just pay a free ... no warnings. .... Nike_just do it.

  25. Mail from high profile player manager: Gaff will either stay or go to North. He's getting a lot of pressure from his parents to come home, but is happy to stay. He won't be going to Melbourne for one reason. Melbourne wanted to play him as a predominantly outside hard running wingmen and he wants to play as an inside mid. He won't be coming to Melbourne.

  26. Just on the Eagles supporter noise... The more I think about it the less I'm worried about the 'hostile environment' with this team. The noise is deafening in that stadium and the booing is so completely over the top - that's for certain. But we've withstood that for two years running now and pulled away with two wins under immense pressure. This variable is now small and maybe insignificant for much of the team and coaches and I reckon the media need to realise this as well.

  27. Several people yesterday were interested in the breakdown so I've extracted the summary showing 2017 Actual vs the AFL Standard Range: Yesterday, I estimated: 20,000 MCC members, 20,000 AFL members, 20,000 'AFL Entitlements/Obligations'. These are generally much closer to the mark than the AFL published 'Range', the latter being to allow them to do what they like eg the AFL will never have just 5,000 for its 'Entitlements/Obligations' nor '0' for 18 AFL clubs. Needless to say there isn't a lot of equity in either the allocation nor that it is the Competing Club Members that actually pay full price to attend (even tho their club membership cost is not much less than other AFL/MCC members). But, as they say in the classics: Life wasn't meant to be fair!

  28. Rioli and Ryan average 11 possessions a game, less than 2 tackles and about a goal each. I think we have them covered. Would be more concerned with Kennedy and Darling, but that relies on the midfield battle

  29. I was eight years old and was sitting in the old southern stand with my eleven year old sister. Mum organised and paid for a cousin to take us to the game. Mum and my brother sat in the MCC members using ladies tickets. My brother chose the Dee’s and everyone else jumped on board. I can remember Ray Gabelich “running” into goal with minutes to go to put the Pies in front as it was right under our seats. Then tears from a young boy that turned in to tears of joy when Ray “froggy” Crompton goaled for us in the dying seconds to win the game. We all still follow the Dee’s, Mum is 92. She raised 3 kids on her own after my useless womanising father left us When I was two. Thanks mum for saving and buying the tickets. Finances were always a struggle. Fingers crossed for another premiership VERY soon!

  31. When Melksham kicked his second I started booking flights, only looked up again to see Spargo's goal and then for the siren. Felt a bit gloomy at missing out on the last couple of minutes, then I saw how much flights were an hour later and realised I'd done the right thing.

  33. Back in the 90's - can't remember exactly when - we beat the Pies at the 'G by 8 points. As I was leaving the ground, there were a bunch of drunk filth thugs giving it a bloke driving out of the car park in a Range Rover. It wasn't until one them pulled rest up and said "Ang on, ave a look at the sticker on 'is car", It was a Collingwood sticker. Absolute gold it was at the time.

  35. I think we'll try Hannan on him again. As they said on the commentary the last time around, McGovern doesn't like being turned back, nor does any defender. But you get can him with pace out the back. Hannan is a great decoy too, because he's not as important to our connection as Melksham, but we may need to use Jake on occasion too. Likewise, if the Eagles try to get the McGovern/Weideman match up, then Weideman needs to drag him up the ground to leave space in behind. If Tommy can get Barrass and beat him, I reckon we're a shot.

  39. The oldies will remember the bloke who used to run out onto the ground. in the finals, before the game, and plant a Demons flag in the turf. Around the half forward flank Gt S stand. He would get a huge cheer. Also I can't forget the bloke in the Melb cheer squad who carried into the ground a big hand bell..like a school bell. When it rang out we would all smile. I would go to the games ready to play fully kitted out in my Demons jumper shorts (Home or away) and boots. There were other kids as well and we had the freedom to run around anywhere. There police were on the field but they let us go....kids were allowed to run around then pretty much anywhere. I would go down the race and into the rooms and run out with the team. It was a different time. Two grounds I would take my jumper off to enter and put it on when I was over the fence and on the ground. Widy hill and Vic park....dangerous territory for little demons. I would often turn up in the long room in the mcc because I could get under or over every fence in the G. I would stare at all the trophies...once I came across the room with all the Premiership cups in a big trophy case....it was like I had reached heaven! The MCC bloke would eventually chuck me out Ha!

  41. Hahaha thank you all for the help! DanielE288 has got me sorted ? I was a rent a pie last week thanks to a work colleague This week I'm a rent a dee ? But must say I have a definite soft spot for your mob unlike collingwood ? You guys clearly don't need hogan so please feel free to send him home to freo ASAP ? Question I have for you guys is, do Victorians hate the eagles? I obviously can't stand them... they are a bunch of chardonnay sipping arrogant wankers... But I'm wondering if you guys hate them over in the east and why? Was having this discussion with my feral eagle mates and we couldn't decide if the whole competition hates west coast or if it's mainly just Freo fans?

  42. They will take 2 emergencies to Perth, but they'll fly back Saturday afternoon to be able to play in this game. King won't play (hasn't played all finals series and it seems his time is up) and there's a good chance McKenna will get up, so 12 listed. Last time we played the Hawks we had 8 listed vs their 20 listed and held strong until half-time when they ran away in the second, so even with a few Hawks players back we are in a better state then last time we played them. It's gonna be a tough game but definitely winnable.

  43. So we bought our tickets to the game as soon as we could, determined to buy flights only 8f they put on cheaper flights. But, as is always the way when it comes to the MFC, my old man, my sister and I, bit the bullet and splashed close to $800+ each. We will be there and I hope my loudness can compete with the 50,000-odd feral out of work miners.
