  1. Had trouble getting s signal today, so had to wait till I got home. Casey 12 15 87 to Box Hill 4 8 32 Melbourne listed players participating were :- Frost - Solid in defence and in the air. Would love to see him in our best 22, but cannot see whose place he would take. Provides really good run and carry from defence. Jetta - Solid as usual, as we would expect. Provides plenty of attacking opportunities and blankets his opposition. Harmes - Played really well. Took some great marks and kicked at least one goal. Provided plenty of run. Tyson - Played a really good link up role and set up several attacking opportunities. Ready for round one. Tim Smith - Improved as the game went on and was more involved in the game than last week. Starting to find some form. Still a way off though. Garlett - Limited opportunities, but will be better for the run. Even spent some time in the midfield with Jetta. Kent - Played well, but missed out on kicking multiple goals. Using his body well in contests and starting to see his speed. Joel Smith - Did some good things in defence, but didn't see a great deal of him. Looking forward to him getting some more game time and recapturing the early season form he showed last year. Weideman - Kicked 2 goals and took some good marks. Had quite a bit of game time on the ball and I was impressed with his tap work. Competed well. Number 68 (for Whispering Jack) was Kieran Byers - a 203 com 20 or 21 years of age. I saw a team sheet that someone had and had to look him up. Really impressed me with his ruck work and follow up and uses his body quite well for one so young. One to watch I would have thought. None of our young players played today - Spargo, Balic, Petty. King, Filopovic, Keilty (injured ribs), JKH, Baker or Johnstone. Casey Demons dominated the game today in hot conditions.

  2. 170 plus games played. Over 700 games coached. Premiership player. Premiership coach 3 times. All Australian coach. Knows nix compared to Demonland’s finest.

  3. A good hit out for the boys. I was surprised by the small attendance, saw probably more Box Hill supporters than Melbourne/Casey. The wind was a big factor today and turned it into a tough and scrambly contest. Casey proved too good at clearing away from these clinches and never looked like being beaten. They scored a lot of behinds though.. It would have been a hard day at the office for the forwards and none of them really shone. Harmes showed he is now well and truly a class above at this level and Tyson got his share of possessions but, gee, he is a turnover king. I would have loved a dollar for every turnover, would have paid my petrol back to Box Hill. Jetta and Frost were fantastic down back, Jeffy always thereabouts, Kent was bullocking and won a lot of the ball, Joel Smith was good, King was a good ruckman, though I'd like to see him take a few grabs, and Weidemann did his best work in the ruck. Tim Smith looks a long way off the pace. The egg and bacon roll was A1.

  4. Harmes, Tyson, Jetta all playing and are dominating. Casey have 3 players on the bench who haven't come on so I am expecting some players won't play the second half. About 10 or so listed players playing.

  8. Looks like we've poured all our social media resources into the Women's match today. It's pretty poor that we couldn't even send the work experience kid down there with his iphone and the twitter password.

  9. PETER JACKSON VFL 2018 - PRACTICE MATCH CASEY DEMONS v BOX HILL HAWKS Casey Fields Saturday 17th March, 2018 at 12.00pm I’m a long way from the City of Casey and it’s hard to find out any news from home but it looks as though there are going to be a few Demons taking the field in today’s VFL practice match at Casey Fields (clubs need to get special permission to enable those who have had interrupted pre seasons to play this weekend). Star Dees to make R1 bid in VFL hit-out “A HOST of Melbourne players will be looking to confirm their selection in round one when they run out for VFL affiliate Casey Demons in a practice match against Box Hill at Casey Fields on Saturday. The Demons have decided to take the opportunity to get valuable game time into Jeff Garlett, Neville Jetta, Dom Tyson, James Harmes and Dean Kent after interrupted pre-season programs due to injury.” Others who have been in rehab and who will play are Sam Weideman (ankle surgery) and Joel Smith (broken leg). However, Jack Viney who was at one stage expected to play in this game, has been ruled out. I look forward to reports from those who can make it down to Casey Fields.

  10. That is a good article. He is right about all those factors. A club that won games in Adelaide and Perth last year should have made the finals, there is no getting away from that. The whole club must toughen up

  11. You mean he has had digestive issues as well as his ankles, gee has had a tough run

  12. Pathetic that not Casey or the Dees website haven't even bothered to advertise this match on either website on starting times and match updates. Shows how light years away we are from competing with the best in terms of off field communication.

  13. Casey Dominating play but didn't make the most of the wind in the first qtr but a flurry goals late in the second qtr as well as a goal on the siren means Casey actually won the second qtr into the breeze. Wind is very strong which is affecting the quality of the game.

  17. Meh, I reckon we lost as many games from fear of failure and not taking the game on as we did from overconfidence. Not to mention the fatigue factor with a lot of young players getting tired, some older guys slowing down and a lot of players returning from injuries. I hope we've built physical and mental resilience. That would be my focus, not some outdated concept of drinking your own bathwater.

  18. Excellent effort, those who provided update information. Very much appreciated. Somewhere there is a lesson for the Club in this. Why not take advantage of this online world?

  26. Heartbreaking. I called it a few weeks back but I always hoped we could steal it. The weaknesses we've had all season were the reason we lost tonight. Can't fault our effort though. No one can say we didn't put up a fight. One day they'll stop using the AFLW to 'develop' umpires but for now, it's just part of the evolution of the competition. Still hurts though and makes a mockery of the players' efforts. Thanks everyone, by the way, for the discussion here this season. It's nice to have a place to talk constructively (mostly!) about AFLW with other Demons.

  29. Mick Stinear time to go. Game plan stinks, big time. Nobody ever runs in support past a pack to receive a releasing handball, it's just handball round in circles circa Neeld era. Dogs deserved to win every day of the week despite those two dodgy frees straight in front. Newman kicks the goal and we win that. We have a new Jordie McKenzie. Daisy and O'Dea make Brock McLean look like Usain Bolt. What a wasted season.

  37. It was additional members we were speaking of. Have a look at the Essendon increase as an example of what a finals performance can do.

  40. Read it and I think it’s quite a sensible article. Looks at the story in good detail and takes a swipe at the obvious reactions like frawleys but he wasn’t Robinson Caruso. Call her what you will but she is an investigative journalist who actually still, you know, investigates. A rare breed these days

  42. Alizee now out to 18.00 (enhanced) in the Coolmore Classic ... that's overs. A beaten favourite last start finishing 6th but only 1.8 lengths off the winner (Shoals) I've included it in a trifecta as a possible winner ... good/class horses always deserve a 2nd chance. 46. I will contain my outrage until I hear it. According to someone who heard the ‘Toiges’ re-done song, it’s still the Fable Singers and just appears to be refreshed, possibly to make it sound better over the loud speakers.
