  1. I'm taking my son to his first ever game today, and it will be the first time 3 generations in my family have watched the demons since my grandfathers passing in 1996. This will be a memorable moment for me as a father to continue the family tradition of being a Demons man. I have faith the dees will get it done today. I hope to look back on this day and enjoy the memory of teaching my son how to sing a grand ol flag. Carn the f'ing demons!

  2. Also, Gus Brayshaw showed today not only what a quality player he is but how important he can be to our football side in the coming years. Wonderful game and almost brought a tear to the eye to see him out there.

  3. Well everyone... we did it. We made hard work of it and we would all have been as nervous as we have been all year. But we did it. We responded to a fortnight of very poor football and have kept ourselves in the frame. I'm super proud of the club. When the pressure was on we stood up to be counted and won - we are now back in the eight and in there with a huge chance of breaking the finals drought. I'm emotionally and mentally exhausted, but gee was it worth it! DEMONS!

  4. Didn't watch Port Adelaide get done by 85 points in the wet last week, or Freo flogged by 100 points yesterday? Saints didn't handle the pressure, but thats because we brought it. I can't handle the negativity around here at the moment. It's pathetic (and boring).

  5. Imagine your season being sunk by Hannan and Harmes.

  6. I can't believe the negativity on here. For the first 10 minutes our skills were off but so were theirs - big game, pressure, understandable. We clicked early and our pressure kept them out of it. We did what good sides do and put on early scoreboard pressure. They got a ridiculous ride from the umpires in the third which brought them back into it (the frees for Longer against Gawn were inexplicable). But we steadied, like good sides do, and pulled away late. Brayshaw was incredible for his first game back. Looked so settled. Lewis' best game this year IMO, contested ball was his strength. Oliver and Jones kept us level at the clearances and the back six (especially OMac and Hibberd) were terrific again. Garlett copped Geary and struggled to shake him and Petracca is woefully out of form, but that just shows we have room for improvement. Such a critical win for us. We're not there yet but we are so much closer.

  8. I honestly don't understand why we are pointing out negatives today. I don't care than Hannan had 5 kicks for the day, 2 of them were clutch, end of story. We had negativity all week on here and most asked for a response, well we got that today. Did some of you expect St Kilda to go home at half time? They needed to show something and they came at us hard in the 3rd and credit to them. My heart stopped beating when they closed within 4 points but there were some massive moments from our boys to restore momentum. Oscar and Lewis going hard at the contest in our back pocket in the last is what we have asked for this week and that was a prime example of putting the body on the line. Some asked for leadership and we got it from Jones today. If you want to play in finals this is how you need to play to win when teams challenge you. Very proud today and looking forward to the replay!!

  9. Rather surprised to see that no one has mentioned the fact that with this win we have surpassed our 10 wins last season. We have officially improved.

  11. Not often I get to attend but was there today and mightily impressed with our composure in what was a mini-final. Whilst being at the game is undeniably better than watching on TV, it's not good for the heart AT ALL. I felt physically ill at three quarter time. And the umpiring was [censored] atrocious in the third quarter, Razor Ray seeing things from 100m away the rest of us can't?!? I honestly don't understand people who come on here and only point to negatives after a performance like that. Were the last two weeks of misery not enough? Each to their own but... My main positives: - Brayshaw. Brayshaw. Brayshaw. To play like that any week would have been a breakout. To play like that in your return game is downright inspirational. Perfect game. - Hunt, a heck of a player when he lowers his eyes. He'll never have the ball spinning perfectly like Salem or Watts but his DECISION MAKING today was elite. - Pedersen, playing like a pro. - Harmes in the first quarter, Hannan in the last. - Jones and Oliver dominating at the coal face. - Melksham the super boot. What a trade! - Jordan Lewis dominating the last quarter when we needed our leaders to stand up. I [censored] hate the Saints. Their culture, their fans, their players. Even their coach bores me to death every Monday. To end their season and be 2-0 this year after a decade of misery is immensely satisfying.

  12. I was a big fan of his recruitment. Thought he was a bargain. Hibberd too. I was right. I'm Ron Burgundy. Stay classy Demonland.

  16. Special memory for me. It was capped off by 2 year old yelling "rahh" every time Harmes touched the ball. He thought his name was rahh because the crowd roared every time he kicked a goal in the first.

  17. Usually I would blast my 9 year old son when he uses inappropriate language but I couldn't help but laugh when Chamberlain plucked a free from the moon for the Saints and my son yelled out " look dad, it's the midget pr*ck again."

  18. Harmes may be coming of age. Had my doubts but all his AFL attributes were on show today. Yet to turn 22. Pedo tends to get the boot after one average game. He deserves greater leniency because the average games are few and far between. If we do make finals, I want him in the side. Gus was the story of the day. He's gonna be a star. Nothing surer.

  20. Michael Long nearly killed Snake and Wallis put Green in hospital with a busted larynx. I thought Snake was dead and I was only 20 metres from it. I wanted to jump the fence and king hit Long. It was one of the most disgusting things I have seen in football. Don't compare that with Bugg's stupid hit.

  22. 20,000 free Welcome tickets to many people from diverse cultures, many new to the game, on a sunny Sunday arvo at the home of football. And the Demons win. Great marketing which hopefully converts a few to Aussie Rules & just as importantly to the MFC.

  24. I was in the Olympic stand today and there were loads of people and families from all cultures obviously at their first game. There was a group of young students in front of me and my mate. As we got fired up and barracked hard, they were turning around with excited bemusement and really getting into it! Great to see!

  26. I would hope we make the point of asking the head umpire to take us through the new rule that affects the ruck contest that says "If the player is Gawn, then the opposition ruckman shall receive free kick for no obvious reason" it was a disgraceful display of umpiring in that regard today and it was obvious Gawn held back on even contesting ruck for fear of giving away a free.

  28. Maxy gave the umps a little whack after the game, according to fox footy. Said he gave away free kicks he's never given away in his life, and that they kept blowing the whistle and he didn't know why

  30. Utter rubbish. Pressure match and some great passages of play as well as mistakes (brought about through aggressive ball movement). Aints came back at us and we stood up.

  31. We finally stood up when it counted. Huge win, and with games to come vs Brisbane and Collingwood, missing finals would be a disaster. Angus Brayshaw, what a return.

  33. Uh, no. Max v Longer has happened once, when Longer was at Brisbane. You may be thinking of Hickey, who beat Max twice in a row. Then Max destroyed his soul in round 1 and he hasn't been seen since.

  34. Shame on you negative supporters. The game is about desire, tenacity and drive to overcome adversity. The Mighty Dees did all of that better than their opponents today.

  36. You are giving Hannan a "nope"??? Well that tells me all I need to know. Not only did he ice the game with 2 fantastic goals, but he was part of a much more even application of pressure that we were able to apply today. And make no mistake, that is more important in modern footy than a couple of extra touches.

  39. Well I've been critical of our leaders and older players all year. Jones was superb. Pederson was fantastic. Lewis and Hibberd did everything they could - including some fantastic body on the line efforts in the last. Well done lads. Makes me proud to be a Demons supporter.

  49. From the VFL website- CASEY DEMONS Goal Kickers: B. Fritsch 4, Y. Zijai 3, B. Kennedy 3, L. Hulett, C. Salem, E. Morris, A. Ferreira, C. Porter, J. Kennedy-Harris, J. Watts Best Players: D. Keilty, B. Kennedy, J. Trengove, C. Salem, B. Stretch, Y. Zijai Was a great day out. I sat next to Sam Frost for half the game in the grandstands, and we had a good chat about him, Dec, and a few of the other boys who were playing (Salem, Kenno, Watts) Was pretty awesome. Keilty is in AFL form, his last 2 months have been sensational. Last week and today were the 2 best game's I've ever seen him play. Being in the business end of the season, I doubt he'll get a debut, but keep an eye on him over preseason, and he might just become a great player for the Melbourne Footy Club.
