  1. Regardless of the outcome, the bloke is a deadset squealer: Gerard Healy: 'A very sensitive 50-year old who abused an 18 year old, didn't like what came back and sooked to the authorities'

  4. You can see at the very end after ANB took the mark that Lewis started talking to him almost straight away, telling him what to do. ANB then went from watching the clock to looking out the corner of his eye to make sure Lewis was still in space. The percentage move for Demons of old would be to go for the goal. Obvious risk is that if they missed, they then give the opposition 30 seconds to get up the other end for a goal. Percentage move now is what Lewis orchestrated last night. Remove all doubt, and guarantee victory. Thats experience, and you can't teach that. #lewisfan

  5. I stated my view early in this thread but I'll now refine it a little. First. I've got no problem with a supporter giving it to an opposition player. Footy is a sport that titillates the emotions. To be honest I've demonstrated my vitriolic best toward both oppo players and umpires over the years. Second. I've certainly got no problem with the player giving a bit back. However, in life you must learn that it if you're prepared to dish it out be ready to cop it back. And this it what shits me about this issue. We now have a situation where a fat useless [censored] gets an apology and is made some sort of a victim/hero among his equally useless pizzant mates because he hasn't got the balls to take his whack. What a weak [censored]. [censored] me, how does someone like that look his spineless self in the mirror. Society is just becoming soft.

  7. You must be joking. The club has done 2 things right - again.. 1. Got it off the back page in 24 hours - you won't read about it after a small article tomorrow reporting the apology - PR Rule No.1 . Any other action would give the story legs. 2. Then - they wheeled out the best team member to handle todays' presser - Jordan Lewis, who put it all in context, and again hammered the " culture" issue as laughable in a contemptible manner. And why was he the best you asked? - because no-one doubts a 4 time premiership player on what successful culture looks like. Great media management today, we won the 4 points and Clarry will live to fight another day in Darwin and get 3 Brownlow votes next week, and conversely to what the Blues banner said about us........ They can book THEIR September trip to Noosa instead of me. I'll have commitments at the ' G ' .

  10. Yet again a Melbourne player is the put into a situation were they are the victim but suddenly are the villain. Oliver was struck by Schofield but was labelled a diver and Schofield was allowed to walk with not even a fine. Now Oliver is verbally confronted by a person that should not be allowed to attend a match but now Ollie is at fault for standing up for himself. Enough is enough. It is time the club comes out on the front foot and demand that action ins taken against this so called supporter. What is wrong with Carlton supporters. The language used in regards to Lewis was disgraceful and that was in the MCC section. It was fitting that the final act that destroyed Carlton was orchestrated by Lewis himself.

  12. Sometimes players turn out better than players taken before them in the draft. Sometimes players take longer to develop than others. It's a freakin' lottery. You're purchasing a 10% complete product. This is a seriously tedious topic. I honestly thought Melbourne supporters would be sick of beating ourselves up over who was selected where, but it would seem our self flagellation knows no bounds.

  15. When ANB passed the ball off to Jordan Lewis to run out the clock, that was the exact moment I knew we had arrived as a team. That was some real maturity from ANB, and so smart from Lewis. Both of them deserve a massive pat on the back. In fact, I got shivers down my spine as it unfolded. A year ago, ANB would have had a shot , missed, and Carlton would have run it down for a goal.

  16. Hogan had a direct hand in 2 goals (T-Mac and Melksham's winner). Kicked one himself and missed an early sitter. Our run on in the second was when he was shifted into the middle when they stopped clearing the ball at will. When T-Mac was hot in the third he played wide and high to not allow double teaming. That's a fair role contribution for someone who has hardly played this year.

  17. AFLPA what are you doing to earn your money today? A player got touched by a fan and reacted angrily, and you are saying what? What a joke of an organisation.

  20. Geez if Cripps has a real fracture I can't wait to read the medical report. During the second quarter Cripps was deliberately and savagely attacked by Melbourne's Jayden Hunt. As a result Patrick is currently deceased. Slight chance of playing next week.

  21. Just remembering now...the AFL take action against a young girl who abuses Adam Goodes. They take action against a Port supporter who abuses Eddie Betts. But in this instance, Clearance, is counselled and told to apologise after being abused. From a regulatory position, there seems to be a whole lot of inconsistency, so I guess if the fish rots from the head, no wonder the MRP etc etc etc etc

  22. First time (in a long time) - so long ago my account's been deleted! I was sitting directly above the incident and the imbecile tapped Clarry's chest at least three times. How that's 'incidental' is anyone's guess...

  23. Wants an apology?! For leaning over the fence and hurling abuse at a player? If he touched him as well then that's a $5000 fine at the MCG. If you dish it out, be prepared to take it.How in the [censored] is this guy demanding an apology? He should be fined $5000 and have his membership revoked! What a cretinous [censored]. Loved watching Clarry rip them anew one again yesterday. Cop it sweet Blues. That's twice in one season. Fact is you are losers. The Demons are winners and marching to finals!

  26. Just watched the replay again. Jetta had 4-5 incredible efforts in the last quarter. Frosty was almost as good. Umpire 22 gave 2 of the softest frees of I've ever seen to keep Carlton in the game. ANB was very strong in the last quarter. But the absolute highlight was BT waffling on as ANB lined up saying 'don't work about the clock, just kicked the goal'. ANB passes the ball off BECAUSE of the clock and seals the win. Classic example of out of touch channel 7 rubbish.

  28. Today he put forward his case for forward line permanency. He is as good a contested mark as anyone in our side, and he's become a very reliable set shot for goal for someone whose field kicking looked not too dissimilar to my 5 year old's ball drop at Friday evening AusKick. He made the comment with Burgs post-match that simplifying his technique has been the main focus of his work (with Troy Chaplin) and getting everything straight is the key. His last four games have netted 2, 5, 2 and now 4 goals. Cam Pedersen, who gets a lot of love on this forum, and has been outstanding in key moments this year, has never kicked any more than 3, in a 70 match career predominantly as a forward. This is not intended to be a knock on Pedersen, just a matter of context. Players don't kick 4 or 5 goals often and McDonald has now done that twice in three weeks. Simon Goodwin had this to say when asked post-match against Carlton: "He looks likely to [stay forward], if he keeps marking the ball and kicking straight. They're hard to come by. He's done it again Tom, I think every time the ball comes in his area, he looks likely. He's looked likely since the time we put him down there, but now he's starting to turn that in to goals. In current form, he'll definitely stay down there. In some ways it was an experiment, but then we did some training with a couple of marking exercises. Our coaches are very good at developing some exercises for them to do their contested marking, and he just kept marking the ball." I read with interest @binmanand @ProDee's discussion on this during the week. I took the view (with no conviction) that this was temporary and treated the 5 goals against West Coast as something of a novelty, but his form down there is getting increasingly difficult to ignore. He wouldn't be the key defender in our history to go on to have an outstanding career as a forward, initially out of necessity. Interested in others' thoughts.

  29. Just watched Goodwin's press conference where he was asked about the culture issue. The next 2 1/2 minutes are worth bottling and a must view. It was as if he just wanted the question and his opportunity to then theorise about what makes a good cultutre and what he and the club are doing about it. Coach of the year material and we're lucky to have him. Its as if he was sending the players the message, but just via the presser. And how in tune the leadership group is with him. Well done Simon.

  30. I still getting over not drafting Chris Grant 1988, I'll work my way up to being worried about Weideman when he's been playing for more than 18 months. Just out of curiosity, did you wait for Curnow to play a good match before writing this thread or is it something you've always believed? You draft players according to who you believe will be the better player over the course of their careers. The alternative is a team full of Rhys Palmer, Daniel Rich, Cale Morton, Mitch Robinson, Jordan Gysberts.

  43. If Oliver said something racist, sexist or homophobic, I'd be concerned. Otherwise, that Carlton fan can take his cowardice and f**k right off. If you're going to sit front row and sledge 19-year-old opposition players, don't cry when you cop something back your way. Seriously, a storm in a teacup (subject to my first sentence above, but there's no evidence of that being an issue I don't think).

  44. Dislikes Umpire 22 was a disgrace. The free in the 1st qtr against ANB 100m away from the action should see him thrown out but the rest of the game degenerated and he was the most biased umpire I have ever seen. Even more than that goose Nicholls. Tackling was generally poor today. Carlton's switch. The did this relentlessley and it took us way too long to stop. Talk. Multiple occasions where our players didn't talk to each other and ended up spoiling each other Carlton's faux toughness. It was clear they wanted to niggle us knowing that we were unlikely to retaliate. Their treatment of Lewis was pathetic. Clarry stood up for him all day. The umps ignored it. Disgraceful. Our mids were hung onto all day. Kent. Really poor game. Constantly misses ground balls makes ineffective tackles and is a poor kick. I am done with him. Carlton's fans. What a pathetic bunch of whingers they are. Likes Jetta. Aside from the mentions already on here he did one spoil on Casboult that saved a goal. Levi is very difficulyt to stop but Nev did it. ANB played a good game and has a great tank. Oliver. What a gun. The smarts and great individual efforts in the last quarter. TMac. Has reinvented himself. Tremendous credit to him.
