I thought Tyson was much improved today, made a couple of mistakes but 24 touches, 6 tackles and 2 goals is getting back towards his best footy27 points

One of the funniest moments of my life in the last quarter when my 7 year old son runs in and yells at the TV..... "Eat a bag of d--ks Howey!"22 points

Bugg had 29 touches and 9 tackles today. Zero chance of being dropped. Same goes for Tyson and Lumumba. You guys are crazy.19 points

Wagner and hunt are so composed under pressure. Hunt definitely showed why he's been persisted with. Does jack viney remind anyone else of Ben cousins? Gut runs and gets to so many contests, is hard at it and has really cleaned up his disposal. Really like our defence without garland. Big shout out to pederson and frost, maybe the stats won't show it but I thought they were very impressive today with their competing and efforts. Pedersons run and effort on the stroke of 3/4 time was terrific19 points

My biggest concerns at selection: Hunt and Wagner both in, and Pedersen and Frost both in. LOL Glad I added the caveat of "I assume they know what they're doing"!18 points

Whoever mentions Lumumba as an out should be banned from here. This run and carry game style is suiting H and now starting to get back to his best football he played at the pies. He is not the only one who makes mistakes but he is so vital in getting the ball moving forward as quickly as possible.17 points

I'm gonna throw it out there, and yes he made his share of mistakes, but that would have to be Frosts best MFC game yet. He's just starting to find his feet and I think he'll only get better. It's easy to forget just how much footy he missed last year. The signs are good16 points

I find it interesting that the leadership is coming from Watts,Jones,Gawn and Jetta . The have been through lots of trials for this club but the club has given them chances as well. When I picture Garland I see the damage Roos speaks of. The kids have no fear either. Yet I am more impressed by these Four who have shown tremendous faith and resilience and improved themselves steadily.14 points

Go you Mighty Demons. 2-2 ( so easily could have been 4-0 but that's life) Beers and a swim beckon...14 points

The effort was superb . The scoreline flattered Collingwood. If Garlett was around to add polish it would have been a good old fashioned flogging.14 points

It wasn't that long ago that one Max Gawn was in and out of the side, lacked confidence and had butter sticks for fingers. Last year a switch finally flicked during the Geelong game and he's clunked them ever since. I sincerely believe that Frost's hands will get stickier, and his kicks will get straighter as his confidence improves. There was already a notable improvement between the first half and the second half today. He's got all the required attributes, he just hasn't been able to stitch it all together yet - purely due to confidence I think.13 points

There's plenty to say about the game today. Best game of their career for Frost, Bugg, Wagner and Hunt. Admittedly for Hunt and Wagner that's not such a stretch, but true nonetheless. If Frost had given the return handball instead of U-Turning and getting nailed in a tackle Watts would have equaled last year's goal tally in round 4. As it is we'll have to wait another week. By this of course I mean that Watts is in great form and we're loving it. In the same vein, how good is the chemistry right now between our tall forwards? Watts 17 disposals 8 marks and 4 goals 1, Hogan 18 disposals 9 marks 2 goals 2, Frost 19 disposals (!!!) 5 marks 1 goal 2 and Pedersen 20 disposals 5 marks 2 goals. That is massive. Hogan is loving the freedom of playing CHF while the others rotate through FF and it must be hell on the defence to try to match up when they are constantly switching around through FF, CHF and wing the way they did today. I am so happy with the look of Wagner and Hunt as the two rebounding HBFs. They are still very raw and need a lot of polish, but the signs are very good. If Hunt improves in his second game as much as Wagner did then he'll look great next week. It's easy to focus on the big improvers, but I have to mention the efforts of the usual suspects as well. Viney is leading the way on field. Jones was the workhorse we expect him to be, Tyson is getting his mojo back, the great wall of Dunn, Jetta and TMac were as strong as ever and Gawn is backing up his talk in the pre-season and making a big claim to being one of the best rucks in the league. Also a big thumbs up to Lamumba. I think it's pretty clear that the coaches sat him down after round 2 and told him the long bomb was no longer going to be part of his game. Last week you could see him setting up for it and then changing his mind and actually hitting targets. This week he did it better, was more fluid and all of a sudden his disposal is becoming really damaging. If he keeps this up he's going to give the B&F a very good shake. Wow. That was just a really complete team performance. If we play like that every week we'll go really close to playing finals.12 points

I am feeling strange in 2016. In spite of the poor game against Essendrug and the near miss last week I now expect to win games. Very strange feeling after the last decade. Please don't anyone wake me up.12 points

We beat the Filth in a game they have pumped themselves up for.... and we beat them convincingly. Now read tomorrows papers and see how Colonwood are "in crisis", and MFC barely rate a mention.12 points

How much wizardry will Hogan have to do up the field for Leigh Matthew to wake up and realise he's not an 'old school full forward'?12 points

Great team performance. No passengers, no clear best player and no major failures. Hunt and Wagner stood out and showed all of us who queried their joint selection were wrong to do so. Frost played his best game; still makes a lot of errors and fumbles too much but keep improving and he holds his spot. Hogan and Watts are now working together as leading forwards. They lead away from each other, they make space for one another (Hogan's remembered how to run after the Essendon shocker). The whole team is developing chemistry but those two especially. Loved Kent's game. The past fortnight has been a great response to his pathetic display vs Essendon. I've never seen him run as fast as he did today, he got on his bike defensively to do the role Garlett would normally do. I loved it. Really great game from him. Thought Dunn, McDonald, Jetta and Lumumba were a great defensive unit too. Lumumba is so much more useful when he lowers his eyes. Jetta destroyed Fasolo, Dunn destroyed Cloke (that doesn't take much in 2016, it seems). Shout out to Pedersen too. 20 possessions, all over the ground, solid hands, and he ran himself into the ground. We now have four key forwards (Hogan, Watts, Frost, Pedersen) who are willing to run all day, lead up and down the ground, chase, tackle etc. Throw Garlett, VDB and Petracca into the mix and it's shaping up nicely. Still a few too many fumbles, turnovers, silly mistakes, poor free kicks and lapses in concentration for my liking but that's now 3 out of 4 games with commitment, team work and effort. It's coming together. Need to back it up against Richmond but if we do that the confidence and belief will solidify.10 points

Grossly unfair. Whatever you say about Pedersen, he gives nothing but his absolute best. So underrated on this site and was really good today.10 points

Very [censored] right now. Just wanted to say that normally I'm very circumspect, respectful and cautious but today, in the company of two pies supporters I decided to back my team in with loud, obnoxious, support and the boys didn't let me down. Great day. Go Dees!!!10 points

What i really liked about today was Hogan clearly didn't feel he had to carry the scoring of the team, even with Garlett out, so he got up the ground and made a huge impact around the ground and Watts was dominant deep, some weeks it'll be the other way around and Hogan will get on the end of a few but it's fantastic how well they're working together!10 points

also when Tyson got dumped after kicking a goal (by Toovey?) loved how Viney & co went at the scum, finally standing up for each other. This is a new team.9 points

Tommy Bugg smashed their mids, went in hard as [censored] and made the Pies playrs [censored] themselves Not only will he not get dropped but he deserves a statue out the front of the G' for the demolition job he did on the Filth today Tommy rocks9 points

Firstly, to the Pies fan on level 4 of the Southern Stand who yelled out, "Shut up you losers, you're all losers!" to the Melbourne supporters booing an umpire decision, only for Kent to run on to an errant Pies kick for an easy goal mere seconds later, STICK THAT RIGHT UP YA! Secondly, we *could* have won by 10+ goals plus but the ability to stem Pies' comeback is telling. We played in second gear for the 2nd, third and fourth quarters. Really was the quintessential Roos win circa Sydney 2005. Thirdly, Hogan today demonstrated he is much, much more than a one-trick forward. He is going to be a star CHF. Fourthly, loved Wagner's confidence. Fifthly, McDonald needs to add some attacking flair to his game. I liked him today and he is reliable enough in patches but he is unreliable with the ball. Sixthly, Our forward pressure is something I don't think I've seen since 2000. Garlett in that side and we win by 10 goals, easily. Seventhly.. YOU BLOODY BEAUTYYYY9 points

Wow did i enjoy that game. All 22 players just played their role and did the job. Kudos to Hunt and Wagner who i was pretty nervous before the game. But they both showed that they do not look out of place today. Also Pedo and Frost too. While Frost was bit clumsy i thought the fact he played more of a high half forward role suited him better.9 points

Looking back, Stefan Martin is still the only player I'm sorry to have lost in the last 10 years. He was also the only one I didn't want to lose at the time. But we shouldn't hate on Howe for leaving us. He grew up a Collingwood supporter for crissakes. Let him rot with his own kind.9 points

Nothing more satisfying than beating that mob, singing our song and watching the long faces of their players and coach as they trudge off. I'm currently enjoying healthy glass of the sponsors delightful red. Always a good drop, but superb tonight!9 points

Plenty to like about today. Loved the 4 goals from Watts, and that was the standout. He kicked 3 crucial goals when the game was up for grabs which was brilliant.9 points

Tell us again Howe good their young list is Jeremy? At least he can hold his head up high, took his one mark. great effort by the club today. Neighbours must have been close to calling the cops today. My 6 yo daughter got upset at me for shouting to hit and hurt people today...9 points

Thought it was a terrific team performance today, but there were some really important individual efforts as well. Viney and Gawn in the middle (they are becoming A grade) and Watts up forward. Bugg's disposal is messy and I'd say even poor, but his attack on the footy is usually first class. It's also the best I've seen our zonal defence work. We still made some mistakes back there, so definitely some stuff to work on, but we had a couple of young blokes back there. Hunt's debut was exciting and Wagner built on his solid first week to play an excellent game today. It was also interesting to see Kent spend some more time in the midfield this week. He still makes some silly mistakes, but if he continues to build, I'll happily ingest that humble pie come the end of the year. Competition for spots is certainly heating up. Let's get that TV deal signed and a few more of these performances and Jesse will be signing on the dotted line. Oh and thought Frost played his best game for the club. Not always great to look at, but his pace was really important today. Our press with Kennedy, Kent, Frost, Hogan and even Pedersen was fantastic. We also got our zones right all day. Collingwood didn't work hard enough and they are clearly down on confidence now, but they continually looked up and had no one to kick to when they had ball in hand. That's a credit to our organisation - Watts and Hogan also both showed terrific leadership at points, directing traffic from half back and ensuring their team mates were in the right positions. I want to see us bury Richmond next week, but surely we've now dispelled those posters who say we haven't improved. Essendon was disgusting, but our last two weeks have been terrific. We've been far more consistent within games and that is a clear improvement on previous years.8 points

And guess what we will do again in a few weeks. Does it get any better than beating the Pies twice in the one year?8 points

We hunted in numbers. Were aggressive at the man and with our ball movement. We gave first option. Yes we made mistakes but that's part of playing this style of footy particularly with a young team as we tire late in quarters. Probably the most important thing is that we sensed when momentum was changing and reacted accordingly. Watts was massive and Wagner showed he can seriously play. A game that we can really build our season on.8 points
