[censored] off with this Jack Darling crap already. We weren't the only ones who passed up on him. He is good, but he also has an A grade midfield serving the ball to him on a platter. This stuff is as bad as the ridiculous amount of love given to NicNat every time he farts, despite the fact he can't kick. Howe takes better marks anyway. Enough of feeling sorry for ourselves because we didn't draft every good player ever.14 points

Whats more important to me is that someone smacks Tom Scully. Theres no school like the old school.5 points

If there was no Hun, that person on the street would be Mark Robinson and you would be giving your hard earned to the fat, know-nothing anyway...4 points

yeah do that then actually look at the fixture i really don't know why everyone is so glum at the moment. After the Sydney game I was as low as anyone, but in the last 3 weeks: -have played 3 good/very good sides -in the 12 quarters played we have performed well in 9 of them and miserably in 3 (which is better than 0-12!) -have shown the courage, passion and desire that has been lacking until now given our incredibly soft draw for the remainder I really see no reason at all why we won't smash all the bottom-sides and really take it up to some of the better sides, hopefully pinching a couple of them. I mean FFS we had the flag favourites totally on the ropes for about 45-50 minutes last week, we looked fantastic.4 points

Our picks wont "remain" as 4 and 12 People forget the Bulldogs first rd (after first pick) compo. If the ladder stays as now, and the commies at afl headquarters didnt give any compo picks to anyone else, the picks would be something like this Pick 1 GC Pick 2 GWS Pick 3 Melb (Viney F.S) Pick 4 Melb (compo) Pick 5 Bulldogs Pick 6 Bulldogs (compo) Pick 7 Lions Pick 8 Port Pick 9 Nth Pick 10 Tigers Pick 11 Freo Pick 12 Carlton Pick 13 Melb (mid first round compo) With GWS also activating the pick it has following Adelaides first pick, our second round choice would be pick 25 Lets hope a miracle happens, and we can use 25 for Viney. cant see it happening though.4 points

BREAKING NEWS: Athletic freak of a ruckman taken at #2 in his draft becomes star.3 points
-
Any which way you cut it. Nic Nat is mighty impressive. Its actually worth watching an Eagles game to see him play.3 points
-
A lot of people on Demonland (me included) were NOT hindsight geniuses when they posted their preference for Darling BEFORE the draft They were put down then too by certain "experts"3 points
-
The greatest player ever. LOL! Not even the greatest player of his draft year. FFS, if NicNat was in a Melbourne jumper he'd get abused for his poor skills. And he wouldn't get a touch. Yet when Watts has a great game he needs to "find consistency and is too soft". The disparity between the two in terms of level headed evaluation is a joke. Friggin MFCSS!3 points

If anything his form demonstrates our stupidity in allowing Carlton to lose the Kreuzer Cup game. Had we lost we would have had picks 1 & 2 the following year enabling us to take both Watts and Naitanui.3 points

Having to wade through your inane, uninformed and (wildly) speculative posts in every single thread are why I visit this site less and less.3 points

Nic Nat is an athlete rather than footy player, the good stuff he does is really good, and he has a lot of room for improvement, but he often fades out of games, often doesn't really use the ball well, and his disposal doesn't have much influence. What he does do is win hit outs, 26 a game on average, and he does do that one or two flashy things that people talk about! He is an icing on the top player, rather than a cake mix player, a very nice icing to have, but icing none the less3 points

When I was watching the game (and I confess I didn't watch the whole thing) I felt the Blues were being hard done by but I notice the discrepancy in favour of the Eagles was only two extra free kicks. In our game the discrepancy in favour of the home team was 20 so I don't feel sorry for Carlton at all. I reckon that they will make the eight even if they lose the next two games because the rest of their roster is reasonable and they're a better team than the others fighting for the same place. Needless to say however, I won't be crying any tears of sadness if they miss out. It would be kind of nice to see the Tigers playing in a final after all these years.2 points

Weren't there about 25 players taken before Darling? If so, many got it wrong and he was just the best player at that pick, according to the Eagles. They clearly risked not getting him with the previous 25 selections. You can do this exercise on any good player taken a bit lower in the draft. For example 12 idiots missed Cyril Rioli who went at 13.2 points

its his first ever 4 qtr game and all of a sudden were back to the greatest player ever hype. Hes been put straight into winning side and has had a winning midfield next to him his whole career, Watts is a key player in a team trying to build from below 0.2 points

I wasn't aware we'd 'traded' $cully. Didn't know being compensate for a scumbag walking out on us counted as being involved in a trade. And some people pay good money for the Herald Sun. You might as well give your $1.10 to somebody in the street who actually needs it.2 points

At least we get to watch that goofy top 10 countdown, and actually be interested. I for one, hope we can swing a deal with the franchises, to prevent them bidding on Viney.2 points

I really like Naitanui, love the excitement and interest he generates. The esteem some commentators already hold him in is over the top for what he has achieved so far, but he will go on to be a very good player. Even without 20+ touches he is still a very good tap ruckman, if you compare to say a Jamar who in his AA year only averaged 12 touches and was still regarded as having a great year because of his work in the centre square. Not interested in comparing to Watts and talking about who we should of taken, because as I have said a million times, we need to stop worrying about players we didn't draft and just start worrying about developing the players we have drafted.2 points

Can I just reiterate that we suck because of recruitment/development prior to Nat Jones arriving in 2006 (2005 draft), and not because of the players drafted since then. For those that say "that can't be right rpfc - plenty of teams rely on the players recruited from the 2006 draft and drafts since!" - I will say - please give me those teams. (Even Richmond, who are getting better, have Newman, Deledio, Tuck, Foley, King, Moore, McGuane, Graham, White, Jackson, Miller, and Ivan Maric as players drafted before 2006.) So stop handwringing about recent drafts - you just don't know yet. You can handwring in a few years... Although we all thought Petterd was the only 'nearly ok' player from the 2006 draft and then Frawley and Garland turned into players we never thought they would be...2 points

If you thought "$cully to GWS" was a feisty rumpus, imagine the uproar caused by the "Nikanui back to Perth" saga.2 points

He's a talent no doubt but there is no way we got the wrong player. In time both clubs will win on this deal.2 points

Whatev's man, maybe take up yoga or pilates or something. Howe at 33 was a steal. Jack Darling can lick my left nut.2 points
-
His talents are unquestionable and his game last night was awesome. But in 64 games playing as an on-baller this was only the THIRD TIME IN HIS CAREER he's hit 20 touches. And his kicking is iffy. He could become anything but the hype exceeds his output to date IMO.2 points

WYL- If you think Darling would help us now may I suggest this: We have Clark now. Clark is better than Darling. Are we winning games? What's that? Can't hear you. All I hear is crickets... Think before you talk smack. Everyone passed on Darling and yet you still stick the boots into our recruiting. You still blame us for fudging the Scully pick. I have news for you- if we passed on Scully there would have been heads called for and Demonland would have shitted itself. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. You can't predict the future, but you have no problems blaming us for not. Can I have the lottery results for next powerball please?2 points

Pretty sure I recall Joel Selwood around selection 7 NOT 14 WYL is spot on, we like every other club, stuffed up bigtime not taking Darling. Fact is the kid is a superstar unfolding. Don't even get me started on Natanui- Seriously WTF is the go home factor? Do you honestly think powerhouse clubs like Hawthorn & Collingwood consider that for more than one second? I mean has Buddy charged back to WA? That recruiting era was an Epic Fail.2 points

As im tempted to grind my teeth does it not bear thinking that with the benfit of hindsight we can all be gurus and slice and dice old choices ad nauseum!! We can sit upon hight and turkey shoot galore ant this "stuff up" or that "miss'. Its all so easy later, afterwards , when the detail appears from amongst the mist. For ever 50 supposedly fugged up selections there probably is really only 1 or 2 real ones. All the others were based upon the going market valuations etc of the various players.. Its not a perfect science though clubs are getting better at it. Some more so than others but people are people and kids are kids. Theyre different. They dont all follow some golden path of development,. Some rocket along and come to screeching halts, and fall off the Footy landscape. Some seem to be camouflaged for years before popping up almost unannounced to stardom. In the end its a calculated roll of the dice. Sometimes you make the Pass Line...sometimes you Crap out !! But give me a break from this mindless retro gnashing of braincells . History is only visible when its behind you.1 point

No way. Sorry MM but you're way off here. He's both a superhuman athlete AND a footy player. He's the cakemix, the self-raising flour, the icing and the strawberries ... all rolled into one. He's the flash and the bash, the crash AND the dash. And he's turning into a one-man wrecking crew before our very eyes. He didn't fade out tonight one bit. Looked like he could've gone another hour at full tilt in fact. Did you actually watch the game?1 point

Nik Nat is not a superstar, he has shown more than watts yes, his best is amazingly good, he hasnt shown the consistency required though imo, non at all is game winner on his day but so is Sylvia1 point

Here in the mystical, mysterious world of Demonland the most irrelevant of topics can magically turn into Jack Watts threads! I don't trust this place... *looks left to right suspiciously*1 point

I have a mate who sometimes tries to give me a hard time about Watts (gets harder for him every year/round, thanks Jack). After a while, I realised that it all just stems from Richmond's bad history of drafting - he is desperate for Watts to fail because he wants to feel better about Tambling et. al. I can't see the following chant ever working in practice because it is probably not simple enough but I would love to hear it sung in reply to some bell-end from the grog squad who tries to have a go at Watts: To the tune of "Teddy Bears' Picnic": When you look at Richmond's drafting it is hard to believe your eyes That they took Oakley-Nicholls at 8 with Mitchell Clark there at 9 And Nathan Jones was there at 12 And as for Tambling, bloody hell And last of all, let's not forget Fiooooora1 point

all he seems to care about is getting his hand to touch the ball first in a bounce to get the tap out 'stat' on paper it looks good but in the game it looks horrendous. looks like a training drill sometimes with both ruck man playing for the same team1 point

Yep , well done to LA . Fully deserved victory - they might have been the 15th or 16th best team in the regular season but it never seemed to bother these blokes . Just goes to show what can happen when a team gets hot in the playoffs .1 point
