Make an outlandish prediction for 2026

Featured Replies

With the season about to start, I'm interested in people's views of what's ahead of us. But let's not be boring. I want one outlandish prediction per poster. It could be about an individual, a team (could be ours, but not necessarily), footy media, footy politics or the AFL Commission.

To enable me to stick to the rule of one outlandish prediction, I'll start with a prediction I'll call "round zero" which is that many posters will be unable to stick to just one outlandish prediction.

My one, true outlandish prediction is that wunderkind Sam Darcy will not make the All-Australian squad.

My outlandish prediction is that the AFL commission will make no rule changes between now and round 1, 2027.

The MRO will judge without fear or favour regardless of which team’s player is in question.

I know, LD-vC. You said outlandish, not certifiably nuts.

Round 0 or whatever it is called gets scrapped for next year.

Demons to hit 10th and St Kilda to miss.

Kentfield to kick 35 goals.

Steven King gets coach of the year.

Coleman medal: Tie, J. Van Rooyen & B. Fritsch.

Outsolarsystemish.

Bailey Smith won’t flip the bird at anyone.

Jeffo to kick 5 goals or more in Queens birthday game!

Collingwood to be scheduled to play at Kardinia Park and Launceston in 2027

A poster admits they were wrong on Demonland after a heated debate

Essendon will win a final.

Tried to keep a straight face, but it ain’t happening.

Turner gets an AA call up.

Kozzie top 3 in the brownlow

Dees win more close games than they lose

This I like.

Corollary is that we've gone deep into finals!

Might be waiting a while for that to happen.

Some posters on here will look only to a bright future, and not backwards to endlessly complain about the last decade.

Your inlandish view must be quite <cough> 'modest', BA?

Luuurve it Bombay Evapair!

By the start of next pre-season, Simon Goodwin will be an AFL head coach.

We'll have aliens, a multiverse and GTA6 before we get 1 of those.

AND if I had to put a bet on... I bet we get all of those 3 things first.

Maynard is retrospectively suspended, and we receive a full refund from the AFL, Angus is appointed Head of Commission.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.
