We Owe Pies

Featured Replies

We owe the Pies, as many beltings as there are games against them.

Imo they cost us the 2023 flag with a thug act.

They ended the career of Gus.

They hurt Tracc, which led to a fracture in his relationship with us, ultimately leading to him leaving.

They therefore cost us another Champion of the club.

Yes we owe the Pies and I hope we are responsible enough to repay our debt.

Seems only fair to pay "interest" too 😉

The opposite of love isn't hate, it is indifference.

I look forward to one day being as indifferent about Vomitwood as I currently am about Essendon.

For now, as the old law of exile says, "All citizens are compelled to do them harm according to their ability to do so, whenever they are within the boundaries of the realm."

I'm just glad we've been able to rescue that honourable young Mihocek and give him a chance at a role in our run to the 2028 premiership.

They didn't cost us the flag, we cost ourselves the flag with our ****ty performances against Essendon, GWS, Carlton and Freo during the year.

Yeah, that would have helped, but Brisbane put in some pretty putrid performances this season during the home and away and went on to win the flag again. Like Brisbane, we had a team that was more than compeditive enough and capable of winning big finals to win it again.

That final against those scum, we came back after a shocking first quarter and still nearly won the game after our star and leader (future captain) was taken out by that thug act. That change doesn't happen and history could have been very different.

It's not just the act its self, but Collingwood's lack of humility and contrition in appealing the suspension that is also unforgivable.

No one is guaranteed a flag.

We have only ourselves to blame for 2023. Our obsession with contested ball and complete foregoing of i50s and forward craft cost us another chance.

Collingwood were all over us in the opening minutes of the game before the Maynard hit. I don’t agree that we would’ve won that game if the hit did not occur.

And besides, we had an excuse free loss the next week against Carlton. We weren’t made of the right stuff in 2022 and 2023.

Agree with the notion that they’ve made our life a living hell though.

Reading the tea leaves between the lines I thought the relationship was already on rocky ground the season before when the rumours of Tracc wanting out started to surface. Pure conjecture on my part but this might explain the clubs lucklustre response to his terrible injury.

Still back on topic, I dont like the Pies.

This rivalry isn't what we think it is.

We can go on about sticking it to Maynard and justice for Gus all we want. It hasn't worked and why would it work in future?

There was a brief moment where it felt like there was genuine rivalry again but they have our number now. Whether it is putting us out of finals in 17 or the complete failure in the last round this year. It's like boxing/MMA where we've lost the first two fights and there's no need for a third.

For the immediate future under this new regime, I would suggest focussing inward and getting our house in order. The best revenge is living well.

For starters, some of the guys that were laughing and hugging with said thug are goneski.

Let's see how's the mood on the field next year.

Ia free they seem to be a common factor. But in that finals series we cost ourselves the games with our ability to score due to an inept forward line structure.

Loosing Petty then Melksham leading up to the finals didn’t help the forward set up. I think we had 35 more i50 entries but still lost the game! After that final series, I never understood why Goodwin tolerated for the next 2 seasons, Viney, Oliver & Tracc bombing balls long to nobody in the forward fifty

Collingwood living rent free in our heads.

My thinking exactly.

Far tooooooo much comraderie between foes for my liking in the past.

Have a beer later.. maybe

It's embarrassing how often Goodwin coached sides capitulated against Collingwood, even when we were by far the stronger team.

Hopefully King and his assistants can sort out both the football aspects and the mental aspects of this team.

I don’t want to be lumped into this because I see Collingwood no different to any other team in the competition, but I agree, and this thread proves that.

Anzac Eve against Richmond is our big game.

QB will be the standard pro-forma loss.

The other wins I want are Essendon and North.

Absolutely Mr leg.

Plus they gave us Grundy who was a dud as a fwd.

But they are truly a packet of low life thugs.

Moore looks like he belongs as an extra in a Hitchcock film.

The Daicos lads are academy award candidates.

Maynard needs a muzzle.

The fans need rabies shots and I hope one day soon the umps give us just a fair go against them and the playing field is level for once .

The Carlton loss that cost us a prelim said it all for me in 23. Dump kick by viney with 60 sets on the clock. Didn't dezeve a g f on that performance.

Ii don't hate the pies club per se. It's their moronic crowd that's the problem. Worse when tools like Eddie are in charge.

Will watch their slide next year with satisfaction

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
