Sharp

I think that's the strongest team we can put out on the park if Viney is fit.

The sub role is up for grabs. Sharp does have good assets for the sub role and almost always hits the scoreboard. If Laurie was more trustworthy, I'd have him there.

ame one player the Hawks or Pies have drafted that have the talent of Windsor, Lindsay and Langford, you can't recruit top end mid 20'3 talent without giving up your high draft picks. We chose our path and so far I'm happy with that choice.

Will Day, Josh Weddle, Jai Newcombe, Watson, DaIcos x 2 for starters.

Think we need to give Lever a rest and bring back Tmac. He's either not fit, injured or too out of touch .

The guide dog association has offered to help with next week's game. Training with guide dogs in front of goal. Next week's score to improve and likely to be 7.24

Won't help as we don't know how to hold onto a lead.

(With apologies to the caller to radio about 10 years ago who first used that line when Richmond kept losing)

Like this a lot.

There's certainly an argument for a TMac/Lever swap, but 3 changes might be too much for a team that has generally been performing very well the last 6-7 weeks. But I personally think Lever was brought back too early, and things were stable with TMac.

I know it’s been suggested many times but it’s time Windsor ceases being a small defender.

We can’t know for sure but it appeared as though he was manned up on Butler for much of the day who schooled him with 4 goals. Put your hand up if you thought at the start of the day that Dan Butler was going to kick 4 goals?

He’ll likely spend some time on Bobby Hill this week given the in form McVee will take the in form Elliott. Windsor on Hill doesn’t take my fancy.

Go and watch the Geelong win of last year and you’ll see what position he should be playing.

If we keep this under a 10goal loss it will be a miracle.

Elliot will kick 5, Hill 4 and Daicos boys will have 75 between them.

We will kick 3.12 most likely

I feel the same but last time I thought that was vs Freo so who knows

With Viney unavailable (fractured hand) I'd look at Jai Culley in place of Sharp or Laurie.

His form at Casey has been okay without setting the world on fire

Falls... currently -2c

Might get the Rossi's edged and waxed

Not enough 😉

Correct.

Remember that grand final winning goal that he kicked after the siren?

Talk about a man under pressure!

Pies injuries

De Geoy

Lipinski

McStay

Maynard

McInnes

Schultz

Compared to Viney it’s a long list

Reckon we can get within 6 goals??

Surprised to see Melky not on the injury list. Shoulder looked stuffed

We didn’t pay anything significant for any of these players. They are mostly picked up for depth and to support the young players at Casey.

We’ve used our draft picks for quality kids.

Other clubs have picked up players that help their team, Demons not.

our drafting very good, top 3 in AFL.

Our trading - bottom 3 or 2 in AFL!

Does McVee take Hill or Elliott?

Probably Elliott because he’s in such hot form but Hill would probably be a more suitable option for McVee.

Agree with that, but my point was which players since say Langdon, have we recruited from other clubs, who are regular 23 players.

If you look at Hawks, Pies and Cats for example, they have added good players to their lists.

There are FA’s who you don’t need to spend your draft picks on.

100% correct - nothing more to be added!

A wise soothsayer once said

Dees beat Lions because the Lions were loading

Saints beat Demons because the Demons were loading

Dees will beat the Pies because the Pies will be loading (“Dees will be running on top of the ground and have pressure consistently over 200”)

Ummmm I’m not a believer to this loading cult - just my opinion

If we loaded last week - incredible stupidity!

We didnt.

Some on here just want to find excuses for the sake of finding excuses.

Loading whilst we are sitting out of the 8 after a 0-5 start? Please.. 😅

I've been looking for info on the march to the 'G this year as I intend to join for the first time in a while but I can't find anything about it. Does anyone know if it's still happening?

We play Collingwood then Port in Port, a bye, then Gold coast away and Adelaide away. Oh boy.

I know there's a bye in between, but why are we getting 3 interstate games in a row? That's not fair

Excluding the round 24 game last year where we basically played our Casey side, our last 3 games against the Pies we are:

6.15 to 14.5

7.11 to 9.6

8.18 to 9.8

I can absolutely see a score line like the above happening again. The Pies always force us wide and out pressure us. It will happen again.

We flipped the script against Freo in round 6. Surely we've learnt from previous encounters and try and do whatever we can to get some corridor shots on goal?

Look at the score lines its gonna be tough again. Get some goal kicking coaching please

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
