But gees I’m proud of the boys, played their hearts out

Playing on and moving the ball quickly is quite taxing. A few might have spent their petrol tickets. The more you play that style you run out the games better.

An excellent defensive effort to hold it together after Disco went down. Huge game from TMac. I have been critical of Howes in the past but he played his role well today.

Langford looks a star of the future.

Was hoping we scored 80, ended up >100 which is where we need to be. +46 points on our average this year.

Kept them <100 which is the other half of what I wanted, especially good result without May & Lever and with Petty up forward.

Maybe we’re not dead yet.

No player is closer to Goodwin than Koz. He played for his coach today.

Tmac is a modern great of the MFC. Nobody talks about it, but he gives 100% at every contest, he has been loyal, and I hope he gets to 250 games.

25000 supporters at the G. Just as impressive as the boys today.

We were loud today. I was proud. But we need more.

Gotta say that was a great gritty win.

Really happy for the club and especially the players to see reward for effort.

Our disposal still needs work at times. When we execute those kicks through the corridor it's awesome but the likes of Salem and Viney can do it better.

They've done it before, they just need to take a short breath rather than rushing the kick.

We also still need to lower our eyes more coming in But a good step forward.

Just good to see us grind it out.

Great tackling pressure. Great win

Keep playing entertaining footy and they'll come.

We will be ok , with that group of youngsters.

Langford was really solid and Bowey was BOG , Kozzie, Kolt, Lindsay, Windsor all great.

Old stagers Viney and TMac played terrific footy.

Petty at Full forward with 4 was promising and will hopefully give him some confidence in the coming weeks.

Best feeling ever.

Don’t think I’ve seen more of a pro at the Dees than T Mac. Exceptional game and Petty just reminded a few that he can play the game.

I see him walking his pram down Glenferrie Road with his newborn and he looks knackered. Kudos to him for turning up every week!!

I said in the Gameday Thread that I believed in miracles …….. and so it came to pass!

You can drop the modern bit. He is an all-time great.

Come on fox footy - is it to much to ask - to see the debutants being sprayed with Gatorade?

Loved Bowey and Koz today - epic!

All anyone wants of us is effort from our team, that's all we can ask every week.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.Ā  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fieryĀ interaction between Max Gawn and Steven MayĀ at the end of the gameĀ was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
