6 Maxy. whatโ€™s game.

5. Trac

4. XL. Excellent debut. Going to be a beauty for us.

3 Bowey

2. Salo

1. TMac ย great replacement for May.

6 - Trac
5 - Gawn
4 - Lindsay
3 - Bowey
2 - Lever
1 - TMac

Really interested to see all the Salem votes. I thought his kicking was far too laid back and put us under unnecessary pressure.ย

Play May FF

Surprised with the love for Petracca ( although I do love him) but I thought he did some very un Petracca things today

Thought the mids cost us in the last.ย  They simply couldn't go with Toby Greene.ย  Over the entire game:

6. Gawn - dominated as you'd expect. 14 contested possessions

5. Lever - very sure and steady.ย  Looked like the AA version of himself

4. Petty - definitely a defender

3. Lindsay - an excellent game first up.ย  Absolute class

2. Petracca - played in bursts but did some great things

1. McDonald - as a late replacement I thought he was great.

Clarry was good up until the last, and I thought Sparrow was worthy of an honourable mention.ย  He got better as the game went on. Jack Viney had 27 disposals and only 9 were contested.ย  He is not the guy we want having the ball dished off to.

6. Gawn

5. Lever

4.Trac

3. Bowey

Honourable mention to Sparrow, Windsor and Marshย

My thoughts

Tmac, Gawn, Lever, Windsor ย and Petty

and one vote could go to any number of players. Rivers Salem XL Bowey sparrow tracca Oliver Viney or any of the new blokes ย to my mind they all showed they could play.ย

6. Gawn

6 Those Irish dancers

5 Trac - Team oriented

4 Gawn - if he kicked one of those goals and his man didn't kick the winning goal he'd be bog

3 Sparrow - finally coming on like we always hoped he would

2 X - nice debut. Feeling very good about this pick after today. Classic JT taking someone so ultra competitive at the contest. Like Windsor you didn't expect it.

1 Bowey - best game in a long time

ย

A good even team performance, which was great to see.

6. ย  Gawn ย - ย outstanding, as alwaysย
5. ย  Lever ย - ย a โ€˜rockโ€™ in defenceย
4. ย  Petracca ย - ย still bleeds red & blue
3. ย  Salem ย - ย  injury free, and showed why weโ€™ve missed him
2. ย  T.Mac ย - ย seamless late additionย
1. ย  ย Petty ย - ย  back where he belongsย

* ย Bowey unlucky to miss out.

** ย Plaudits to all our debutants, lead by Lindsay โญ๏ธ

The early signs are very promising!

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
