Long time lurker on this site but never have commented. This is disappointing to hear. I was really hoping we’d keep him in a role like this for our AFLW. He’s passionate about it and just a good guy. I’d have loved to keep him around the club.

Very, very disappointing that we couldn't find a suitable role to keep him at the club.

Is this 100%?

One of my mates lives in Pasco Vale and BBB goes to the same gym.

So he's gone somewhere with better facilities and a very short drive from where he lives, a no-brainer for him but a loss for us.

Sad news, loved having him on board.

Really sad to see him move to the dark side. Still, when you live in Moonee Ponds Tullamarine is a helluva lot closer than Cranbourne.

Ben Brown may be building up to a move back to his home state and a position on the Tasmania Devils where he would be a fantastic acquisition.

It's sad to see him move on, seems a good guy.

...but, in the end you can't keep everyone.

Good luck Ben, thanks for your time with us.

Nooooo!!!

What a massive loss for our club. We will most certainly rue this.

And of all clubs why does it have to be Essendon 🤮

Like others, I’m very sorry to see Benny leaving.  He was an outstanding ambassador for our club.

First there was Nev Jetta in a filth jumper, and now BBB in a Bummers jumper!!! Sorry, but makes me want to puke.

The sooner BBB is back at the Dees or helping out in Tassie, the better it will be.

Now that would be some 5-D multi-timeline Diplomacy.

Certainly makes sense to build a resume and connections.

I thought it was the done thing for players to do a stint at another club in various roles to get a first hand look at other clubs systems, expand their knowledge and increase their own personal development.

I can see Daisey Pearce returning to Melbourne in the future to coach our woman’s team.

Ben may have spent the majority of his career at the Roos, but he's now a part of the Demons family. He's a child who's left home to find his own way, but the thing about kids is sometimes they come back. It sounds like the gig suits his life at the moment, and maybe it's part of a plan to work with Tassie, but regardless, I hope the Bombers look after him - they are lucky to get him and I have no doubt they will benefit immensely from his presence.

Go well, Benny - we'll miss you.

Come home soon :-)

Huge thanks to BBB and his family for what they bought to the MFC, so important for us in our drought breaking year. Although I would prefer that Ben stayed at Melbourne there are clubs out there that need him more than us. Goodbye BBB let’s hope that you can reunite with us at a later stage in your career.❤️💙😪

His role in the coaching side of the AFLW team was voluntary while he was playing with us.  I had a conversation with Ben about this a few times, and he told me when he and Tom Campbell marched with us at Midsumma that Melbourne could only offer him 1 day a week in a paid role because of restrictions in the soft salary cap.  Stinear told him they'd love to have him, but the problem at Melbourne is that it's had a very stable coaching program at AFLW with little departures.  He told me then that Essendon may be able to offer him 4 days a week with their program.  It's a sad situation but understandable.  Melbourne couldn't risk breaching their salary cap, which is a real shame.

Or possibly our men’s. She appears to have done wonders at WC.
