Sadly, the news is again coming from leaks.  I would think only a small number of people would have access to the results and they shouldn't be leaking this stuff.

Anyway, here is an initial report from 'journalists' with another misleading title Goodwin urged to ‘lighten up’ amid major Demons leadership overhaul.

theage.com

Mods may want to move this to the Pert thread but as the report findings are to be released tomorrow a new thread might be appropriate as the findings will be broader than Pert's departure.

I will post a summary shortly as it may take some time to compile

A summary:

On Smith (old news)

“If elected I can hopefully help with stability of the club generally, with players, the board, sponsors. I am much more comfortable doing it now with [president] Brad [Green] there and then have an orderly transition.”

On  Goodwin

Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin has been urged to lighten up in his dealings with players

A football department review to be released on Friday found the events of the past 12 months had weighed heavily on Goodwin, making him intense and stressed around players, according to two sources familiar with the findings who were not authorised to speak publicly.

The sources said Goodwin welcomed the recognition of the burden he had been carrying and agreed with the sentiment to try to ease his stress. The review reinforced that the players still held the 2021 premiership coach in high regard and wanted him to have the support needed to perform at his best.

On Richardson

The review recommends a tweaking of roles within the football department and a shift in the focus of high-performance manager Alan Richardson.

Former New Zealand All Blacks manager Darren Shand, who helped lead the review, will have a mentoring role in managing the way Richardson deals with the team, coach and the rest of the department.

The rest of the article is a repeat of the Pert article earlier today and discussed in the Pert thread.

The above are reports which may not align in accuracy or context with the acutual findings.

If they are accurate:

  • I'm very pleased Goodwin will get the support the players think he needs and he is open to receiving
  • I'm surprised that Richardson is getting a 'mentor' after so many years in the game.  But not surprised as I have said elsewhere he was a poor choice for GM of FD.

  • Lucifers Hero changed the title to Results of Club Reviews

Is this straight out of the Dan Andrews media management playbook?

Friday before a long weekend... CEO resign, Another unmentionable story drops... Dump the review findings...

Create [censored] storm soup... then head to the beach house until Wednesday...

Bravo 👏

If I was Brad Green I would be quite annoyed that these leaks have come out.

Too many blabber-mouths at the Club it seems!

I will wait and see what the Melbourne Football Club officially makes public from the Reviews in the next few days.

The above are reports that may not align.....so possibly true, half true or completely untrue..

But let's put them out there

Could you please name your source, whilst we are still on the first page on what will probably become a multi page topic based on?

Translation... Richardson be gone.

Goody needs help.??

Think about that...and I'll leave it there.

I have thought about it : Goody needs help from whom, to do what?

Cheers

Lighten up Goody! It’s only footy

WTF are they on about?

He should be intense and serious. Will he be ordered to do some yoga?

Its an intense job and industry

*pretty sure i’m overreacting but it’s been a long night of halloween shenanigans

Didn't Hardwick get the same feedback after the 2016 review? Another coach too from memory, Buckley after 2017 review? Both had good results.

Of course you need to be serious but not walk around like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, that breeds anxiety in the playing group which is a death knell in pro sports. Fun and enthusiasm take teams a long way.

Maybe they need to hire a clown to shadow him everywhere he goes and lighten the mood.

Happy Joaquin Phoenix GIF

And he can give out balloon animals at each team meeting

Wait, you mean to tell me that all this time there have been systematic reviews going on and some major reorganisation planning happening?

I am shocked.

I was sure the club was sitting on its hands all this time.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
