MELBOURNE veteran Tom McDonald has secured another deal for 2025.

McDonald, who turns 32 next week, has been in talks to extend for another season in recent weeks.

The Victorian is now finalising a deal to play on for a 15th season with the Demons

Not yet official but seems close.

Same article also says we’ve not offered Tomlinson an extension yet, and that Hore also has to wait to see if we extend him.

Good on him, he worked for it. Gives us another year's cover for the younger brigade (whoever they are ...).

Absolute no brainer. Tommy just played his most consistent season since arguably 2018. With Tomlinson likely St Kilda bound, Adams still developing and Turner's new role in the forward line we need all the tall defensive depth we can muster.

This will also give him a decent chance at 250 games next year as well which would be a terrific achievement and well deserved.

Good news. Had a great season and is a leader we could absolutely use around the club.

Likely top half dozen in the Bluey this year.  Just reward for a great servant.

TMac extension well deserved

Seems as if Tomlinson will go and personally I wouldn’t extend Hore, too slow when he gets the ball to make a decision and not good enough against better teams.

Club has offered another 3 tonnes of radox and 124 tubes of voltaren!!!  Definitely just one more year and that’s it. !!!!

The guys had a good year, give him a break & stop being so miserable

Good onya TMac

Best comeback since Lazarus!
Was outstanding all year in defence.

Wonderful clubman, always gives 100%.

Really surprised me this season, determined young fella is Tmac. Totally good decision. Tomlinson needs a reset, so often he has a great return game into the side, and you think why did we drop him previously, and then the follow up game he doesn't deliver enough and becomes a bit of a liability. Really yoyo's on form. Tmac has been consistent when injury free. So I get the club's decision.

Well done TMac the extra year is well earnt he was back to his best this year and provides valuable depth and experience for our younger brigade.

He’s a bloody legend.

His commitment has never been questioned and should hold down a spot down back next year

I thought he was gone after last years final series but gees he proved me wrong down back.

I think Hore has a role.

Every Hore has/plays a role. 😜

TMac is one of footy's great stories, going at pick 53 or so in the draft, overcoming challenging foot injuries and reinventing himself at both ends of the ground over the years. Good on him!

He had a very tough preseason but managed to play very well. Happy for him. I’m 99% sure Maxy would’ve been in his ear to play on.

Fun fact:  Both Tom and Oscar McDonald were selected at pick 53 in their respective drafts.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
