I’d be interested. 

If the club is looking to have McVee and Rivers play more midfield and to play a more dynamic style then we need more distributors from half back. We only have Salem and Bowey now as distributors, so Daniel is a proven player down there that fills that need well. The Bulldogs have many players of that role, do his opportunities have been more limited. 

Daniel is a good player and suits our team. I’d be keen to get him.

My concern with Daniel is that he is not overly quick and not a long kick. This means he a a 45 metre player and I like 60m players at half back to open up the game. Plus, he also not a great one-on-one defender.

Too slow. Too small. Cannot defend 1-1.  Can kick accurately.  But his best is behind him.  
Sorry I’m in the NO NO NO NO camp.  

Tim Lamb needs to be banned picking up 28 year olds out of other teams VFL teams.

Caleb Daniel is a good player, currently getting a game in a team heading into finals, BUT, we already have too many small players on our list, and he isn't really an improvement on any of them. It's a no from me, not because I don't rate him as a player, but recruiting him isn't, in my opinion, fixing any of our issues. 

Rarely advances the ball. Predominantly kicks sideways or backwards. No 

If we'd just rolled off a flag and were looking at some depth insurance i'd be interested.

Reality is we need a mini rebuild and lists spots for draftees is the direction we need to take.

In our current best 22 Daniel would play in a forward/wing role and even some on ball time. Replace ANB and help us move the ball with switches, through the corridor through clever leads and work rate to provide options.

We’d lose defensive pressure but help transition back to a more attacking style.

We need pace and accurate kicks, the opposite of Billing’s, Hunter and Daniel’s. Can you image our Casey side next year. It’s a no from me

It's a yes from me, Daniel is a victim of the Bevo wheel of who should I play this week.

Great ball user and gets into good spots, as long as the price isn't too high yes.  Very handy with the loss of ANB

No.  Too slow now. Gets exposure defensively.  Good skills but too short and too slow.  Modern footy demands athleticism and defensive ability as well. Dogs saw it with Hunter.  They now see it with Daniel.  He was good. But it’s now passed him.  

I'm way too scarred by Dunstan, McAdam Hunter Billings etc etc to have any interest whatsoever in a player such as CD.

His skill is the short lateral kick (70 degrees or so) to a relatively free player. These days the skill required is a quick ten yards and then a medium (40 metre) 0-25 degrees degrees kick so you are in front of the "masses" rolling back.

He also tends to run in an almost circle before disposing of the ball which gives even more time to the "masses" rolling back.

As I recall he also go a fair few kicks from just sitting alone on the 50 metre defensive arc. Not sure you can afford to have a player in that position for too long these days.

Finally we already have our fair share of smalls in the team

We can't let the acquisition of the McAdams, Fullerton's of the the world discourage us for looking at these budget options

For every Hunter and Fullerton, there's a d'Ambrossio or Chol...not quite sure which category Daniel would fall in yet but he is/was a class above our previous couple of years worth of recruits

Daniel has one thing going for him - a miskick which ended up as a Brayshaw goal in the GF.

I think people misread where our list is at, every game we basically play half or more of our side as 23 and under players that have barely played any games, we're closer to a rebuilding side in terms of our team makeup and i honestly think it's a mistake to be recruiting players like Caleb Daniel to be anything more than handy depth, if he kept someone like Howes or Bowey out of the side and prevented them from developing, i think that's an objectively bad thing in the short, medium and long term. 

I think we could do with an experienced forward to help teach JVR, Jefferson, Turner and perhaps an experienced mid to help rebuild our depth in the midfield, but outside of that i'd be sticking to adding as many good young players as we possibly can before Tassie come in and the rebuilding becomes significantly more difficult.

Daniel falls into the Hunter and Billings category. Their best is well past them, and unwanted by their clubs for a reason.

D'Ambrosia and Chol both had unfulfilled potential. They're the types we should be targetting. 

McAdam was still wanted by the Crows, and I think can still be a decent contributor for us. Fullerton hasn't been given a chance and is playing in a crappy Casey team.

Hunter was a smart pickup - allowed us to move Brayshaw on-ball and he was more than handy in his first season. Combination of the arrival of Windsor, injury and age haven't helped him this year, but it wasn't the worst trade by a long shot.

If we didn't get Hunter, there's every chance Jordon would still be at the club. And Hunter was bog average in his first season, and kept Jordon out of the side.

Hunter was a terrible short-sighted pick-up, as Caleb Daniel would be.

It’s a no purely because of the performative Schlock he tried on max in the GF
