Big Thanks and good luck Staf!! 

What struck me about Staff, whenever I attended training, was his great enthusiasm for every drill he took. It was contagious among the lads he was coaching. He also put his body into his ruck and forward positional instruction, taking the blows, that were inevitable, with a smile before setting up for the next! 

A huge thanks to Greg Stafford came aboard during the massive change process introduced by PJ, PR & SG which eventually led to our finals successes in 2018, 2021-2023 and now has made space for someone else to come in and help reinvigorate the group for future successes. He’s been a great father figure for the team, thanks Greg and good luck in your future endeavours.

Greg Stafford’s departure from Melbourne is one of those "it is what it is" moments. Footy is a results-driven industry, and going forward, the Dees will need to adapt in the space. Stafford’s been in the system long enough to know how it works, but now it’s up to the boys to step up, find that fresh voice, while staying true to our brand.

For a start, the game plan has to change and someone who can teach the young players how to play that position, how to position one self, running patterns, when to lead and where every time.

Not unhappy that they’re mixing things up but I always thought Stafford copped a lot of flack when his line had the least amount of talent.

Our forward line also defended their backsides off whilst our backs gave no attacking drive.

Yes, time for renewal for Staff and the coaching staff. He was part of a coaching team that delivered a flag and multiple finals appearances.

'Pursue other opportunities' always smacks of 'let go' as opposed to 'I'm going'. I hate it. I hope in Greg's case it was at least somewhere in between.

Well it's not an actual word anyway so not sure what your point is to be honest. 

I'm far from someone who hates on opposition teams and players for no reason either. 

Whether you were happy with Staff or not, and hand on heart, I think it was probably time for him to move on - and that's ok - that's not a dig - sometimes you just need change and that can be said for both parties. Our forward line/approach needs a fresh set of eyes and it's time (perhaps a little late...but again, just me) so it's a good decision and I wish him the best. To those potting the guy, it's easy to do so from the couch, but the reality is that we won a flag with him there, and very little was said about that. It should be acknowledged. Thank you.

A ruckman coaching our forward division? yeah right, can we get someone who was an ACTUAL forward to do the gig next year? Just my view of course!
