The MFC aren't exactly great with comms, so don't bet on it.

They're pretty handy with a sob story email though 👍

Guaranteed. AFL HQ control the media and Geelong, Collingwood and Carlton are their faves.

There is some history repeating here though.  We cant seem to hold on or foster decent players through a crisis it seems.

Some end up leaving and turn it around at other club (clubs who are better at doing so?) and end up turning their footy career around.

The latest Clazz saga feels like history repeating for me.

A large part of why we are where we are on this of course might be on Claz but the question has to be asked, why us so often?

We just don't feel like a destination club for whatever reason, even after a recent premiership.

Quite sad really.  We had a great opportunity post 2021 and it's looking more and more like we may have blown it.

Whatever happens we can’t involve our 2025 first round pick in any trade as it will be pick 1.

Richmond Under 19s say hi!

It’s really becoming like the Watts situation. Much loved fan favourite, all the talent in the world, someone you’d love to have a beer with, but just not professional enough.

it’s a huge fall from grace for Clarry as coaching department inclusive of the Roos era we’re saying he was the most professional and competitive person they had ever seen.

I remember thinking we got rolled for the Jack watts Trade, but the player brought in for him Fritsch, we don’t win the flag without him.

I’m sad to see him go as I love our players. But I’m missing the player we was 2 years ago, not the one he is now who can’t even poll 1 brownlow vote in a season.

It appears we want him gone

Who is “we” exactly though?

Because Goodwin apparently doesn’t.

If we’re to believe him, forces higher up are about to strip him of a club champion. A champion who he believes he can still manage and return him to his best form.

So either that’s not how he really feels, or the club are officially saying they have no confidence he can.

This all fits in with the notion that one of Goodwin’s characteristics is being “mates” with the players.

I can’t help but be reminded of the teachers I had in high school who wanted to be “in” with the students (“the ones who’d say “None of that ‘mister’ stuff, call me Steve”). You liked them but you didn’t fear them, and you were often trying to find out where the boundaries actually were.

If Clarry goes and pert stays I am officially out. It will give me much more time on weekends to work on playing on the champions tour. The short game still needs work.

Well if he goes to Geelong at least we will know who we are playing round 1 the AFL Won’t miss the cash grab

Anyone who’s going to the B&F should stand up as one & tell the MFC to get stuffed.

We the supporters have been treated like rabbits droppings for 18 months.

The handling of the players & the clubs finances has been nothing short of appalling & we get nothing from these bludgers

Well blow me away.. not surprised one bit.

This is going to be an absolute distraction each and every year he's with us.

Either the leadership group are too weak to control him or they're simply just fed up and had enough of his [censored].

Clearly he's not willing to grow up.

Happily support the club on this if they decided to trade him.

Yeah - that Max Gawn and Viney and May and TMac and Milkshake are all hopeless.

Oh please. Don't act like it's a solid rock hard leadership group, far from it.

Under their watch there have been significant off field issues for the last couple of year.

They absolutely need to take some sort of responsibility for the mess along with the football department as well.

This makes me hate Trac even more. Doesn't like his behaviour but has no issue with the player, just the club? Makes no [censored] sense.

Go after Connor O'Sullivan. 19yo, 198cm defender, pick #11 in the 2023 draft.

Currently he's not even the first reserve option at the Cats, SDK didn't play in the prelim, so O'Sullivan is a way down the pecking order. He can come to the Dees and learn from May and Lever, and would likely play next year. He'd be ready to go as our #1 defender when May is eventually done.

Oliver -> O'Sullivan and Geelong's 2025 first.

You heard it here first...that deal Plus..... Picket Fence training reports plus evocative and thought provoking narratives at CATLAND in 2025

I'm completely fed up with our club. What a debacle. If Clarry leaves we ain't contenders any time soon.

Trac will leave next year and we go thru this [censored] again

Cooneys call to get Trac out now as sickening as it is might be best with such a good talent pool this draft. Finish bottom 6 again most likely but I couldn't care less as long as we have players who want to be involved in getting some credibility back to what is an absolute laughing stock club .

What a rabble. Time to reset.

I'm having my 2 bobs worth. We should toughen up and tell Oliver he stays as a Demon and get your act together. See you on 1st day of preseason training. Only thing to do UNLESS some fantastic offer is made to us otherwise, we play hard ball.

What perplexes me is how can the coach Simon Goodwin and the CEO Gary Pert be on different pages?!

Shouldn't Simon Goodwin be making these decisions? If he wants Clayton Oliver to stay a Demon then he should do so.

Gary Pert should not be contradicting what Simon Goodwin wants. That will only cause further drama and resentment.

This speculation is not helping the Melbourne Football Club at all. In fact, it is ripping the Club apart regarding a beloved player in Clayton Oliver.

We need to see leadership from those in charge at the Melbourne Football Club. We want to know what the hell is going on?!

If Gary Pert is behind pushing out Clayton Oliver then Gary Pert needs to be sacked!

I suggest all Melbourne supporters who are angry with CEO Gary Pert regarding this whole fiasco about Clayton Oliver to send him an email.

One theory: Goodwin has to say he still wants Clarry in case a deal doesnt get done.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
