I'm a good bet to be there to report! But I'll let Landers know!

Sliterers won't be very active, but be careful as they won't be able to get out of your way if you do happen across one 🐍

Is Weid playing VFL these days

I cannot believe it but the Weid was suspended for 3(?) games for a high hit on someone.
Who said he had no appetite for a contest?

Must've been an accident. Did he apologise straight away?

At least any named emergencies that don't get a late call up will be able to play for a change.

Imagine wanting to desperately play AFL but also you just love playing and being with your mates at VFL.  Then being named as an emergency for weeks on end and not being able to play at either level.

And to top it off Selwyn makes you run 12kms up and down the ground after the game to keep your fitness up.

Weid is a four letter word the mods should add to the banned list.

2015 draft Weid pick 9, McKay pick 10, Curnow pick 12

BTW Schach attack pick 2.

I think Weid has copped enough. Let it go.

He didn’t turn out the way we wanted but he did give us a couple of good finals appearances in 2018 and was part of something Melbourne supporters hadn’t seen in 12 years.

It was absolutely an accident, he clumsily clipped somebody high when they were sliding into get a ground ball

Does anyone know what happened to Roy George who played one terrific game and disappeared out of sight?

He’s been killing it for Tyntynder seniors. I’m sure we’re keeping track, probably hasn’t played at Casey cause we’re hiding him from Dodoro

Completely uninformed post.

Multiple goals in many matches, lots of possessions out of the middle. Would he want to give up being a big fish in a small pond?

By George, Bulldogs are too good

this kid could be anything, I think application sadly is the only thing that has/is holding him back.

Fun fact about the Casey Demons and the fractured VFL fixture:

Last week, Casey played Brisbane up north and there was something about the game that bothered me and I couldn't work out exactly what it was. Then I realised that Casey had already played against Brisbane earlier in the season (it was Round 8). What's strange about this is that there are more teams than rounds so why would you play one team twice? Then I discovered that Casey also plays Footscray a second time in Round 19 and that they don't play Geelong, Southport, Sydney Swans and Werribee at all this season.

This isn't a competition - it's Mickey Mouse club stuff!

I would’ve thought Weid would be literally the last AFL listed player behind BBB to cop a suspension.

And sure enough both have copped suspensions over the last 12-18 months.

Has not been a decent comp since covid.

It's a glorified training run.

For the non aligned clubs it makes a little more sense but I've lost interest.

Young Yze having a game! If so, that is fantastic news.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
