If Petty isn't fit, then that's an easy swap, but it does mean that we go smaller up forward, especially when JVR is doing the ruck work. Not ideal.

If Petty is right to go, he could come in for Kolt.

And before anyone suggests it, no Fritta will not be dropped at this current moment. He had a better game last week on Andrews, and I want to see how he performs with Melksham back in the side.

Who is good enough to keep Milkshake out ??

Hes got more footynouse in one big toe than many and more ability in the other than some currently racking up games.

Even at 75% id play him as he'd know how to get to the end of the last qtr..   unlike some who reckon 3 are all thats required.

Serious question...  to any.

    What do you consider a good goal return for a (secondary) small forward like Kade? Kicked 12.6 this year. No doubt if we were a bit more fluid and functional it would be a higher number. No chance for me they drop a player 3rd at the club for tackles. 

    Would like to see Kolt, Milky and Kade in the same line up.

    No one keeps him out Bub. I think the question is 'is he physically and mentally ready for senior footy or will he be better placed to succeed after a game or two for Casey?'

    We can only speculate. 

    Jake will need to decide if he is mentally ready (suspect he's the type that will always believe he is!), and the FD will assess if he's done enough work to be physically ready to impact.

    Mentally.... i reckon he crosses onto the pitch and he's good to go.. That's just him.

    Physically... very much the question. Logic would suggest a run in the magoos.   No point being sub ...imho.   But for mine tge caveat is a 75% Milshake is still better than some other options.

    Jake is the only one that keeps himself out.  He played so many 4-7 possession games over the last few years with very little impact, then had a purple patch late last year. 

    If he can maintain focus and intensity for 4 quarters he is one of the first picked as he is so skilled. That is why he frustrates me so much. He kicks on his left better than most of the team on their preferred foot.  Maybe defensive fwd is a way to get him into games? He does that well

    Interesting view.

    He is one of the very few that knows how to use his body cleverly and kick to advantage. That said sometimes tge recipient isn't on the same frequency and it can go pearish. 

    I think he's been hampered in past by niggles. That may be part of a logic in running a game out for Casey first.

    But if he IS fit and raring to go..  i'd let him.  We a bit shy on good options atm.

    I am surprised but then i realised/remembered that we had 11 players 22 or under in the team last week. 

    So it makes total sense.

    The bench will be interesting. Who misses out?

    My predicted last loss of the season is done, and now Melksham is back in.

    Coincidence? I think not. Melksham will go out the way Bowey came in.

    It will be interesting to see how our forward line operates with Melksham and Fritsch together as there is potential headaches for the opposition.

    The good news is that either player can play that defensive role on a Harris Andrews/Jacob Weitering star defender. Perhaps one of them takes McGovern on Sunday.

    They only played together about 6 times last year, and in their last 2 games together Fritta went off injured in Alice and then Melk went off injured at the SCG, but they combined for 7 goals that day.

      There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

      I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.
