Yeah it was tough to watch but we defended well considering. I mean, we kicked 5.5 in the last quarter. If that's 8.2 we almost steal the win lol My point is that our worst looks really bad because our best is so good. But tonight really wasn't that bad. If I'm Brisbane I'd be pretty [censored] about that last quarter especially given we were a man down and came from a double trip in Adelaide and without a bye yet. We honestly soldiered on until the end. It's a long season.

Suggest you buy a shovel to help to dig deeper.

I’m not worried, as @binman often points out.

“We are clearly in a high density loading phase..”

What the club is loading, I’ll leave that up to Demonland to elaborate on.

3 changes in 3 weeks with 2 away games in those “12 days” which isn’t 12 days as we would have had 6-7 days leading into the port game.

We can’t carry Oliver if he is going to serve up that garbage.

Burn the tape and move on.
It is clear that our midfield has got away with subpar performances all year, but not tonight. A big area for improvement.

It wasn’t just our mids, it was our whole team defence. Our system got dismantled.

Can I also say we lost to a team that were runners up last year. Brisbane aren't a terrible team. They may have started badly but you know at some point they'd improve.

The quicker this one goes in the bin the better, just forget about it. Freshen up time.

T Mac deserves votes.

Agree. I thought Tom was great. He should be proud of how he’s competing.

I wouldn't be giving any sort of judgement on the Colt having to debut in a side that played as we did.

Also our fixture is pretty funny now for a bit:
- 13 days til Richmond
- 10 til cats
- 5 til baggers
- 10 til meth coke

If we are the real deal we should be coming out that with 3 wins.

So quick to judge Salem.

His 10-15 kicks hit targets.

We are sleeping on his importance.

Hard to rely on him when he can't stay healthy the last 2 years.

Where was the effort from the 4th in the first 3 quarters?

As for Petty, 2 touches from an entire game………a limbless person could do better. He can go, thinks he’s a king and yet is lazy with a poor attitude.

Here are the FACTS, GIFTED a game after a Zero, thats right ZERO possesions at Casey a few weeks back. Tonight , however he was poorer than that effort! OVERATED!

Poor effort tonight but could see the team didn’t have the same energy as previous weeks…impossible to win every week and Brisbane are a good side, we have plenty to work on but not the end of the world

Anyone know the record of holding the balls paid against a side in a game, because I reckon we witnessed history tonight.

Speaks to Brisbane’s hunger tonight. Unfortunately it was a statement game from them.

The fact we kept them to below 100 given the dominance needs to be recognised, the defence did what they could and it also means the desire was there.

But utterly smashed in the clearance, so were losing field position all night. And when we tried to clear, we have no one capable of taking a relieving mark, or even square a contest up the field. Tall forwards were woeful..

And that was the game in a nutshell. Zero field position, and no way of getting it back out.

Hate the fair weather posters on demonland.

It's April. Crack and beer and relax

Felt like a 122 point loss. Was only 22 in the end. Rest up boys and put in a better showing on Anzac eve

We just looked absolutely cooked, midfield banged up, forward line completely shot/disinterested/burned by poor delivery, and out on our feet.

Lost a player after 10 minutes as well which didn't help. Bye comes at a very good time. Brissy will go on a tear over the next couple of months I think - they're still a quality side.

Just like in Round 2 last year, anyone trying to take anything seriously from the last quarter needs to go back to school.

I'm actually a bit tired of these flattering scorelines when we lose. They mask a lot of problems.

I actually don’t think we have a game style that can beat Brisbane. They sliced through us like they did last year at the MCG but this time they went on with it. We barely adjusted to close down space and they ran us off our legs with all those uncontested marks.

If we play them in the finals, Goodwin will need to be completely prepared for this as this uncontested game will torch us again.

It’s overcome with pressure. That’s why it doesn’t stand up in finals.

Could have been a lot worse

I haven’t seen this Melbourne side thrashed like tonight, since Roos was coaching, yet it was 22 points

Lots of work ahead of you Goodwin

They also tell me that we don’t just give up. Would you rather lose by 60?
I am not suggesting the final score was a reflection of the true result, because it wasn’t. But better to give something than give up. Those were the Neeld days. I don’t ever want to see that again.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
