Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

yep

i'm not convinced the game style mitchell wants them to play can be effectively executed by the players at his disposal

Yeah he needs a combination of a Zimbabwe Bobsled team coupled with a Himalayan soccer team for his side ways reverse herringbone formation! Ghastly!😱

He’s less of a tool in yellow and brown. It helps that he’s no longer being egged on by a bunch of halfwits in the stands.

Although my train ride home was incredibly unpleasant thanks to a pack of drunk Hawks fans aggressively swearing and chanting profanities against the Melbourne fans on the train. Absolute morons.

he is a very smart thinking footballer he will mature with age as he is only 21.

He has reached a new level

A few years back many thought he was fringe. He barely played 2016 and missed a big chunk of 2020 (partly due to being a sacrificial lamb to AFL on sling tackle) and I think was then a year behind Tracc on development into their best

Now he's got 150 under the belt he's just continuing to improve, uses his work rate and now his disposal is elite 24 at 75% with 23 PA

Loving it ❤️ 💙

It's hard to say for someone like Nibbler that he's fitter than he's ever been knowing the standard he sets but I genuinely think he's fitter than he's ever been.

Freedom of movement. My 75 year old father could outrun him today.

As I said, he looked better down back and took that great pack mark in the first quarter, but otherwise his movement and agility seemed severely hampered to me and others around us at the game.

As I said!! But yes he DID look better down back!

We had a solid lead and they were kicking it back and forth to each other on our half forward line. We were literally just waiting for them to make an error and then slingshot on them. We didn't need to do anything else but defend. It was a very José Mourinho-like performance.

Goody said they are 'always happy' to let teams switch and hold onto the ball. Has been a hallmark o his coaching.

Paraphrasing, its all about stopping them score.

And responding to what the oppo dish up tactically. Another hallmark of goody's coaching.

I said to mate leaving the ground that  once we got a decent lead they were happy for them to play kick to kick 80 metres from their goals.

They are not eating into the margin.

And we just wash from side to side which in addition to being bruise free, that sort of half pace running, with occasional sprint is way less taxing that running hard up and down the ground.

And if it's about percentage, keeping an oppo to under 40 points and winning by 55 is the way to build it.

After all the pain they inflicted on us for close to a decade, it's time to even the score. Imagine if May and Lever hadn't gone down, it could've been way worse for them.

How worse do you think it could get?

After May and Lever went down they only kicked 1 more goal for the match.

Herculean effort from our defence without both May and Lever.

Yep, we really aren't doing a lot of defensive running in that situation and we're staying fresh.

Games and seasons are marathons not sprints, its all about timing your run in. I'm not about perfect 100 point drubbings or 5 star performances at this part of the season.

And in what world is a 9 goal win not a smashing?

A 9 goal win and keeping opposition to under 40 is a smashing no matter where abouts in the season it happens!

50 more disposals per goal than us today.  Must be some sort of record.  At one point they switched 4 consecutive times across HB.

Some MFC supporters started getting frustrated at our kick-mark play in the fourth.

I thought it was smart - we were down one on the bench and hadn't been able to give Brown or TMac any rest. Keeping the play a bit slower for a period made sense to me.

Perfect sense, it's the manner of the performance that counts. We were always in control.

100%.  It's better than playing on at break neck only to hand the ball straight back and see the oppo get some cheapies in junk time.

We did this beautifully for much of the match against the Dogs and got the chockies.

I was hoping we would bring this for stages in the 2nd but we preferred to pick and roll more often which i thought played into the Hawk's game a bit.

Just finished watching.

Ruthless footy. So good to see such variation going forward now. Just love it.

Petracca was just huge. That spoil and gut running to make it when the game was iced. True leadership and hunger. And he's havning fun!

Windsor is going to be a star for us.

Pickett is really finding his groove. invaluable

Clarry, How good was that kick off the side of his boot to a team meate on the wing while being crunched by two players in the third?

Sad to see May get crunched. Opprotnunity is there for Tommo to seize the day now. Surely they must bring him in.

Fritta, he got the goals but I still think he's a bit lazy with his defensive efforts.

JVR only got the one goal but I think he is going to be a massive forward for us. You can see his presence and cinfidence growing week to week now that our forward line is opening up. He's not a bad second ruck either.
He just keeps competing. He is taking a while but I still think he will be a Schwarta for us.

Commentators - The Wizard? Really? because he has a mullet or something? He kicked six behinds before getting a goal and still they pumped him up. Jeff Farmer, you must want to punch them. I do.
Can we get more race callers. Seriously. Huddo and Dwayne.

Free kicks, we lost the free kick count after slapping them most of the day. 9 goal win. Lost the free kick count 20 to 17.
Not that they'd try and even it up or anything.

Bring on Adelaide. Yeah baby

How are you not happy with a 55pt smashing? they scored 5 goals for the match and we lost our 2 best defenders.  They came with everything in the 2nd Q and we repelled them.

Agree with all.

With the possible exception of the assessment of fritter's defensive work.

I thought he was average defensively last week, but he got the melksham role on Sicily, a gough job, and limited his intercept marking

He also got up the ground to help out defensively and laid a couple of big tackles.

I'm about to watch the replay, having watched it live, so I'll keep an eye on fritter.

I might be a bit harsh too. Just thought he jogged on a bit when most of the team just chased hard from start to finish.

The other takeaway that I thought was great to hear was they're getting back to having fun and enjoying the game again, I get the feeling that after '21 they sort of had a determination that was almost feeding back in as anxiety. There has been almost a fear of failure and I feel like like that has been on show with our two straight sets exits. The last two weeks they look like they're playing with a bit of freedom and enjoyment, yes there's still the determination to win and them working to a system, but it's back to remembering that it is a game. He said he's got the dream job, so why not enjoy it.

There are no expectations on us this year, with the heavy media emphasis on our “disastrous” off season…they are off us and we are no longer considered the hunted.

Can only be a good thing in my opinion. Hopefully we can continue to fly under the radar and just keep chalking up wins. Next two weeks are crucial, especially if we are without both May and Lever. I’ll be happy to walk away with 1 from 2 and sit 3-2 after round 5 (or 4 according to the AFL fixture).

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
