Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

GWS traded 3,12 and F2 last year for it last year to get Cadman.

Sorry I stand corrected one club has done it.

Still don’t think wc will do it though. Time will tell.

Norf would been keen to get Sanders in who will be available at our p6. Perhaps they will trade 3 to us for 6 and 11.
We can then package 3 and F1 to the eagles for 1.
I really feel like it’s a win/win/win trade.

Curtin gets to the eagles plus they pick for next year which might help in pursuit of Logan McDonald or more first round talent.

Norf gets their academy jet sanders, plus Mckercher/duursma and potentially O’Sullivan to assist with the loss of McKay.
We get Reid the icing on the cake.

3 and future 1st for 1 and future second

I like this type of thinking.

North and us I think are the main options for the Eagles. Perhaps North will take a look at this ^ with much interest.

He also said in a seperate segment that he currently has the first 6 picks as follows:

1 - Reid

2 - McKercher

3 - Duursma

4 - Watson

5 - Sanders

6 - Curtin

Went on to say that is why he thinks we’re a chance of pulling off a play for Reid - i.e. that Curtin would be available at our pick

Of course noting all of this is subject to change as clubs get a better idea of which club will take which player at their respective picks

Hawks have 4, Dogs have 5.
Either could easily offer their pick and a Future. Which is why I believe the above strategy with North would checkmate Nth Dogs and Hawks possible bids.

Dogs have traded future 1st to get pick 4.
hawks/north wont trade future first as it could be top 5 pick again.

we have no qualms trading a future first. Will prob want something back though.

Semantics… but typical from some on this forum. The same people that think a 3 year contract is worth something these days. Horne Francis says hi

The AFL has changed the rules on drafted players and they can be kept for 3 years, whereas JHF was on 2 years mandatory and he was causing problems, so North bit the bullett one year early.

No one has 2 picks inside the top 6 (that they’re willing to trade).

But if they are seriously keen on Curtin to the point of splitting pick 1 to get him, why would you care if it’s pick 2 or pick 6 where you get him, as long as he’s still on the board? Where you rate a player is different to the order they get taken in. And another pick before the talent cliff, plus a future? I can see them turning it down & keeping 1, but I can’t see WC making a trade with anyone else.

Me either.

So does Pavlich who was going home every year according to SA news. He’s still in Perth

Nev Jetta couldn’t wait to leave Victoria

Blake Acres was traded back to WA and where is he now

Simon Black,Daniel Rich, Taryn Lockyer, Buddy, Chance Bateman, Joel Corey, Harry Taylor, Mitch Duncan, Darren Gaspar

For every go home to WA player you bring up I’ll name more who stayed

But by all means you make comment on someone you know nothing about or have never met.

I’ve got news for you were keen on another WA boy in next years crop so prepare yourself for more sleepless nights

Possibly. Either way i think we’re keen to move up further and we’d still do that to get pick 3. Drive a harder bargain and get one before pick 18 if its going to get north pick 1 and 6. Mckercher, duursma or watson gets shaken out that way and a chance for sanders for north at 6.

No interstate club is going to pick curtin in the top 5. Too much of a risk. Curtin will be available pick 6

I disagree, North's list is full of midfielders.  If north can't get Reid, they really should be choosing Curtin and Duursma and both of these guys I think are worth more than just Harley Reid.  I would take any of these three at the Dee's but unless we trade up, I think they are going to be taken.

But my point was more that if North really want Reid they should show interest in Curtain and put doubt into WC that Curtain will be available at 6.

I think West Coast or Reid's manager have done this with Reid, with him coming out and saying he is happy to go interstate.

It gives West Coast a stronger hand and forces North or the Dees into offering a suite of picks to make it more likely to happen.

Watching Tim Lamb handle a couple of pressers, his demeanor, his no nonsense attitude and air of confidence - he has left an impression on me.

I think we have the perfect bloke in charge of wheeling and dealing at this point and if we are looking to move our picks up the board further to entice West Coast to do a double take (encourage interest) on splitting pick one - we have the right bloke IMO.

Mr.Lamb “let’s make a splash.”

I don’t think anyone was talking about trading 3x first rounders for those guys, particularly Rayner. Not sure if they’d have received any offers.

Omeara was exceptional early and looked like the 2nd coming of Ablett jr, until injuries and (I think) mismanagement took their toll.

That's kinda my point though. Reid could also get struck down with injury, and suddenly all of that draft capital is gone for nothing.

At the end of the day AFL is a team sport. Recent flag sides have shown that you need truly elite players to win, but also need talent across every line. Three first-round picks gives us a chance to find an elite player AND strong talent to fill other roles. Pick 1 just gives us Reid who could be the next Ablett or could be the next O'Meara.

The top end trade I could foresee is:

WC give 1 get 2 + 11

North give 2 + 3 get 1 + 6

MFC give 6 + 11 get 3

But I'd prefer to keep 6 + 11

So under your scenario, all the wheeling and dealing we have done is to get one player and it’s not Reid ( Duursma) most likely?

That would be a lot of love for that player.

I note your preference btw.

I expect the 19th ( day before the draft ) and 20th of November 2023 to be interesting days for draft watchers.

Agree Old.

The hardball from us should be asking for North pick 17 or 18 as well.

Which I think is possible, though I might be wearing my red and blues.

Lamb did say we are trying to move up the draft. I wonder if we might try to tempt Geelong with 11 and a future pick for pick 8 ? Allowing us to get Sanders and O'Sullivan

Yes, there could be all sorts of garnish involving some of North's 17, 18, WC 23 and our F1st.

As @Redleg implies, we'd have to love Duursma for the initial suggestion to happen.

Mackie would be holding out for picks 99, 117 and 135 to seal the deal.

If the player you get is a Bont, Selwood, Dusty type, who stays fit most of the time, it is understandable.

My fear is that with all the eggs in one basket, if he is injury prone, or not as good as hoped,  you have sacrificed so much.

Anyway, as we say on here, in JT we trust.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
