if melbourne and collingwood play in the grandfinal you a likely to see a bloodbath AFL, is that what you want. you dont think melbourne players will not go after maynard, after what he did to one of them and got off, and you dont think collingwood will stop doing what they are doing, cox will go crazy with that knee and foot into everyone in range. god what a hopeless, gutless bunch the afl is.

One can only dream.

I think we need to start a poll. Did anyone here genuinely think there would be a different outcome tonight? I spoke to a number of Collingwood acquaintances during the week (I don't call any of the mates anymore) and said I was 100% sure he would get off. After all, the AFL and Collingwood have prior form. I just realized, was there a book being run on this? I don't think sports bet would have been up for it.

Collingwood (millions of supporters) and the Swans (millions of AFL investment) are untouchable at finals time. It's like Trump. They could kill an opponent and wouldn't get prosecuted.

AFL has just missed the chance to be the clear sport of choice for parents wanting their kids to play team sports

If the AFL appeal can Collingwood appeal that decision if it goes against them?

I personally can’t wait for Steven May’s kung fu smother on Curnow on Friday night
FOOTBALL ACT 😊

*a note for all the precious souls: I love Curnow and am not advocating our players take out any Carlton player. This is a [censored] take. Thank you

Let’s see if Laura Kane has the balls to put this boys club farce of a league in its place.

Laura already protected the AFL by making sure it goes to the wink wink independent tribunal. i doubt she’ll care now

Nope, had him gone for 4 weeks.

But I'm not one bit surprised he got off.

Oh yeah for sure me also but i didnt ask that, i asked do you think Maynard should have gotten off?

That's exactly where my mind is at.

I know there's a lot of emotions right now but it's going to get a whole lot worse when there's a camera at Brayden Maynard potentially holding up a premiership medal by the way things are falling into place for the pies.

I can't think of a game where losing last week to the pies will be our 'what if' moment. A missed opportunity just gone begging and now it's the hard road to the top.

Meanwhile pies get an easy run straight to the granny.

Yes. I know we gotta play it week at a time but i cant see us beating Collingwood if we make it without Grundy now. If we dont they will bash, knee, punch Gawn out of the game with nothing to lose. I always hoped Preuss would have progressed with us and been the battering ran to compliment Gawns brillance. Now i would put it to Grundy to play the game/ games of his life and give Gawny a clear path in forward half to chb.

Done.  YOU AFL are a bunch of power hungry, self entitled crooks.  I will make it my life mission to ensure you get as little of my money as possible from now on.   I will continue to buy my demons membership, you have my money for Friday nights ticket, but that is it.  I will BYO everything to every game.  I will no longer buy a cent of AFL branded merchandise.  I  will make my own demons gear (my kids will freakin hate me more than they already do!).  I will make a cash donation to my club instead.  FAFF OFF!

The next time we play the pies and some Collingwood player ‘tests’ out JVR’s jaw with their elbow, then I trust you’ll be all there saying whatever injury that happens is fair retribution and supporting Collingwood supporters pointing to his suspension is as why he deserves it.

I don’t agree with this call, I don’t like that Cox did that to Maxy, but maintain a bit of dignity and be better than dog Collingwood supporters?

Jadeds post was wishing (its implicit in the statement ‘test out that mangled arm’) Howe physical harm, that’s not on.

After the result of Tonight’s hearing, “everything is on”

We have a Player who was knocked out cold, in the first minute of the game, who may not play again.
And the opponent is free to play on….

It is “on” now. This disgrace will not be forgotten

She’ll care when Anita Frawley brings Gus as her witness in her litigation against the AFL won’t she?

I've disagreed with you on many fronts @Superunknown but i reckon I'm done after this year also.

Better things to spend my $550 a year reserved seating membership on than watching absolutely thuggery in front of my eyes.

Soccer Australia and their hierarchy must be rubbing their hands with glee the amount of young kids that will be heading towards the world game via their parents after this decision.

Hamish Brayshaw hit the nail right on the head the AFL want Collingwood in the GF with Carlton.

This is only the first domino to fall, Martin will get off with a fine also.

Yegads! I didn’t know I was disagreeable!

Each to their own.

Id run through the bastards.

Im not sure you understand this game, what is involved...the tactics used, the instructions  given.

Are you naive enough to think a ridiculous event that took out a prima-player ...just happened  ??

You think Cox jumping into Max is just...footy-stuff ( well actually it is..ironically  ).

Its a a very physical game.. its not for the faint hearted.  It can get very argy bargy... but even with all that...there's a line.

They crossed it   Quite frankly [censored] them.

Let’s calm down. There won’t be a bloodbath. And I suspect the AFL is not necessarily that happy with this outcome. They prosecuted for a suspension and lost. Suspect the new Footy GM was keen on a sanction for a blatant head high hit but didn’t get her way. Further up at CEO/Board Level they may be just happy they could, via the Tribunal, wash their hands of any of the head trauma liability that is coming their way.

Once again, our club lives on its knees.

Our clubs been hard as nails about this. We haven't taken a single backward step. We've leaked to the media. We've made our voice very well heard.

This is purely on the AFL.

Time for the MRP and AFL tribunal to be completely independent of the AFL. No former players, no former officials, no one with ties to the AFL. Completely separate from any one in the AFL

My 3 thoughts on a very disappointing day:

1. the rules read as if they were written by monkeys and are certainly administered by monkeys

2. this will have negative impacts ( no pun intended ) including participation

3. opening line of class action case "Your honour, this sport allows this ( play Maynard thuggery )". Game over.

Let him save his energy on the thug.

Btw, does anyone know if Angus has cut ties with that dog and his club?

Ain't that the truth. Would 100% be a different outcome had it been Viney on Daicos

They’ve literally done this to our players every time we play them. Not once have I seen our players retaliate.

Maybe they should, because clearly the AFL says it’s all fair game.

I believe in karma and I believe that they’ll get what they deserve. Will I cry about it? No I won’t.

Ok no worries then, Carte Blanche on wishing players harm then.

Glad it’s open season as every club has something to justify it so let’s gooooooo

Hope Brayshaw sues the AFL.

They’ve said they think it’s ok to KO players by running into them after a smother attempt.

AFL have failed their duty of care.

Hope he goes for millions in compo, they made their bed the AFL.

I spoke to Troy Simmons about this 2 weeks ago. He said Long would get 12 weeks if he did that now. Most importantly he is in fine nick and looks fit enough to play for the Dees today. Troy goes to the same gym - nice bloke.

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
