Looks like the ball hit the post from that pic you’ve provided.

I saw the mini replay on Foxtel a while ago and the ball clearly misses the post, but the weird thing was the commentators trying to say that it clipped the padding… 😵‍💫

One of the more stranger decisions, but then again we have seen, or thought that we have been seeing, quite a few. Apparently the noise coincided with someone wacking the padding to make it appear that it had clipped it.

Now why would that happen when there is no snicko there.

To their credit they did change their opinion. Mind you after viewing the replay THEY HAD TO. Haha

Amazing that 2 weeks in a row a faulty goal umpires call in the last minute changes the finals destiny of 2 teams.

The first one, ours,  the soft call was touched when it should been called a goal. The second last night not even reviewed! Intriguing to me that both umpires said  they clearly heard the touch ( hand / goal post) I mean with 50k plus screaming fans (at full voice) and hands and bodies whacking the posts and padding as the pack descends … how the hell can they say that with confidence? No clear deflection in either case so it’s all about the sounds.

Went to the game with some Crows mates and were right behind the Keys shot. On my kids life that was a goal and can't believe it was not reviewed. The level of incompetency is a joke.

Incompetency, or …. ?

And guess what?  Carlton and Sydney stay in the finals race.
Is that a good outcome for AFL HQ?   Just asking.

On Ch7 post game Hamish was definitive in that the kick was a goal .  As an Adelaide boy he must have been torn about the comment but at least he and Jobe Watson had the guts to absolutelty call out the error that in fact cost the Crows a Finals chance.

With the Blues debacle last week and this someone at Head of Football Dept. needs to hand in their resignation.

Thats the point MT.

The media will not bite the hand that feeds it.

Whately will roll out again scoreboard integrity, soft calls, umpire in a good position,  etc like last week.

Outrage at commercial and fans dissappoinment of clubs ?   ---- Crickets.

Mind boggling stuff. I was at the Melbourne game behind the goals but upstairs and the noise levels were off the chart with that ball coming in. And how many decibels does a ball supposedly glancing off your passive right hand as the ball missed Marchbank’s active left hand? Surely the goal umpires should be trained to call it a goal unless they clearly see a deviation of the ball. If they have any doubts ask for a review to clarify. But then the technology deployed at present is deficient.

Nor will the coaches or players -

Nothing from Goodwin, Gawn or Petracca, nor from Nicks

FoxSports Headline

"Crows Coach All Class"

But Crows coach Matthew Nicks says his side lost Saturday night’s match in the first two quarters — not due to a controversial behind — although he suggested his club would “trust in the process” as the AFL reviewed the finish to the game.

I'm impressed in the messaging, that clubs and players are not aggrieved. Perhaps they're not, they are in the entertainment business after all...

Are they going to remain silent when this happens in a PF or worse in a GF?

It will happen sooner than later.

Geelong will probably be back. It's slightly pathetic when people celebrate a successful club missing the finals for the 2nd time in a couple of decades. You wish we had it like that.

It wouldn't hurt if Geelong can stay out of finals for 3-4 years.

Do I wish we had the taxpayer funded home ground with the best home ground advantage in the comp and the pick of any player born west of Melbourne at free agency and trade time? Yeah would be nice.

Stuff them, hope they spend a decade in the wilderness

I’m not you can compare our ‘shafting’ to theirs.

Theirs was a clear goal that would have been confirmed by ARC if the umpires had referred it to them.  They now are out of the finals.

Ours was possibly a goal, but ultimately inconclusive.  No once could say there was clear daylight between Marchbank and the ball.  It was discussed in great depth across the football media and the general consensus was the technology needed to be improved.
In Adelaide, the technology was not used at all.

There was plenty of noise about our non goal but last night's is farcical and disgraceful.

I'm almost at the point where I'm losing interest in our great game due to officiating.

Credit to Nicks and Adelaide's response which has been first class. They are probably fuming internally.

I hope Hawkins and Dangerfield retire ASAP and we dont see Geelong in the finals for 2 decades plus.

It wont happen. They have a 100million+ taxpayer funded stadium to themselves. They have a huge home ground advantage all other Vic clubs can only dream of. They can offer established players interstate a lifestyle that gives you both rural and city  social activities  but a cheaper cost of living . They always seem to have connections at AFL HQ. Theyre a media favourite so they dont get attacked relentlessly like Goodwin does.

Melbourne doesnt even have  permanent training venue. We get almost nothing. Miracle we won a flag. Hopefully more coming.

Stuff Geelong. I hope they become cellar dwellers.

The poster who mistyped ARC as ARK is accidentally correct as to the era of the technology.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
