The Demons face an in-form Blues who have won their last seven games on the trot and have another Top 4 scalp in their crosshairs. A win for the Demons will consolidate their position in the Top 2 keeping the dream of a home final alive whilst a loss could see them back in 4th place. GameDayRd222023.png

My blue-bagger mates are very confident. I’m also noticing a few neutrals making the call that the Blues will be the come-out-of-nowhere premiers this year.

We need to put a hush to this malarkey.

Charlie Curnow? More like Charlie Curnever!

This weekends Revised Rules

Beware of wonky ball bounces in the centre being called play on.

Marks have to be held for just that little bit longer. Might as well call everything play on.

Short kicks are to be paid.. Short kicks are to be called play on. That was the rule from being paid first half to being not paid second half. Go figure.

are they really saying 70k?

Showing the Tillies on the big screens might boost numbers.

We’ll beat Carlton.

We’ll apply even more pressure on Carlton than we did on Collinwood in Rd13.

ANB is on the rise… It looks like he’s in great shape and has a lot of energy. He might have an opportunity to shine in this year's final series.

Go Dees!

A win by any amount is good, 30 plus would be great, and no injuries!

Hoping to see Grundy play well, kick a goal and be a great support to Max.

I compare the teams and feel we should have the covered in the middle, down back and forward! Curnow, Weitering and Cripps are guns, but they are missing a few and we should bat deeper.

Go Demons!!

Blues are playing well and are full of confidence. They'll have a crack at us for sure.

But there's no MFCSS here. We'll building towards September with the bit between our teeth. We'll get the job done.

Delighted to have Clarry back in the team.

Would love to see Gawndy contribute 3-4 goals.

20-point win for us in a hard-fought affair in front of a big crowd

Go Dees

Watched most of the Cats and Pies game with the volume off last night. Dropping the ball and throws are pretty much legal tender in this game now.

You can drop it, but try to get a toe to it and miss when being tackled and you're pinged.

AFL is a strange game at times.

Hope we stamp our authority on the competition tonight. I want to be at the G watching us pound the pies into oblivion late September. I want to see us win a flag in the flesh.

Go Matilda's, Go Dees

Ten minutes into the last - Judd McVee channels his inner Mary Fowler and hits a running Petracca on the chest, with a perfectly weighted, long pass who then kicks truly from 50. We go 30 points up and extend our 8 game winning streak over Carlton.

I’d prefer if McKay was playing.
This would create more predictability for our gun talls to defend.

Their smalls have me a little concerned, but, we could just as easily win this by 40 points.

I think we have set ourselves for this one.  It is the start of our ‘23 tilt.  Listening to Goodys presser, he sounds like he wants the finals like pressure to really get our campaign underway.  Including the Ginger Ninja and Big Reg shows we are wanting to get things in order for the finals.

Blues are up and about but are ripe for the taking tonight.  We bring the heat and control the territory game and I think we win.  If they go with us, 20 point win.  If they fall away - 50 point win.

Dees by 30, to establish themselves as the ‘real  deal’ for anyone who currently doubts their credentials.  September is coming, and so are the Dees!

What a great place to be from 5pm. You get to go to G, have a chat with mates, go to the Robbie Flower Terrace and have a drink and watch the Matildas and get inspired and then watch some footy with the greatest player I have seen back from injury.

Times like this I hate being 700kms away from the best city on the planet.

Taking my 71 year old Mum from Perth to the game tonight.

Hard not to think she’ll bring us good luck.

Last time she saw the Dees play was the 2021 Grand Final at Optus Stadium.

Ditto in Wollongong. Us in another close one but oh the joy on ending Carlton's winning streak.

How will the midfield line up? Ollie on the ball or JV

Petracca forward

Grundy forward and running contest to contest

Who's on Curnover

I hope the Melbourne faithful turn out for this one. Carlton supporters will be flocking in and I just hope our supporters show up as well. Should be a cracking game.

I wonder how fit Clarry will be. I hope he's cherry ripe and racks up his usual forty so Trac can play forward.

Time for the Dees to serve up a Lasagna Petracca with an Oliver on top for 70K tonight !

We will get the job done over these pretenders. Any talk about a Blues Flag will be sent down the Rivers...

We May have a slow start but will pull the Lever after HT and Van Ruin the Blues day !

Half way through the last, their fans will be Gawn.

Seriously?

You would go to a footy match you weren’t going to, because the Matilda’s are on the  big screen, when they are on free to air TV.

Don’t think so.

If you're on the fence, GET THERE TONIGHT! We need to be loud and proud, Carlton fans will be!

The premiership run needs to start rolling now and not look back! Let's show everyone what we've got.

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
