Jake Melksham has been suspended for two matches (reduced to one for an early plea) by the VFL Match Review Panel for a striking offence against a Werribee player in the fourth quarter of the match on Saturday.

Jesus.. even at VFL the MRP are still out to get us.

Bugger.... buggger..... buggrr

We should challenge, ask them to extend it to 11 weeks and there's our midseason draft pick sorted.

I didn't realise that Steven May was playing for Werribee.

I'm just relieved this was only a vfl footy charge.

Seeing the title made me think 'Oh no another off field incident'

Yesterday i couldnt understand why no dees player had been suspended. Then suddenly Christian yelled out' hold my beer!!

f#*#%&###k

From memory, Melk played in the Carlton game last year and was good. I thought he was a real chance to come in this week. Oh well.

I noticed in the Photo Gallery that a coach and trainer were holding Jake back from an altercation so I guess someone from the Werribee team really upset him.!!

You bet! 4 goals and a punch on to Pickett for the winning goal in the final seconds of the game.

Yeah, he did play well - someone in the miasma of AFL HQ social contacts pre-empted the memory and decided he could stand down this week. After all, Carlton are in deep horse droppings that may take a few rounds to resolve.

Only needs 2 more AFL games to reach 100 for MFC……gee I hope he gets there.

Good? He kicked the penultimate goal then fed the ball out to Kozzie who kicked the winner. Yeah, he was good.

I’d tell you, BDA. But then I’d have to kill you, and you seem like a nice person. You’re a fellow Irishman, so killing you is defs not an option.

Expect him to be a sub twice more this year.

Good plan.  There are a few little Melksham's running around arn't there?

From memory they probaby played with the Viney and/Or Jones kids during 2021 COVID hubs, so should be a few good future MFC stars in the making.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
