Ports young guns are moving the ball fast and taking difficult marks with aplomb we will need to curb their influence early in the game. It is going to be a tough ask but we have the talent to do it our Ins will be super critical. As Demonstone mentioned earlier it is Sad that two of our top SA youngsters miss out but still have Chandler, Alex and Grundy playing. go Dees.!!!

This weekend marks the next phase of the season. If we can go 6-2 over the next 8 weeks we remain on track for top 2.

4-4 and we are borderline 4th or 5th

Reckon any of Brown, TMac or Schache in for Petty. Not sure on current fitness/form for each with no seconds game.

Jordon for Sparrow

Smith for emergency for flexibility.

interesting non committal comment on Salem

Possibly in the 23 which would be a big surprise

Given Goody's media conference just now, you would have to say that BBB is the one in for Petty.

He spoke about the body of evidence in the VFL and Tom didn't play the last game and then there was a bye.

Also he mentioned BBB, Tom and Melk as possibles for Petty, but didn't mention Smith. Could be gamesmanship of course, but if it's not, then it looks like BBB is in.

Pretty sure they will want to see Salem play a full game at the minimum for Casey, before being considered.

I'm confused.  Listening to Goody & other coaches it appears most teams  have been building in the last month or so.

Yet apparently there's a housing shortage!

Marshall is a definite out.

Dixon I will presume as such considering it was supposedly a minor strain to his quad at training last week.

Quad strains are nefarious injuries and unless 100 % he would not be risked

I think they had to rebuild a few after they all got Trained down in the pre-season

Could start as a sub then play more minutes the following day with Casey.

I remain convinced that we are a better team with BBB in, even though he can go missing, or drop lots of marks he gets to.

At this current time, I prefer Jordon over Sparrow.

OUT: Petty, Sparrow

IN: BBB, Jordon

Harmes to sub

I like the sound of J Smith as an option, but reckon he would lack genuine game fitness. If something required him to be subbed on in the 2nd quarter, he would be out of steam in the last quarter.

I'll preface this by saying I have no idea what the extent of his quad strain was but I reckon he might have just been rested so he's cherry ripe for this match. If we were playing them last week (or another Top 6 team) and they weren't playing North he wouldn't have been rested.

He's 99.99993% playing this week.

I wouldn't think Smith would be considered until we proves his fitness over a couple more weeks.  He has played 2 games in what 10-12 months?

And we need a leading fwd to come in anyway

Pecking order would be Brown, T Mac, Schache, Melksham, Smith

Or Melksham, perhaps.

Well Melksham  in  wouldn't be the worst option.

He might have lost a yard of pace but he's got a lot of 'rat cunning '

As we’re Narrm for the next few rounds can we change the cheer squad to be the Barmy Narrmy? 😁

And with the ridiculously sky high rents acrross Australia, no chance of living rent free in opponents' heads.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
