Carlton need a coach. Voss might have been a great player but he is not a coach.

Voss, Hird, Buckley in the same boat.

Sheeze - Buckley had a premiership in the bag with 90 seconds on the clock. Average (ish) side at his disposal. Recon he can coach. Odds on to be at GCS I recon - and deliver a finals appearance.

Richo is really just about as dumb as BT - the entire commentary is moronic bloke banter.  Unfortunately this season I have been unable to sync digital, direct or AFL app radio commentary.

"If Carlton get a goal they will be 27 points down - they are now 33 down, BT".  WOW.

Best part of the game?  Hearing that Carlscum supporters began leaving the ground at 3/4 time

I’m so sorry. I was wrong. My understanding now is that they began leaving mid way through the third quarter. Even better.

Carlton have not improved one iota since the departures of Teague and Bolts.

Numerous top 10 picks, players traded in Cerra, Saad, Newman, Mcgovern, Pittonet etc.

Same old 5hit on repeat from this club.

Good points @YesitwasaWin4theAges. Footy isn't that complicated. Good footballers make a good coach, great footballers make a great coach. Truth is, Carltank haven't got that many good footballers, let alone great ones. Like numerous other clubs, WCE, Ninethmond and Flogmantle spring to mind, they are paying the wrong players the wrong money. Serves them right.

Most clubs have an inability to accurately assess the quality of their list. Been going on for 100 years. I once heard a very respected senior coach say he didn't get a new job at another club because he told the selection panel that their listed sucked and he'd have to undertake a renovation. That mob is still nowhere near it.

One of the reasons I respect Goody (and I used to be a critic), after 2019 he saw the list needed serious renovation and pruned hard and fast. Spring and summer arrived very quickly after that treatment.

My brother is a big Carlton fan. He went to the match today with his 7 year old son. They had the following exchange:

Son: “I think this is the worst game of football I have ever seen”

Father: “It’s definitely the most frustrating”

Son: “Every game I’ve ever watched is frustrating”

Father “It’s the curse of being a Carlton supporter, mate”

I am so glad kids growing up these days watching the Dees don’t need to go through that anymore.

What's Mitch Robinson holding up? A participation medal?

Pretty sure it was a chocolate gold coin from last year's royal show

Have to say Harry McKay is one of the laziest forwards, just watch how far he trails behind people when the opposition has the ball, and even when the contest is near, he is a witches hat!

Also Carlton are too scared to take a risk into the corridor, everything is out wide and down the wings, and Brisbane are just waiting, dumb football.

Cripps was garbage,I still dont acknowledge him as a worthy or Bonafide Brownlow winner

Love the vision of all the Carlton mongs in the crowd frothing at the mouth.

Got any pics Rab??

Carlton have doggies, pies, swans and us in their next 4. I don't think they're favourites for any of those games.

wouldn't it be great if they lost 5 in a row. Certainly, would be fun to watch.

only a few uncertainties this round you'd think, but there's always a chance for upsets

gc17's home record worries me, but their 'outs' are significant - weller is a far, far better player than he gets credit for being

Woke up to a wonderful day for the Swans cold and wet

This weather will suit them and they love a slog

Carlton are largely a group of talented players or high priced trades (and except for Saad the trades are not living up to the hype nor their price tag. The whole team is pretty much playing their own game and leave the hard work to others.

They lack cohesion and don't understand the meaning of teamwork or selfless play.

If they get their act together ie work harder defensively and work for each other, they can be a good team.

Right now, too many have had it too easy for too long.

I think Lachie Neale would agree with you.

One new finals team must drop out of the 8 next week to maintain the usual historical positon of new finalists after Round 9.  Saints, Crows and Port deserve a shot this year and look like being well coached to get there.

Carlton the one to miss this year I suspect.

Fallout will be fascinating.

Hey PF. The cameraman at the game last night kept panning in on them during the last quarter. I guess 20+ years of stymied self entitlement are starting to show.

I don’t think he wants to Coach again, as he is enjoying the softer life in the media.

Carlton are not a September quality side. Their bottom 6 players are horrible and their  method is so predictable.

Carlton are simply not skilled enough to play ‘cute’ footy. Saad the biggest culprit.

It's amazing what a little push in the back on GF day can achieve.

This sums it up. Their bottom 6 don't run both ways, but I last night the defensive run by the experienced Blues midfield was sub standard. I thought Kennedy showed them up in this regard when he came on. So many times the Lions streamed into their forward 50 with a gathering of Blues players jogging in behind them.

The biggest hole for the blues is their defence. Weitering aside (I love watching this bloke play) the other 5 seems to lack presence and impact.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
