What I’m most looking forward to this weekend in order of preference (aside from our game of course)

1.     JVR debut

2.     The Western Derby #deathride (would be no.1 any other weekend)

3.     Geelong going 0-3 (more of a wish this one. Come on Suns)

I see that St Kilda are celebrating their 150th anniversary this weekend.

Among all the celebrations, the parade of their Premiership Cup should be quite the spectacle.

Well .... they certainly won't need a Moomba style float!

They'll  be able to push it along in a ribbon bedecked wheelbarrow. ( maybe sponsored by Bunnings)

I'm betting tonight will be a free kick bulldogs night.

You were right.

Four goals from free kicks out of 10 goals, for the dogs.

They started the game with a free kick advantage, then they became even, and by the end 21 to 15. So the first 4, then the last 6 (calculated guessing).

How do they get that advantage and some with "ify" and soft calls?

Good prediction.

Of all the Victorian teams bulldogs have received a blessed run the past decade. Interstate team like numbers.

Tonight's game could be a beauty.

Great test for the tigers, their young brigade should be fast enough to keep up with the manic style of Collingwood.

Whether they are skilled enough?

Collywobbles seem to be the benchmark early this season.

I will be surprised if it is a beauty. There is every chance that the filth will [censored] the tiges on current form.

Except for our game this year where surprisingly we got the rub of the green.

Im still a bit iffy on the Pies as well. They look great, but i have a hunch that once their vulnerability is exposed, it'll be a house of cards moment.

Not many teams will have the ammunition to do it, but i think the Tigers who apply a lot of ball carrier pressure will at least be able to slow them down on transition. Contest and clearance has been a weakness for the Pies in prior years and Mitchell has been a welcomed addition.

Pies will win, but not as much as others think and i reckon we'll see the first signs of vulnerability tonight - just a hunch.

I really really really hope you're right. For such an expansive game style they're playing like they get the answers to the exam beforehand.

Bit of rain around tonight, wonder if that might affect things much

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
